Alice looks bemused. "You seem to forget something, Sara: I do not kill just anybody. There is always a reason. And she's not truly dead; merely resting. She'll rise at the full moon, a vampire Duchess."
Alice looks bemused. "You seem to forget something, Sara: I do not kill just anybody. There is always a reason. And she's not truly dead; merely resting. She'll rise at the full moon, a vampire Duchess."
Saraphina's blood turned to ice in her veins. A vampire Duchess?
This was too much planning to have been coordinated simply by Alice. "What do you—" she began, but was distracted by a small male cry and a thump on the other side of Nolan's room and the blood rushing to Nolan's face.
Alice smirks, knowing exactly what's crossing Sara's mind.
She whirls at the sound, glowing slightly.
Nolan sinced at her grip, gritting his teeth as he pulled away and made sure the door was shut.
"I want no part in this foolishness. And-"
The thump knocked him off guard, his heart racing as he looked toward the source of the noise. "Neo…" He whispered slowly, already feeling remorse for having to hide his love.
He angrily pointed at Alice. "No one. Needs to know." He growled
Alice shrugs. "I already knew, and I never told anyone. I know pretty much everything that happens in this castle."
Saraphina couldn't comprehend what was happening. Maybe she had never actually considered Nolan before, never thought that he would have things to hide as well.
Sympathy filled her bones. She growled at Alice.
"You need to leave. Now."
Alice shakes her head. "No. I won't. As much as you may hate me right now, you need me here."
She understands, though. She understands exactly what Sara feels.
The strength leaves Sar's body and she sits against Nolan's bed.
"Say what you came here to say." She gestures weakly at Alice.
So what if she killed Saraphina? What use was fighting anyway?
Nolan gently helped Neo out, leaning against him as he kissed the boy gently. "Yeah. I don't exactly appreciate your meddling in our affairs. If you can't leave, at least tell us why the hell you're here."
Alice shrugs. "I'm here to keep you three safe. My… employers… aren't very happy with me. They might come after you. I've already got people guarding Will and all the others. I personally will be guarding you guys."
Sara narrows her eyes at Alice. "Will? Where is he? Is he safe?"
She lunges at Alice. "If you lay a finger on him, I swear, I will personally ensure you die a tragic and painful death." She is ice, she is fire. She will not allow him to be hurt. She had cut him out simply to avoid this, she would not –could not– entangle him in this.
Her hands were on Alice's throat and her leg curled around hers and Alice hit the floor– dead-legged. Saraphina stood over her, cold and cruel and unyielding.
She pressed her face nearer to Alice.
"You don't make the rules here, Hearth," she hissed. "I do. This is my court. Now tell me…" she paused, fighting her own instincts.
"Now, tell me," she started again, "who are you working for?"
Alice lets herself be taken out. She starts laughing, unable to believe it.
"Sorry, Sara… give me a second here. You want to make sure I don't hurt Will? Even though I just said I was keeping him safe myself? I don't make promises I can't keep, little lady." she giggles.
"And if I tell you who I'm working for, this castle would go up in an atomic explosion." she adds, finally calming down.
Neo gently lead Nolan away from the commotion, grabbing Saraphina and yanking her away from the murderer with his strong grip. He glared at the both of them, pointing to Alice first. "Listen, you have no right to believe you are the ruler of this whole ordeal. If anything, Sara has power over you here." He then turned his attention to the young duchess, his expression softening slightly. "And you have no right to attack anyone, regardless of what they have done. Understand?"
Nolan watched, a little worried, and slightly bemused. His boyfriend was an expert at taking hold of the situation
Alice watches the pair intently. "Really? Because last time I checked, I was the heir to the northern kingdoms. Not any of you."
Sara nods at Neo, an understanding passing between them. They both would die for a person in this building, and that was enough for her to know they were trustworthy.
Saraphina rolls her eyes at Alice, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yes, because you have scrolls and scrolls of evidence and lineage to support that claim."
Alice chuckles and produces said scrolls and scrolls of evidence. "And you were saying…?"
Saraphina raises her eyebrows at Alice. She reaches for the scrolls— but a voice at the door stops her.
Alice laughs at Sara's expression- then hears the person as well. She tenses and is up in a flash. She goes to the door cautiously.
