(Lol, same, Sebastian.)
Devon smiled wearily at a customer as she took their order, glancing up at the clock on the wall as soon as she was done. She was supposed to leave in a few minutes, but her replacement hadn't shown up yet. It was strange because the girl was usually on time. Of course, today was the day she was almost going to be late.
(Rip yeah)
Ten minutes later, Sebastian found himself sprawled on the ground of an alleyway with a bleeding nose and huge bruises littering his body. Not only that, but they’d ripped his coat off of him and left a huge gash in his arm, which was currently gushing blood all over the pavement. Sebastian tried to stand, but his head span and forced him back down. Nausea rose in his throat as the whole world tilted. Sirens wailed in the distance, and I’m his panicked state, he add the first thing that came to mind: called Devon.
Devon's replacement had arrived just a moment earlier, so she was in the process of getting her things ready to go. Hearing her phone ring, she glanced at it in confusion before walking over and picking it up.
She raised her eyebrows at the name on the screen before answering, "Hello?"
Sebastian finally managed to stagger out of the alley, swallowing his bike before answering Devon. “Devon? It’s me—“ A curse could be heard over the phone, along with laboured, pained breathing.
"Sebastian? What's wrong? You sound like you're in pain," Decon said as she hurried to get her coat on.
Sebastian let out another curse as he stumbled around a corner. “I just- I’m beat up pretty bad— could you pick me up? I can’t—“
"Of course I can pick you up! Where are you? I'll be right there," Devon said, rushing around to grab her things before she hurried out the door to her car.
He told her the name of the street, his words slurred by now. His head didn’t pound, there were peaks of thunder going off in his skull and disintegrating every coherent thought he had. Blood still dropped from his arm, attracting more than a few stares. “I’m sorry.”
Devon chewed on her lip as she started her car, keeping on the phone with Sebastian. "It's okay. Just stay on the phone with me, okay? I'm on my way."
Delirious from pain, he leaned against a wall, nodding. He then remembered that she couldn’t see his nod, and managed a reply. “Y-Yeah. Thank you— ahh—“ His other hand flew up to his temple as pain burst through his head.
"Don't worry about it, Sebastian. Just… Sit tight. Don't go anywhere, got it?" Devon said as she started toward the street he was on.
Sebastian barely managed to croak out an ‘okay’ before his legs buckled. He hit the ground hard, barely keeping a hold on his phone.
Devon gasped a bit at the sound, glancing at her phone quickly as she chewed on her lip nervously. "Sebastian? Are you still there?"
“I’m here,” he managed, speaking through the thick haze of pain.
"Good," Devon breathed. "I'm almost there. Just hold on a little bit longer."
Sebastian let out a weak sound that might have been an affirmation, but was most likely an exclamation of pain.
Devon chewed on her lip more as she pulled up to the stretched said, stepping out of the car.
"Okay, I'm on the street. Where are you?" she asked, starting to walk down it.
“Near a traffic light,” he rasped, attempting to push himself to his feet. His arms merely buckled beneath him.
Devon hurried forward a other few feet, her eyes flicking from one side of the street to the other. Whe she finally caught sight of him, she sighed in relief. "I see you. Don't move, I'll be right there."
Sebastian let his head fall to the ground. He was slipping away, submerged in a sea of pain and confusion.
Devon ran over and neared beside him, her eyes quickly looking him over in worry. "Sebastian? Hey, c'mon, let's get you to my car, okay? We're gonna get you to the hospital. I need you to help me, though. I can't carry you on my own."
Sebastian tried to clear some of the fog from his head, leaning heavily against Devon. “I shouldn’t have called— I just ended up worrying you—“
"No, it's okay. I glad to help you. Thank you for calling," Devon said softly as she helped him stand. "We're friends, right? And friends help each other when they need it."
Friends. Sebastian nodded, the metallic taste of blood coating his tongue. He leaned against Devon, black spots floating in front of his vision.
"C'mon, my car's not that far away… Just help me out a little bit longer," Devon murmured as she started to walk them to her car.
