Edmund smiled at Lumi's sheer humbleness, and wanted nothing more than to express his gratitude. He inched a bit closer to the curled up figure. A hug?? No no no no, not that. A uh… A… Oh I do not know- He ended up just facing Lumi for an uncomfortable amount of time, before quickly turning back to the TV, mesmerized by the pattern on screen. "I thank thee, regardless."
"Mhmm…" Lumi turned on something mindless that he thought Edmund would enjoy and curled up a bit tighter with his eyes closed. He looked very small when he was huddled up like this, especially with their hands drawn close to their chest.
Edmund smiled at how… Cozy Lumi looked, inching even closer until they were almost touching. Sighing gently, he leaned back, watching the screen and occasionally looking over at Lumi, a soft smile across his lips.
Lumi yawned and slowly started to relax more. Their work was pretty exhausting and stressful, so he was always drained when he got back home. He shifted occasionally, but was otherwise still.
Edmund couldn't resist himself. He put an arm around Lumi, gently stroking his hair as his face reddened and he stared at the TV. He had never felt like… this before. He was terrified and exhilarated, and most of all, content. He simply sighed and willed himself to relax, closing his eyes softly as well
Lumi stirred a bit when Edmund touched them, but didn't move away. He was pretty much asleep by now, so they didn't particularly care what Edmund did. He hummed softly in his sleep, and in their shifting, their head soon fell to rest on Edmund's shoulder.
Edmund turned an even deeper shade of red, smiling softly as he adjusted himself to Lumi would be more comfortable. He kept his arm around the other, leaning slightly on him, as he felt himself drifting off to the monotonous sound of the television
Lumi seemed to settle down quickly enough, and they were soon fast asleep on the couch with Edmund. He was still asleep in the morning, and he was very close to Edmund.
Edmund woke early, like always, surprised he even fell asleep at all. He was a bit started seeing Lumi resting on him, but smiled softly, pulling them ever so slightly closer and leaning his head on the other's.
Lumi yawned a bit and huddled up, seeming warm and content. It took them a while to start to stir properly, and eventually he opened his eyes and looked around. They were confused to find themself on the couch, and more confused upon seeing Edmund.
Edmund noticed the other’s awakening, blushing profusely and looking down, though his arm still stayed around Lumi. “You uh… you fell asleep.” He stammered suddenly, feeling the need for an explanation
"Yeah, I can… I can see that. Sorry…" Lumi sighed and closed his eyes again, still very tired. "Didn't mean to encroach on your sleeping space… mmnh… should've gone to my room…" They mumbled sleepily.
Edmund laughed, giving Lumi a small squeeze as he leaned back. “It does not bother me. Er- doesn’t.” He chuckled, shrugging a bit. “Besides, you are quite comfortable-“ his face reddened as he cut himself off, clearing his throat suddenly
"Mmnh… I guess…" Lumi stretched a bit and then settled back down, curling up to keep warm. "How long have you been awake? Are you hungry?" They asked. "I should probably make breakfast soon…"
Edmund brought his arm closer around Lumi, noticing how cold they were.
“Not too much. I can be ready whilst you are.” He smiled, shrugging. “Besides, thou dost still seem tiresome.”
"Okay…" Lumi closed their eyes again and sighed, relaxing. "Waking up sucks… I just wanna sleep all day and do nothing sometimes. But I gotta work… work sucks too."
Edmund sighed, thinking for a moment. "Mayhap I accompany thee to work today? I shall help you complete the tasks early!" He beamed
"Ah… I'm not sure that's a good idea. I don't want you to get caught up in anything." Lumi laughed weakly.
Edmund chuckled, leaning in a bit more as he spoke. "Oh, pshaw! I will not get caught up!" He imagined the work couldn't be too much different from what he had done before. After all, humankind seemed the same.
"I just mean… it's kinda dangerous, and morally… iffy. I don't want to get you into any trouble." Lumi sighed and looked away, fidgeting with his hands a bit. "It's not a very good idea."
Edmund tilted his head, gazing into Lumi's eyes with confusion. "What dost thou do?" He said, almost a whisper
Lumi shook their head a bit, still avoiding eye contact. "I-I don't really want to talk about it, okay? I told you it was more unconventional…"
Edmund went quiet, nodding as he removed his arm from behind Lumi. "Alright." He muttered quietly.
Lumi sighed and got to his feet. "We should probably eat something for breakfast now, yeah?"
Edmund nodded solemnly, choosing to keep quiet as he followed Lumi to the kitchen once more. "What shall we have?"
