"Really! You did much better than anyone could have asked of you." Arien patted Rafael's hand lightly as he said this, then moved away. He opened the fridge, going about the motions of making breakfast.
"Really! You did much better than anyone could have asked of you." Arien patted Rafael's hand lightly as he said this, then moved away. He opened the fridge, going about the motions of making breakfast.
Rafael instinctively lifted his head up to watch Arien before remembering and then promptly feeling extremely stupid. He set his head back down with a small sigh.
Arien hummed softly, mostly so so Rafael would know he was still there. He finished, moving over. He lightly set his hand on Rafael's.
"Do you need help to eat?"
He shook his head, gently pulling his hand away from Arien’s. “I’ll be fine.” He offered him a small smile. “Well whatever you made it smells great.”
Arien let out a soft breath.
"I'm glad it does," he said. He sat down across from Rafael, watching him closely.
Rafael knew he probably couldn’t do it on his own but he didn’t want to admit it. He tried his best. It took him a few seconds to find each thing he needed which only made him more frustrated. But eventually, he slowly began to eat. Despite trying to be careful, there were a lot of times when he’d mess up.
Arien silently helped when he could, not letting Rafael know he was. He felt a bit bad about it, but he knew Rafael wanted to do this on his on his own.
Thankfully, Rafael didn’t notice that Arien was helping. Honestly, he’d probably get really mad if he figured it out. After a few more minutes, he figured he’d eaten enough to last him a few hours. Plus, he was just feeling too upset to keep trying.
"How are you doing?" Arien asked when Rafael seemed to be done. He wasn't going to let Rafael try to put his own food away, that was pushing too much.
“I’m fine.” He replied dryly. “Can I just go back to my room now please?” He asked softly, fidgeting with his hands.
"I…" Arien had flinched at Rafael's tone. "Of course… Do you need help again?" Arien understood that Rafael didn't like help, but Arien couldn't let Rafael hurt himself.
He hesitated but nodded. “Y-Yeah I probably do need help..” he said, very clearly still upset about the fact.
Arien started to nod, then remembered Rafael couldn't tell.
"Okay…" Arien moved around, slipping one arm around Rafael's waist to help him up.
"Please don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it."
“Okay.” He replied, knowing it’d only worry Arien if he didn’t at least say he would. He didn’t plan on actually asking for help unless he really really needed it.
Arien held Rafael close a moment, then started helping him to the bedroom. He made sure Rafael could still touch the wall, giving him that feeling of helping himself. He would need to keep a close eye on Rafael during this, he knew…
Rafael appreciated that Arien was letting him feel like he was almost doing it on his own. After a few minutes of silence, they made it to Rafael’s room. He’d begun counting the steps just to see how far it really was.
It was a total of fifteen steps, from the counter to the doorway. Arien guided Rafael in to the bed, helping him sit down. By now, Rafael had the lead, and Arien was just making sure he was okay.
"Do you still want me to stay with you?"
He shrugged. “If you want to stay then I wouldn’t mind. But I’m probably going to be boring as hell.”
"I don't mind." Arien sat down next to Rafael, keeping close so the other man could tell he was there without touching him yet. He closed his eyes, then opened them to examine the man he was laying with.
Rafael had lay down on his side, humming softly to himself. At the very least, he wasn’t as panicked now as he’d originally been. Having accepted his temporary situation, he just seemed..sad.
Arien held back a sigh. He hated this, he hated seeing Rafael so sad.
"We're probably going to have to have to get a doctor or someone to examine you," he said softly.
“How are we going to explain how I got the injury in the first place?” He asked after a moment of silence.
Arien bit his lip a bit.
"We could go to a supernatural healer," Arien said. "They could set up a plan for how to help you heal, and they wouldn't be fazed by how you got to be like this…" If Rafael was able to be healed. There was only so much healers could do, after all.
He nodded slightly. “Okay…I’m fine with that. Would I need to like…pay you back or anything?” He asked.
"No," Arien said quickly. "No, not at all. I'll cover it." Arien smiled slightly, even if Areal couldn't see it.
