Henry stumbled, swaying on his feet and pressing one hand to the knife wound. He was bleeding out, though, and the stain spread over his vest.
Henry stumbled, swaying on his feet and pressing one hand to the knife wound. He was bleeding out, though, and the stain spread over his vest.
Gabe wiped his knife off, slipping it into his pocket. He turned to Alex, not looking at him yet.
"Let's go," he said quietly. He didn't want Alex to be associated with a murder. It would send him right back to Bedlam.
Alex's eyes were still dark, and he looked from Gabe to Henry. From his point of view, Henry had tried to attack Gabe, and now Gabe wanted to…run away?
Gabe bit his lip a little, reaching out to take Alex's hand. Not seeing how dark his eyes were.
"Please, Alex-"
Alex tugged his hands away, shaking his head. "I'm…I…"
"Please, Alex. It's… it's important that we go." Gabe reached out for Alex's hand again.
Alex tugged his hands back again, biting his lip.
Gabe glanced at the bleesing out Henry, the back at Alex.
"We need to leave…"
Gabe put his hands on Alex's shoulders.
Alex stared up at him, green eyes black with his abilities.
"Everything is going to be okay…" Gabe slowly moved his hands down from Alex's shoulder, finally grabbing his hands.
Alex inhaled. "Gabe, no!" He pulled his hands back quickly, but it was already too late.
Gabe's eyes widened a bit, but he didn't seem to realize anything had happened to him yet.
Alex was shaking. "I'm sorry." He said softly. "I-I'm really s-sorry."
Gabe was confused a moment. Why? He looked down, only to see his own body crumpled on the ground. It didn't register, not really. Not yet. Gabe looked at Alex, so concerned for him.
"I…"
Alex started to cry, hiding his face in his hand and going to his knees. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." He said in a choked voice, shoulders shaking.
Gabe started to shake a little. He was dead. He was dead, and that was it. He sunk to his knees as well. He couldn't hug but hug Alex close.
"You… Alex, you have to run. Please, Alex, you need to get to the house. You can't get caught here."
Alex flinched, shaking his head and trembling. "I…I'm sorry…I'm sorry…"
It took Gabe a moment to realize why Alex had flinched. He was a ghost. Alex… Couldn't handle him. Gabe pulled away, close to tears.
"Alex, it wasn't your fault. You tried to stop me. But you have to run! You have to get away, before someone finds you! Alex, I-I can't let you go back there. You have to get away!"
Alex stared up at him for a moment, tears tracking down his cheeks. Then he sniffled, grabbed the picnic basket, and left, half stumbling.
Gabe followed behind Alex at a distance. He knew… He knew he probably would never be able to talk to Alex again. Still, he was going to watch over him. He was… He was going to keep him safe, even now.
Alex made it back to the house, going inside and barring the door. Then he collapsed onto the bed, sobbing.
Gabe tried to go into the apartment, but hissed to himself. The salt hurt. So, he leaned against the door, sliding down. He started crying softly. He was dead, and- and he could never be with Alex again.
I killed him. Alex curled into himself, sobbing. He had killed a man that…that he had been coming to love.
Gabe wiped at his tears. He'd never get to hold Alex again, or kiss him, out give him a smile when he needed one. It was… It was like Alex had died to Gabe. They were seperated now, and… There was nothing they could do.
At least Henry hadn't followed them.
(eat your words, Gabe :P)
There was a dry laugh from near him. "Believe me now that he's sick and messed up?" Henry had indeed followed, his face twisted in a sardonic smile.
