Devon shook her head with a small sigh. "No, but thank you anyway. And… I really think k should actually get going, now. I do still have to pick Layla up, after all… Um… Is there anything I could do to help you with the card situation?"
The smile fell straight off Sebastian’s face at the awful reminder. “Oh. Uh—it’s fine. I’ll just—I’ll just call her.”
"Sorry," Devon murmured with a grimace at his reaction. "I probably shouldn't have brought that up… If you want… I could probably stay while you call her? Only if you want me to, of course."
Sebastian shook his head. “I have to face her eventually, you know? And I’m afraid of losing my cool again and yelling. Besides, Layla’s waiting for you.”
Devin smiled a bit, nodding slowly. "If you're sure… In that case, I'll see you later," she said softly as she stood.
Sebastian nodded after that. And instead of saying goodbye, something entirely different nearly slipped from his mouth. Just three, immensely meaningful words that he hadn’t dared to give thought to. Lucky, he caught himself before speaking them aloud, instead giving an awkward, spluttering ‘goodbye’.
(Stop making me pretend choke on air! Gah! My poor heart!)
Devon's face scrunched up in slight confusion at his spluttering, but she shook it off and brought the smile back onto her lips. "Bye, Seb. Come into the coffee shop when you can next."
(Hehe…)
“I—I will. Um, see you soon. Give Layla my, uh, best,” Sebastian stammered out, face flushing pink.
"Sure. Bye, Seb. I hope everything goes well," Devon said in quiet confusion as she stepped out the door, her shoes already on and her things already in her hands.
(Lol. Er… They run into each other after Devon’s job?)
(sure
How far are we skipping? And just for future reference, approximately how long will it take for them to get to a cheek-kissing stage?)
(A couple weeks, maybe?
I forgot how long they’ve known each other… Maybe 6-8 months?)
They've known each other since, what, October?)
(I think so… It’s, like, January, right?)
(yeah
ooooh can we skip to Valentine's Day? Is Dev ready to make the relationship official?)
(Yessssssss
She's been hinting at that for a while. Lol.)
(lol yeah
Seb's super cautious though he won't do anything unless she says it outright)
(Okay, so is it Valentine's Day? Or the day before?)
(Valentine's Day, ig
not it)
(Lol. We already established that I was going first, anyway…)
Devon sighed as she stepped out of work around three o'clock, a warm cup of coffee in her hands. The cold February air nipped at her nose and cheeks as she walked toward her car. She sipped on her steaming drink and glanced around a little, making sure that she wouldn't run into anyone when she looked back down at the ground.
(sorry)
Sebastian sped up a little as he caught sight of the familiar coffee shop up ahead, anxiously adjusting the petals on one of the roses in the huge bouquet he currently held in one hand. He had bought it this morning in order for it to be as fresh as possible, after sending Devon a 'Happy Valentine's Day' text…… along with a heart emoji.
Heart racing, he caught sight of her up ahead and broke out into a light jog, his face lighting up.
Devon’s eyes lighted on Sebastian as she glanced around, and a wide grin split her features. She hurried her pace slightly and took another drink of her coffee before she reached him.
“Seb! Hey, I was just about to head home. You’ve got impeccable timing,” she joked with a chuckle.
