Mara raised a brow skeptically but didn't push. She could tell he was faking… But why? Did something happen before he moved to this house?
She shook her head to stop those thoughts when she heard his question. “Ok. How do we do that?” she smiled back at him.
"Well," Darius said, using the remote to get to one of his streaming services, "We can browse and see if anything catches our eyes, and I'll use the remote to select one when we've found something interesting!"
“Sounds easy enough.” the tiny girl replied, though Mara was a little doubtful that it really was. Especially when she had no experience with this sort of thing. Chances were, since she was just going off the name and image, she was probably going to think a lot of movies looked interesting.
(hfeje I love that both of our characters suggested Peter Pan in our rps)
(oop-)
(Me, remembering what happens to Tinkerbell: oh lord)
Darius nodded, looking back to the screen and the movie titles available to them.
"So, let me know when you spot something you'd like to watch?"
(lol… I thought it was a funny coincidence :)
Mara nodded, humming in acknowledgment as she looked at the large selection. “What’s that one about?” she finally asked as she pointed to one of the many brightly coloured pictures.
(I do too aha)
"This one?" Darius scrolled over, pulling the movie up. "Star Wars? Hmm, well let's see!" Darius smiled a bit, reading the description out loud quietly to himself.
Mara listened closely to Darius, her eyes widening in interest. “That sounds really good.” she smiled. She may not have understood much about it but if they watched it, she was sure she would learn.
"Great!" Darius smiled, hitting play before settling down.
"Ah- the movie begins with a lot of text you have to read, think you can or would it be better for me to read it?"
“I can read.” Mara confirmed, nodding a little as she tried not to sound indignant. “Umm… How much is a lot?” she asked a little nervously, curious if there were going to be any words she didn't understand.
"I, ah… a couple minutes of text scrolling on the screen," Darius said. He'd figured Mara could read, but he didn't know how well. How could he?
Mara nodded with a soft hum. “If you want to read it to me, you can. I won't stop you.” she told him, giving him a small smile. Though she soon jumped at the loud music starting with no warning.
Darius jumped as well when he heard the music, setting his hand over his heart.
"Okay then," he said, letting out a breath as he calmed down and looked to the screen. He took a moment to turn the volume down, thankfully.
Mara looked at the screen watching the title already shrink away into the dark speckled background. She shifted slightly in her seat, eyes wide in interest.
Darius turned to the screen, beginning to read it out loud. He managed to keep his voice to the tone of the words, but he was smiling some.
Mara glanced over at Darius as he spoke before looking back at the words and following along.
Darius had pulled up the very first Star Wars movie- so the fourth chronologically. He hummed as the text scroll ended, looking to Mara.
"What do you think so far?" He asked softly.
“Wow…” she replied, looking up at him. “That… That's an incredible way to start a story.” Mara smiled though she was a little confused by some of the terms like Empire, Starship, and Death Star. She hoped that those things would be explained more as the story went on… If not, she could ask Darius about them after.
"Mhm…" Darius smiled as he turned back to the screen. He pulled his legs up a bit as he relaxed, leaning slightly towards Mara as she sat on the arm rest.
Mara smiled, turning her attention back to the movie as the two ships moved across the screen. She tilted her head slightly at the sight of the shiny yellow man and the… blue and white thing.
Darius was quiet, not explaining anything for now. He'd managed to see how indignant Mara was, to some degree, when he had asked if she could read, so he wouldn't push unless she asked for explaination.
Mara watched closely as the people gathered in the hallway holding strange objects. She was again confused when they started… making noise and even stranger lights hitting each other. “What… I’m sorry. I’m a little lost.” she admitted, hoping Darius could explain the scene.
Darius looked over, pausing the movie.
"Okay! So, those are called lightsabers," he said, smiling as he pointed. "They aren't real, but in the story they're blades of light that can cut through almost everything."
Mara nodded a little. “And those… people in the white clunky clothes?” she asked.
"They're called storm troopers," Darius said, looking over. "They're the soldiers."
