“Happy Valentine’s Day!” he greeted with a huge, adorably dorky grin as he held the huge bouquet out to her.
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” he greeted with a huge, adorably dorky grin as he held the huge bouquet out to her.
Devon blinked in surprise. She’d completely forgotten about the holiday, so seeing the bouquet and hearing his words came as a small shock. Especially the flowers.
“Oh my gosh… Sebastian,” she breathed as she took the flowers in her free hand. “Thank you. I— I totally forgot what day it was. I’m afraid I don’t have anything for you…”
"Devon, don't worry about it." Even her name tasted sweet on his tongue. "Can I hug you?"
“Um…” Devon glanced down at her two full hands before grimacing slightly and looking up at him again. “I would say ‘yes’, but I have a small problem.”
Laughing at himself, Sebastian gently tugged her handbag from her grip, set it down on the sidewalk, and pulled her into a warm embrace.
(Coffee and flowers are in her hands. Lol.)
Devon sighed and relaxed into the embrace. “Thank you,” she breathed, letting her head rest on his chest. “This means a lot to me.”
(Yeah but now that her bag is out of the way he can move her arms to the side and hug her)
Sebastian pressed a fond kiss to the top of her head, hugging her close. “I’ll do it anytime.”
(Lol. Okay. That makes sense.)
“I can’t remember the last time I got flowers,” Devon whispered, wishing she could set her other things down so that she could hug him back.
Sebastian took a step away and released her, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Once I've sorted out my credit card dilemma, you'll be getting them as often as I can pay without cash."
Devon blushed a little, smiling down at the flowers in her hand. They really were beautiful, and she did love flowers…
“You don’t have to do that, Seb. Really,” she said softly, looking up at him.
"I don't," Sebastian agreed, "But I want to. So I will."
Devon’s smile grew as she looked at him. “Then, thank you. It means a lot to me… Um. I was just about to head home, but you could come over if you want?”
"Sure!" Sebastian nodded happily. "I can do that. I can definitely do that. How's Layla?"
“Layla’s great,” Devon answered with a small grin. “I think she’s gotten taller. It’s crazy how fast that girl grows.”
"Babies are like that, I guess." Giving a little shrug, he held out his hand to her. "Here, let me carry some of your stuff."
Devon blinked and glanced down at her armful of stuff before shrugging. “If you wouldn’t mind taking the flowers, that would be great. I can carry my purse and coffee, though. Thank you.”
Smiling, Sebastian gently took her bouquet into his hands. “How was work?”
“Work was good, I suppose. Super busy, but I guess it’s Valentine’s Day, so that makes sense now,” Devon mused with a shrug. “And I’m beginning to wonder if I’m really going to get that promotion… It’s been, what, two months? Two months since I thought I would get it…”
“It’ll happen eventually,” he assured her, lightly bumping their shoulders together.
Devon gave him a small smile before they reached her car. She set her coffee on the roof so that she could look for her keys in her purse, then dig them out to unlock the car.
“All right. You were going to ride with me, right?” she double checked, glancing back over at Sebastian.
"Yeah, if that's alright with you."
Seeing that her coffee was tilting perilously over the edge of the car roof, Sebastian stretched out a hand to steady it before it fell.
“Of course,” Devon agreed with a smile as she opened the door and grabbed her coffee. “Hop in.”
Not it.)
(Hhhhh)
Sebastian leaned against the wall behind him, arms laden with Devon’s belongings as she struggled with her key.
Devon finally managed to unlock the door to her apartment, which she swung open to reveal that it was a bit of a mess…
Crap… I forgot to clean up before I left…
“Um. So, don’t mind the mess… Layla and I were in a rush when we left, so I didn’t get the chance to clean up,” she admitted as she held her hands out to take something from Sebastian.
"Devon, please know from now on that you never have to clean up for me." Carefully, he handed her back the bouquet and handback, frowning slightly. "Alright? No need to apologize."
