Alice examines the faerie boy's eyes, as unnatural as her own, as she speaks.
"Oh? Interesting. So rarely am I wrong. Tell me, do you know why humans are considered so deadly, Vale?" she murmurs, her eyes locking onto the faerie boy's.
(I plan on Will being active in many relationships seeing as he is a target for them, though who he ends up with is still unsure, im just winging it)
(so im fine with it Ice.)
(Fair enough, Aristotle!)
(So… next thing Alice'll do is talk to Will. Properly.)
Will looked up, jumping slightly because of the startlement of Sara speaking.
"I-" he said, his voice barely audible, he stared at her, taking her in and exhaled shakily.
He then cleared his throat briskly, lifting a fist to his mouth to do so.
"I beg your pardon miss?" He said confused.
"I do not mean to make anything harder, I am just a butler, here to serve" he said nervously, afraid of what the woman meant, she was crying and looked slightly separated, so he was fearful she might take her anger out on him and took a quick step backwards.
"I have to get on with my duties miss" William said quickly, his voice higher out of nervousness
"I shall stay long enough for you to explain what you mean, then I'm afraid I must go" he added, a bit slower than his first sentence.
(Sorry I’m in gym I’ll reply in a bit!)
Neo watched everyone from the second story, he was looking for his love, Nolan. Because of his position, they were unable to enter together, and Neo had been forced to use a side door. He was able to explore the area however, and eventually ended up where he is now, Watching the heads of everyone dance and move.
Seraphina crossed the room towards the thief of her heart until her face was inches away from his. She swallowed a sob at the wild look in his eyes. Fear. Of what?
The answer flitted through her thoughts even as she chased it away. Of her.
"Will…" His name was hardly a whisper at her lips but it escaped her nonetheless. She couldn't help it. She shouldn't but she wanted him. Oh, but she wanted him.
Her eyes searched his until she could take it no more. Longing as she had never felt for Nolan coursed through her, and a guttural sound escaped her.
"Please don't pretend, Will. It's us just here." Her body, of its own accord, fits itself against his, knocking aside the platter in his hands. She pressed her trembling lips against his, and she couldn't tell if the salt was from her tears or his. When they broke apart, her lips mumbled against his: "I tried, Will, I tried. It wasn't enough. They make the announcement tonight. I'm to marry Nolan."
And with that, she collapsed against him, finally broken.
(Hey, @Mere_Hufflepuff, Will doesn't have to be crazy for her if you don't want. I'm just giving her a reason not to want to marry Nolan.)
Nolan's eyes widened at Alice's statement, a curse escaping his lips as she pulled away. The duchess. Killed. That would only mean he was to be married to… her
Tears formed in the corners of his eyes as he searched frantically for his love. His only love. He limped across the ornate marble, toward the stairs to the second floor, trying to keep in terrified sobs as pain echoed through his broken body. "Neo!" He called, his eyes darting through the sea of servants and butlers, all tending to the ravenous, putrid crowd that wistfully danced below.
"Neo!" He called again, accidentally hitting against sharp railing and collapsing to the floor as he felt the ugly bruise starting to form.
And with that, he cried. He was alone, there was no one here to judge him for his insignificance, his defect. He let out broken sobs, imagining a horrid life with the duchess.
Neo jumped when Nolan called his name, franticly searching for his love, finding him only when he ran into some railing. Neo had to stop himself from jumping over the low wall to get to Nolan. He ran down the stairs, stoping beside him. Neo reached down, picked him up, and walked out a door. Not stoping until they had reached an empty corridor where Neo laid Nolan down on an overly plush bench. "I'm here, what do you need?" he asked softly, kneeling down next to him.
Nolan fell into Neo's arms, tightening his grip so he would never have to leave him. He sighed as the bench took part of the pain from him, then stared blankly at the cieling. Not daring to Neo's gentle eyes.
"The duchess… she- she is going to be killed. And I am to be married to that…" He paused, thinking of a reasonable and considerate title. "That narcissistic asshole!"
Alice turns to watch Nolan leave, then sighs. So… he is not as hardy as I thought. Interesting.
She turns back to the Fae boy, but he'd left already. Somewhere in the crowds. Either that, or she'd merely lost track of him. She shrugs.
She wanders about for a bit, talking with various suitors.
Neo ran his fingers through Nolan's hair. "It's going to be ok, I'll be with you no matter where you go. And as long as I'm with you, nothing bad can happen." He propped Nolan up so that her could look into his eyes. "Are you ok?"
(Apparently I am too late to join)
Vale merely shrugged, watching as Alice walked away. He didn't have much to say to her; something about her seemed off, though he wasn't quite sure what it was.
Nolan looked into Neo's bright eyes, nodding as he listened to his gentle voice. God, he loved Neo's voice. He sighed, looking down at his most recent injury before nodding. "Yeah. I'm alright." He growled, still pensive on the thought of Seraphina.
Alice shrugs off the heavy mantle of politics for a moment as she steps outside into the garden, pealing off the stifling mask. Oh, thank god… I felt for sure I would suffocate in there.
Slowly, she kneels in front of a statue overgrown with ivy. This place is silent. I like that.
Sara struggled to get closer against Will's chest, but there was no closer. Her emerald dress melted against his black shirt as she savored the feeling of his strong arms around her. How was she going to live without his safety and warmth? She needed him. She needed him like fire needed oxygen, like the night needed the moon. Her heartbeat intertwined itself with his; it pushed upwards into her throat, into her head.
Nervousness slid through her bones. He had yet to react to her confession, had simply allowed her to tug her mouth to his, fit her fragile-looking figure against his strong and lanky one. What was running through that mind she loved so? Was he thinking the same thing she was?
Was he thinking that with every tick of the clock, she was a little bit less his?
The clock.
Oh.
She glanced over at it.
11:49
Her heart sunk, and with great effort, she pulled herself away from the safety of his chest. "Will, I have to go." She waited for his eyes to meet hers. When they finally did, they pulled her back to him. She allowed herself to breathe in his smell one last time before she could no longer claim it to herself.
Unless…
Oh, but she shouldn't. And yet…
"Save me a dance." Her voice was muffled against him. "At the stables. After the announcement. As soon as we can both get away." Wrenching herself out of his grasp, she gave him a grim smile and journeyed towards the door. After a second thought, she shuddered and paused. Without turning back to look at him– though she could feel his eyes on her back– she allowed her voice to become high and cold once more. "Stay here, William. There's no need for you to be privy to the announcement or the public display of affection"–Seraphina's stomach revolted at the thought– "I'll be forced to share with Nolan."
She tore through the door and stepped back into the ballroom, leaving her heart behind her.
Alice hears Sara stomping around, her high, cold voice snapping at someone. Probably just a servant… she thinks, but gets up anyways, putting on her opaline mask once more. She follows the choes of the voice, reaching… Will.
"Oh. Hi." she says, not sure she should be there.
(Wait is will supposed to be the stable boy?)
(Oh dude i thought so, hehehe, did i do wrong? I'm sorry, I'm not used to RPs)
