Avalin got bored of looking around the room soon enough and she sighed, glancing at Leif. Gently, she sat up fully, then, scooted to the edge of the bed, grabbing her book off the nightstand. Just as gently, she moved back to her spot then, making sure he wasn't waking up before starting to read. Just to give herself something to do for the time being.
After a few more minutes of talking, Frigga nudged her son back towards the bedroom.
Loki gently pulled her back before they entered back into the bedroom. “Mother, can you tell me about the future?”
Frigga gave him a look, “Loki, you know I don’t tell the future.”
“I do, but you’ve always had a gift for predicting bits and pieces of it. Please, I just want to know if me and Avalin will have-“
Frigga cit him off with a smile and a gentle touch to his cheek. “Don’t jinx it.” She winked before closing her eyes.
Loki waited a few moment, watching as his mother started to glow slightly.
She opened her eyes with a smile and a nod. “Don’t worry.”
(oooooo :D :D)
Avalin poured over the book, relaxing into reading for the first time in over a year. Yes, she had read bits and pieces of books from the library when she had been tasked to clean it, but she was never able to read much or relax while doing so. And now, she was able to do both that and spend time with her son, things she desperately wanted to do. She was quiet, checking occasionally on Leif, but mostly reading as she let Loki and Frigga talk.
(XD)
Loki smiled softly and hugged his mother. “Thank you.” He whispered softly, releasing her reluctantly and going back to Avalin and Leif, now more hopeful than before for their future. He settled next to her once again, gently pulling her to him and hugging her close. He glanced over her shoulder at the book, his eyes bright green with hope and a small smile on his lips as he thought about what could come next for them.
She looked up when she saw Loki in the corner of her eye, a tiny smile appearing as she settled against him. "Did your mother say anything about how long we can stay in the dream before we have to leave?" She asked quietly, her focus shifting back to her book until she felt Leif shift in his sleep. He didn't wake, just moved around a little and promptly settled back into sleep.
“For as long as we’re asleep.” He replied, looking down at Leif and smiling softly. He looked up at Avalin and pressed a kiss to her head. “What are you reading?” He asked, nodding to the book in her hands.
"It's an adventure book," She replied, smiling gently as she held out the book towards him and nodded towards Leif, "Do you want to hold him? You haven't been able too much." Avalin nestled herself close to him, resting her head on his shoulder and marking the page of her book before setting it to the side.
He nodded and shifted a bit so that Avalin was was more comfortable. He gently scooped Leif up into his other arm, smiling when the small baby blinked his eyes open. “We’ve finally found time to spend time with you and all you want to do is sleep?” Leif tilted his head, as if he were contemplating what his father was saying before breaking out into giggles.
“I will take that as a yes,” Loki shook his head teasingly a d pressed a gentle kiss to his sons head.
"I think he's a daddy's boy, all he wants to do when he's around me is sleep," Avalin said gently, a soft laugh accompanying her words. She didn't grab her book again when Leif was gone, just settled against Loki's side, and watched the pair with a gentle smile. It was cute to see Leif giggle and smile at his father, reaching out an uncoordinated hand towards his face.
“Oh really?” He laughed softly when Leif reaches out to him. “My young prince, you do know your mother has been waiting to see you as well, right? And all you can do is sleep?” He sighed softly and glanced over at Avalin, kissing her gently and relaxing against her.
Leif cried out, the attention being diverted from him even just for a second. Loki laughed and glanced down “ah now you want her all to yourself, hm? Won’t give her your attention but when someone else does, you immediately get jealous.”
She happily accepted the kiss from him, pressing another gentle one to his cheek before chuckling at Leif's reaction. "Don't worry, we still know you're there my prince, we didn't forget about you." Avalin laughed lightly as Leif reached out again, this time for Loki's hair, curious about the dark strands. He cooed as he focused on the strands, earning another gentle smile from Avalin.
Loki quirked an eyebrow and tilted his head, watching as Leif played with his hair. “You know you have similar hair, right.” He cooed, laughing once more when Leif pulled at his hair sharply. “You best not do that when you play with your mothers hair.”
Leif just cooed and giggled, tugging on the strands and trying to bring them to his mouth so he could chew on them. Avalin laughed again, reaching over gently and trying to undo Leif's iron grip from the hair. "No, you can't chew on that. That's hair, not a toy."
“I don’t be think he knows the difference, or cares much.” Loki laughed, gently prying away his hair from Leif. The child cried out in annoyance and reached up once again. Loki shook his head with a small smile “Feisty one, aren’t you?”
"Like his father," Avalin replied with a playful smile, pressing a kiss to Loki's cheek as she tucked his hair out of Leif's reach. She held out her hand and watched as Leif grabbed her finger instead of his hair, yanking her hand to his mouth before contently chewing on her finger.
Loki chuckled softly “me? If anything you’re more like your mother.” He leaned into her touch and pressed a gentle kiss to her wrist. He watched Leif with a smile and handed him back to her, wanting him to be more comfortable. He wrapped him arms around Avalin and slowly leaned back on the bed, making sure they were both comfortable.
She leaned back against him as much as she could, sticking her tongue out in defiance, "You're the feisty once, I'm just scary." Avalin nestled Leif close to her, then tried her best to tug the blankets up to her waist for warmth, though it was hard with Leif in her arms.
“Hm, you are at times.” He agreed with a grin, remembering back to when he had caught with Thor in front of her. She had looked ready to fight as well, both verbally and physically. He had always seen that fire in her, the desire to fight for what she truly thought was right. He loved that about Avalin, but she was right. It was scary. Maybe not to him or those who didn’t arose her beliefs but he could see the falter in other people’s eyes when she wouldn’t back down despite them seemingly being more powerful at the time.
"Though you are just as scary sometimes," She added, grinning right back as she nudged him with her shoulder. It was a true statement, though she knew very well that he was scarier than her. He had the air of power around him at all times and with his magic, it just increased that power. She could out stubborn most people, but he could out power them, make them question if their beliefs were worth fighting against him for.
“Hopefully not as much as I was before.” He said with a faint smile. He tucked her underneath his chin and kissed her head. He had always hoped to change people’s minds about him, sometimes that happened out of pure anger and malice, other times he just wanted to be understood. Avalin had been one of the few people in his life that had given him a chance to show that he was worthy of any understanding. She made him want to be better, not for others but for himself. He found that truly amazing.
Avalin shook her head and smiled, kissing his cheek before settling in happily against him, "You're far from as scary as you were when we first met." She knew he had changed a lot over the course of their relationship, and she knew that he had learned to better control his emotions most of the time. All she hoped was that he had changed for himself and not just for her, she wanted him to be the best he could even if she wasn't around anymore, that was more important than anything to her. "You're not scary to anyone but those who should be afraid of you or who you want to be scared of you."
(Aw, I find this cute)
He smiled softly at his beloved wife and pressed a kiss to her head “I have to thank you for most of that my love.” He said softly. He glanced down at Leif, who had fallen back asleep in her arms. He truly didn’t know what he’d do if Avalin hadn’t come into his life. Didn’t know what kind of person he’d be.
(This is adorableee)
"I'm not the one that put in the effort to change," She murmured, "I was just there to cheer you on. Don't thank me." It may have been true that she had helped him change, it truly was him that made the change, and she hoped he had changed for himself and not just for her. She smiled up at him, holding Leif close for the little time she assumed they had left. Avalin closed her own eyes, though didn't fall asleep, just laid there in comfortable silence. The longer she could put off waking up, the better,
He nudged her head gently but kept silent, knowing better than to argue with his wife. He shut his eyes momentary, just focusing on being with his family for a long as possible before Leif had to go.
Eventually he woke up to find Frigga standing near the bed and smiling softly.
“I’m afraid it’s time for us to go.” She said softly, gesturing to Leif.
Avalin didn't know she had fallen asleep until she heard talking, waking herself up ever reluctantly. She had been comfortably tucked next to Loki, and Leif still slept soundly in her arms. Blinking, she heard what Frigga said, and visibly her face dropped and she hesitated when handing him over to her. "We have to go already?"
