They finally reached Devon's car, which she had left unlocked just because of this. She opened the passenger side door and started to help Sebastian in.

"You might want to lean the seat back a bit, so the lever is right here," she said as she showed it to him. "We aren't that far from the hospital, so you'll be okay."

I hope…

What am I saying? Of course he will. He has to be… Right?

@blue_topaz

(Bahstin might have a small concussion :P
or just a huge head injury from being beat up bad
rip Bahstin)

Sebastian managed a nod, trying to blink away the black spots. "Thank you for doing this–" he told her, his words slurring together. "I'm sorry."

@blue_topaz

(gmorning! It's Christmas eve!)

They started to drive, and Sebastian felt immense gratitude well up inside of him. She hoped I'm okay.. No one has ever hoped I'm okay before..

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Good afternoon! Yes it is!!! Work closed early, so I got free food!
How're you today?)

Devon drove as quickly as she could without getting a ticket, and they were at the hospital in a matter of minutes. "Okay, I'm going to help you inside. Do you think you can stand for me?"

@blue_topaz

(Eyy sounds great
I’m pretty good! Excited for Christmas?)

Sebastian nodded, his head spinning as he pushed himself out of the car. The whole world tilted, his whole body hurt, but he focused solely on Devon.

(I am very excited! I get to see family I haven't seen in a while, and I got to eat really good food! And my great aunt is bringing dessert my sister and I can eat!)

Devon wrapped an arm around his waist and moved his so that it was around her shoulders. "Just a few feet. That's all you have to make it."

@blue_topaz

(That’s awesome!)

Sebastian was too delirious to fully appreciate the fact that this amazing woman had her arm around his waist, but he nodded in understanding and followed her instructions.

Devon helped him walk into the reception area, where she got a nurse to help her get him a wheel chair. Soon, he was being carted away so they could check on him.

Since she wasn't family, Devon wasn't allowed back, so she sat in the waiting room and chewed on her lip. Realizing that she had forgotten about Layla in her rush, she called her mom, who agreed to pick her granddaughter up and keep her over night.

The next few hours were a blur of pain and white lights. Sebastian barely recalled being moved from room to room, each colder and more sterile than the next.

Devon continued to wait – not-so-patiently – in her seat. She glanced around the room anxiously, tried to play a game in her phone to calm down, and finally just sat back and picked at her fingers, a bad habit she'd picked up in middle school.

@blue_topaz

Sebastian woke, hours later. The first thing that hit him was the pain. His whole head throbbed, his arm blazed, his legs hurt, and there was no delirium left over to distract from it all. He blinked his eyes open and was met by a sterile, white room.

They had finally let Devon in when they'd moved him into his room. She'd say down in the chair next to him and waited for him to wake up. That is, she waited until she fell asleep. And so she was now sleeping in the chair, her legs tucked into her chest and her arms wrapped around them with her head resting on top.

@blue_topaz

(Merry Christmas!!)

Sebastian let out a groan, turning his head to the side in an attempt to escape the harsh white lights fixed to the ceiling. He was met with the sight of Devon sitting next to him, her eyes shut and her hair adorably mussed. Smiling softly, he reached out a hand to gently shake her awake.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Woo-hoo! About to go to my family thing, so that's exciting!)

Devon made a soft sound when he shook her before she blinked her eyes open. She blushed slightly when she saw Sebastian, realizing what had happened.

"Hey. You're awake," she greeted him softly as she uncurled herself. "How are you feeling?"

@blue_topaz

(Have fun!)

Sebastian rubbed at what seemed to be a huge bump on his head. “In pain,” he managed, attempting a lopsided smile— though it looked more like a pained grimace. “How are you?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(We were supposed to leave ten minutes ago. Lol.)

Embarrassed that I fell asleep here…

"Glad you're okay and not on the brink of death," Devon joked with half a smile. "They didn't tell me how long you have to be here for."

@blue_topaz

(Lol)

Sebastian made a sheepish face, wincing in pain as he sat up. “Sorry for making you wait, you should have gone home. Sorry.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(I got books!!! And a Barnes and Noble gift card!)

"Oh, no. It was no problem. They tried to send me home, but I wanted to wait until you were awake to make sure you were okay," Devon said with a shrug, blushing when she realized got that might sound. "Um… Yeah, so… Yeah."

@blue_topaz

(awesome!!)

Sebastian blinked, pausing for a moment. He was undeniably.. touched by the gesture– no One had exactly cared for him enough to do that before. A tentative smile found its way onto his face, directed to her. "That's… that's really nice of you. Thank you."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(I'm spoiled, honestly… I got so much stuff.)

Devon gave him a small, slightly flustered smile. "Of course. What are friends for if they don't look out for each other, right?"

@blue_topaz

(oof same)

Friends. Sebastian's eyes widened just a touch. "Y-Yeah. I guess. Still, sorry for worrying you–" He froze, eyes skimming the room. "Where's Layla? Is she okay??"

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Lol. What was your favorite gift?)

Devon chuckled a bit. "She's fine, Sebastian. Don't worry. My parents took her for the night. I called them after the doctors took you back here."
