(Lol. I don't do it often.
Lol x2. I did the same thing yesterday, but there are only four of us and we have a minivan, so it's not super crowded.)
Layla's giggles slowed, and she yawned cutely. All of this dancing was tiring, and she wasn't even the one doing it!
"Layla, are you sleepy? Ready for a nap?" Devon asked, standing.
"Nooooooo!!! No nap!" the girl cried, clinging to Sebastian. "Play wif Bahstin!"
(Oof
I won’t be on that much this week after today, we’re going somewhere for the last week of winter break)
(Also, just out of curiosity, how old do you think I am?)
Sebastian laughed softly, wrapping his arms around the tiny child. “Here, I’ll make you a deal. I’ll put you up on my shoulders and walk around, okay? But only if you nap and listen to mommy, hm?” He glanced at Devon to verify that this was okay.
(Ah, okay. Have fun!
Hm… 16/17-ish?)
Devon smiled and gave him a small nod as Layla laughed sleepily.
"Shoulders…? Fun!" she bubbled.
(Thanks!
Oh interesting
Thanks)
“Mm, fun,” he agreed, gently lifting her from his lap and handing her to her mother.
(But… Wait, was I right or not?)
Devon took her daughter and kissed her on the forehead as the girl squirmed.
"Now! Fun now!" Layla cried, reaching for Sebastian.
(Ahh I’ll keep that a secret for now. Sorry I’m really paranoid online, I was just curious on how old you thought I was)
Sebastian booped her nose, tickling under her chin. “Fun later, remember? Can you be a good girl for your mommy?”
(Oh, lol. That's fine. I'll put my age up, but bit my real name. Very few people on here know my real name, and that's just because I've formed trust with them. Like Nat. We text back and forth, like I told you a while ago. She's the only person on here who knows what I really look like, too, besides Camie. And my irl friend, oc.)
Layla pouted and turned away from him. She thought she was going to get her ride first.
"Sorry, she gets cranky when she's tired," Devon said with a small smile. "I'll just be right back. If you want, you can take a seat on the couch or a chair while you're waiting."
(Right, makes sense. I probably wouldn’t put my name up either, since it isn’t very common and hints at my heritage)
Sebastian nodded, ruffling his hair. “Alright, thanks, let me know if you need any help.”
(Hm, yeah. Mine is just uncommonly spelled.)
Devon nodded at him quickly before she started toward Layla's bedroom. She set the girl down in her bed, and Layla immediately started crying.
"No, Layla. It's nap time. No crying," Devon said gently, tucking her daughter in.
Layla continued to cry, rolling around and squirming in protest. Devon sighed and shook her head. They both knew this wasn't going to get the child anywhere, so the crying and such was pointless.
"Good night, Layla," Devon said as she backed out of the room, shut the light off, and closed the door behind herself.
After she made her way back to the living room, she sat down on the couch with a sigh. Layla's protesting could be heard from her room, and Devon grimaced a little.
"Sorry about her… She hates naps," she said, turning to Sebastian with a sheepish look. "She'll fall asleep soon."
(Coolio)
Sebastian frowned slightly in the direction of the bedroom, but he wasn’t about to question any parenting methods, so he turned back to Devon. “It’s fine, and I can relate,” he said with a slight chuckle.
(Another 8ish hour drive tomorrow… Whoopdeedoo…)
"Oh, you're not a nap kinda guy?" Devon asked with a chuckle. "Yeah, she needs them, though. Perks of being a kid: you get to sleep all day."
(Rip gl)
Sebastian snorted. “Fifteen year-old me agrees with you. Sleep doesn’t agree with me that much anymore.”
(My phone!!! My lovely phone!!! Oh, how I’ve
missed it! Lol.)
Devon smiled and nodded a little. “Yeah. I just have begun to enjoy sleep again. Having a child does that to you. I was up multiple times during the night for the first year and a half or so with Layla.”
(Mood)
He cringed. “Ouch, raising a child sounds difficult.”
(Lol. Yeah. And then I was told to put it away… Ugh.)
“It is,” Devon chuckled. “But it’s so worth it. It’s exciting to see how she’s growing up.”
(Rip)
He smiled at this. “Just wait until the teenage years..”
Devon’s eyes widened playfully. “Oh my word… And with her being as stubborn as she is already… Gosh, can you imagine?” she laughed lightly.
Sebastian’s lips parted in a soft chuckle. “You’re in for a lot of fun..”
"Oh, for sure," Devon agreed, shaking her head with an amused grin. "She's going to be quite the handle when she grows up, I'm sure."
He picked up one of the discarded toys, holding it up to the light. “Agreed. Good luck with that.”
(Guess who get to go to her grandparents and stay up all night for New Years~!!!)
Devon chuckled a bit before picking up her glass of water and taking a sip. She looked thoughtful for a moment, then opened her mouth to say something, only to close it after a thought.
He probably wouldn’t appreciate my asking, so I shouldn’t… No matter how curious I am about the other day when I took him to the hospital…
(Yass, awesome!)
Glancing sideways at Devon, Sebastian raised a questioning eyebrow. “You look like you have something to say.”
(XD I’m pretty happy about it.)
“Oh, no. It was just a question, but I thought better of asking it,” Devon said, shaking her head.
(XD)
He shrugged lightly. “Ask it. It’s fine.”
Devon sighed and glanced down at her glass. “When I picked you up the other day… What had happened? Why were you so… beat up?” she asked softly.
