Sam tilted his head, thinking a moment.
"I might take you up on that," he admitted. "But I'm not used to living with others. It would take time to adjust." Sam let out a hum when the food arrived, looking down at it. He examined his sandwich.
"It looks good." He set his doll down again, back in the corner, letting it- a woman- watch him as he ate.
"Wonderful!" Karia gave Sam a wide smile, then turned his attention to the waiter. "Oh, this looks amazing. Thank you." he glanced at the food with a satisfied look on his face. "Neither am I, really. I guess we could adjust together, eh?" Karia picked up a pickle and popped it into his mouth. "Ah, it's as good as ever."
Sam picked his sandwich up, taking a bite. He chewed, seemingly indifferent.
"It's good," he finally said, setting the sandwich down. "And that sounds good to me."
"I like that answer." Karia picked up his sandwich as well and took a big bite. The sandwich was also just as good as he remembered, which made him happy. If he couldn't have an entire free day, at least he could have one nice meal with an interesting person. Karia continued eating in silence, wanting to savor every bite.
Sam fell silent as well. He ate without a word, eyes trained on his food. He had just a faint smile, occasionally glancing at either Karia or the doll, but his eyes always returned to the food.
Sam finished first, sitting back and pushing his plate away.
"Thank you for bringing me here," he finally said.
Karia finished his sandwich and pickles a little after Sam, glancing at him every once in a while with a smile. "Of course!" He laughed. "It's the least I can do for my new friend." Karia reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet. "And I'm paying, too. Don't worry." He glanced around the restaurant and waved at the waiter. "The check, please?" The waiter nodded and went to get it.
Sam hadn't even bothered to try to pull his wallet out first.
"Thanks." In reality, Sam didn't have the money to cover this. If he ever ate out, he just left before paying and got out of town. Sam used his napkin quietly, picking his doll back up and putting it carefully in his pocket.
The waiter brought back the check. Karia grinned at Sam and pulled a few bills from his wallet. This would be a little more than usual, but it was fine. He handed the bills to the waiter, who went to get the change. "So… is there anything you want to do after this?"
Sam thought a moment.
"Well," Sam said finally. "If I'm to be staying with you, I should get my things from where I was planning to stay tonight." Sam shrugged a moment.
"Other than that, no idea."
"Oh, that's true." Karia nodded. He'd momentarily forgotten that Sam might have other things with him. "Are you okay with me going with you? It's kind of hard to describe where my apartment is without just showing you." Karia accepted the change from the waiter and set down a few bills as a tip. "Thank you," He said, giving the waiter a smile as he stood.
Sam didn't say a word to the waiter. He stood as well, holding his hands together.
"Sure, I don't mind," Sam said. "It shouldn't take long at all."
"Perfect. Lead the way, I guess." Karia grinned and gestured towards the door. This was going to such a fun and interesting experience.
Sam nodded. He started off, silent. He glanced at Karia a bit, head tilted.
"It isn't the greatest part of town- there might be people who recognize us. Are you up for a fight if it happens?"
"Yep." Karia nodded. The first time he'd been recognized, he'd been in an 'it's my day off' mindset. But now, he would be ready for anything. He didn't have his favorite weapon, but it would be fine.
"Alright." Sam wasn't affected. Honestly, he'd much prefer fighting on his own, but he figured it Karia was with him they other man would want to fight too. They came to a much more run down section of town, abandoned factories around them.
Karia followed Sam towards his place. He started looking around a little more as the buildings got more and more run down, but he didn't look worried. It was better to be alert and aware, especially here.
Sam moved into one of the factories, digging his head a bit as he pushed aside a ratty cloth. There were very few items around, but the most noticable thing was the dolls. There were… A lot. In various states of disassemblement, too. They were scattered about on the floor, Sam avoiding stepping on some and seemingly selling out stepping on others.
"Sorry it's a mess," he said.
Karia glanced around the area, taking in the assortment of dolls. Sam really used his power a lot, apparently. It made sense, since it got rid of so many enemies in such a short amount of time. "Eh, I don't care." He stayed near the enterence, not wanting to tread on anything accidentally.
Sam set about packing up, gathering the dolls up into two piles. He put one pile in the bottom of the bag, putting the rest of his belongings in before adding the others. They all fit neatly in the bag he had with him, despite it being so small and there being so much stuff being put in. Sam looked up at Karia.
"Ready," he said simply.
While Sam was packing up, Karia occupied himself with looking around the room again, and then when he'd seen everything he could, with creating different patterns on the back of his hand. Normally, he would choose something else to entertain himself, but Sam had already seen him shift. It didn't matter now. He looked up at Sam's word and nodded. "Alright, let's go." Karia pushed back through the cloth. If it was just him, he simply just jump into the middle of his apartment. But if Sam was going to be staying with him, he had to know how to get to the place. Walking there would have to do.
Sam stepped out behind Karia, putting his hood up again.
"Alright. I don't know were your home is, so I'll just follow you." Sam adjusted his bag on his back, hands going to his pockets. He was indifferent, really, just like before.
"Right. This way." Karia led the way out of the factory and towards his apartment. It was a good walk away from where Sam's place was, at the edge of the run-down part of town. He stopped in front of an old-looking brick building a few stories tall. "Well, here we are." Karia pulled a key from his pocket and unlocked the door, holding it open for Sam to step into the a lobby-like area.
Sam kept silent the entire time, just following after Karia was a blank face. He let out a soft hum, looking around.
"Okay." He looked around again as they entered the looby, letting out in a breath. "Doesn't seem too hard to find."
"Yeah." Karia laughed and started towards the staircase. "I guess it doesn't exist as super easy to get to in my mind since I hardly ever walk up to it. But it's good that you'll be able to find it easily." He headed up the stairs and walked onto the second floor.
Samu shrugged a bit. He followed after Karia, up the stairs two at a time. It was just his natural pace.
"I'm pretty good at finding my way around. Perks of being me, I guess."
