(I think so, yeah. @Icefire, we're ready!)
(ohhh yeah!)
Vale was standing there with a bemused expression on their face. "All this talk of lineage and succession…don't you know who the bloodline belongs to?" he asked, arching an eyebrow at them all. He had not been standing there too long; just long enough for them to hear what the others had been speaking of. His gaze fell on the scrolls, and he scoffed softly. "Papers can be forged, you know. Histories can be made up." he shook his head, a few locks of pitch black hair falling into their forehead. Their eyes were back to that inhuman liquid black, even the "whites" the same shade of obsidian.
Alice snorts. "Yes, but that's treason, is it not? And even knowledge of it is treason."
Her words were pleasant, but the threat was clear.
He laughed. "What, you think you have any power over me?" he leaned in towards her, a razor smile dancing across his lips. "My dear little person, if you harm me, you start a war that you will not win. I am a prince of a foreign court; therefore I have diplomatic immunity. If you think to threaten me, you had best find some new threat. I am not a person to be trifled with."
Alice merely smiles: a smile that tells of a far greater power and elegance than her form shows. "Diplomatic immunity or not, there are ways of. . . dealing with issues."
His gaze still looked faintly bored. "Darling, I would love to see you make the attempt. Really, I would." he knew that she knew nothing of the fae, if she really thought she could "deal" with him so easily. "But let's not waste our time with frivolous arguments." they were highly amused that she had insinuated he had committed treason in some way. Treason could only be committed by a citizen of that country, and he was no citizen of this human nation.
Alice chuckles. She knows things, things no human should know. If the Faerie boy thought she knew nothing, he was in for a nasty surprise later.
"Oh, really? Cold iron, silver, rowan wood. . . many ways of daling with the Fae are well known. Belladona is a potent narcotic when used against humans. However, against the Fae it causes painful lesions to appear on the body. It'll paralyze you after an hour, and an hour after that, your heart will stop. Nightsbane. . . well, I would hate to be the Fae on the recieving end of that. And of course, cursed salt." she snickers.
"And just so you know, treason is treason. You are a guest and therefore subject to our rules, if enough evidence is provided. I'm fairly sure most of your actions in the privacy of this castle against the humans would be more than enough." she adds, eyes locked on the Faerie prince.
"Do you really think I would be here without any protections?" he responded, not otherwise responding to any of the mentioned articles. "And no. That is not how treason or diplomatic immunity works. Really, for someone who claims to be an heir you know precious little of the laws surrounding diplomatic representatives. And, furthermore, I have done nothing harmful to any of the humans in or near this castle. Any activities done were done consensually, with the human in full control of their own mind and emotions. I am not the kind of fae that enjoys ensorcellment, but again, a good attempt. So no, I am unable to commit treason, and I am not subject to your laws in any way, with few exceptions."
"I have ways to get around those. Money is very useful, you know." Alice grins.
She laughs. "My, aren't we well read on the laws! You know, I have my eyes all over the castle. I've seen your deals. Don't play your tricks on me, Faerie."
"Money cannot buy off magic protections, are you sure you know how all this works?" his voice was condescending for just a moment, and he shook his head. "Of course I am well-read on the laws; I am going to rule the Winter Court. That is how being an heir works. You learn the laws. And deals are not illegal. Again, everything was done consensually and free of ensorcellment, meaning that everything was carried out legally."
"Yes, but money can buy those who can break through said enchantments." Alice snorts. "You seem to forget that humans, though weak and short-lived, are more powerful than you give them credit for."
"If they were so legal, why were they done at the middle of the night, in abandoned corridors?" she asks.
He shook his head faintly. "Because most members of "your" court do not like to admit they are carrying out deals with the fae. Again, are you sure that you understand how all of this works? Most people don't wish to carry out deals in public; there is too much stigma attached to it." their gaze remained calmly on her.
Alice sighs. "You really are a Faerie, I'll give you that. Blighted little bugger. You are very adept at this, and yet a mere human knows. I'll find a way, trust me. In the mean time, rest. And get out. Stop spying."
"I'm shocked." he said dryly. "I really am a faerie. Thank goodness, I was worried that I was not." his voice was dry and vaguely sarcastic, and he shook his head. "And no, I don't think I want to get out. This is far too entertaining."
Alice snorts. "You know, I've never liked Faeries. Lingering where they shouldn't. I'll line the room with cold iron when you leave."
What she doesn't say is this: I've been hired to kill many of your kind, little Faerie prince. I'm the boogyman to your people: sneaking in, slaughtering the family, leaving without a single trace. You should fear me.
She knows that the Faerie can read her eyes easily, and she counts on this.
He met her eyes, and just laughed. "I'm sure you will, darling." he replied, cocking their head faintly with a smile still dancing across his face.
"You should know this about me, at least: I make promises and keep them. I make no threats." Alice grins, the words pleasant once more as she regains her courtly manner.
"Of course not, that would be unladylike." he replied, mouth twitching for a moment and shaking his head a little bit.
"Of course." Alice says, a small smile playing around her lips. She walks towards the door, and pauses right next to the Faerie prince, putting her lips right next to his ear.
"*And I promise you, if you do anything to any of the peoples in this kingdom, the Winter Courts will know the wrath of Alice." she whispers. She smiles as she says this, then leaves.
He laughed. "So frightening, I am quivering in my boots." he said mockingly. "I have done nothing without consent and permission. I am not the bad guy in this situation, darling, no matter how much you try to make me one."
(I miss this so much!! (◞╭╮◟))
(me too, honestly)
(I wonder if we could revive it)
