"Well, I am preparing your gift so I do need to think about you." Kyle rest his on Payton's cheek. "You're so cute when you laugh."

Payton blushed and hid his face in his arms. "I wasn't prepared for that. You're so mean." He groaned, peeking an eye out and glaring teasingly at Kyle.

"What? How? I guess said that you're cut when you laugh. I count that as a compliment." he grinned, ruffling his hair.

"Fine, fine. Well you're the sexiest man alive when you smile, y'know." Payton replied quietly, smiling up at him.

"Why thank you." Kyle took another bt of his muffin. "Can you ask for the check I'm almost done."

"I'll just go pay at the front." Payton replied, standing up with a small sigh and going to pay for their coffee and food.

"Something seems off," he whispered to himself. Kyle finished the last piece of the muffin and stood up to meet Payton. "Almost done?" he asked kissing his cheek.

Payton nodded and took his hand while heading towards the exit, glancing around them as they left the cafe. "How long are you staying for?"

"Probably only an hour. I know I should be there longer, but I can't because of your gift. After your birthday, I'll spend all the time in the world with you." Kyle raised Payton's chin and kissed his lips.

"Do you promise?" Payton smiled, tightening his grip on Kyle's hand and walking a little quicker.

"Promise." He held up his pinky and stopped walking.

Payton linked his pinky around Kyle's and continued walking, pulling him forward. "C'mon it looks like it might rain soon." He said, glancing up at the partly cloudy sky.

"That's why you were walking so fast." Kyle smiled. "What's wrong with a little rain?"

"Nothing, nothing." Payton replied, avoiding his eyes. "I like the rain. Just want to get home." He added, practically dragging Kyle down the sidewalk.

"Why do you want to get home so badly. You know you can tell me right?" Kyle stopped walking, pulling his arm back.

Payton stopped and stared at him, his eyes widening a little before looking down. "It's stupid.." He muttered, shifting a little. "My uncle and his girlfriend are in town for a work thing and when I came out to my extended family the two of them got really mad and started a fight with my mom and said some really horrible things and threatened us and stuff. They never went through with anything but I just don't want to run into them.." He explained quickly, moving closer to Kyle.

"Hey, that is not stupid okay? You should have told me. come on let's go home and it they come to your house call me okay?" Kyle took his hand and walked fast.

"Sorry..for not telling you.." Payton said quietly, walking with him and falling silent until they reached his house. "Can I call you later even if they don't come?"

"Of course you can." Kyle smiled and opened the door, only to be tackled by Lily. "How is my princess doing?!"

Lily shrieked and hugged Kyle, jumping up and down and begging him to pick her up. "You're the princess, remember silly?" She giggled.

Payton smiled at the interaction and ruffled Lily's hair as he passed through into the kitchen where his parents where making dinner. "Everything okay?" He asked, leaning against the counter.

"Everything is fine. Haven't heard a word from either of them." His Mom replied, leaning over to kiss his cheek. "Remind me to thank Kyle. He always turns up when she's getting too energetic." She laughed, concentrating on chopping up some vegetables.

"Hi, Mrs.Sanders!" Kyle yelled after picking Lily up. "How am I the princess when I'm clearly a guy?" Kyle kissed her nose. "Payton I'm going to take her outside. Do you need any help with anything?"

Payton laughed and nodded, walking back over to Kyle and Lily. "No, I'm okay. At least let me say hi." He grinned, giving her a kiss on both cheeks before she could protest.

"No you're the princess because I said so." She giggled. Lily whined and hid her head in Kyle's shoulder. "Ewww Payton you're so gross!" She exclaimed, pouting at him.

"Alright, I'm the princess. You have to be the dragon though. You know I do that with your brother right?" Kyle chuckled.
