"Okay… I guess the Advil must've kicked in while I was asleep. Doesn't hurt as much anymore…" Lumi yawned and rubbed at his eyes sleepily before getting comfortable against Edmund again. "Mm… have you learned anything from the movie…?" They asked.
Edmund smiled, rubbing his hand down Lumi's arm while he haid back into the couch.
"Oh, lots. Like the creatures known as hobbits and that elves are…. quite beautiful and sauron is always watching and not to trust people who live in caves." He mumbled, smiling.
Lumi smiled softly and nodded. "Yeah… none of them are real, of course, but they're fun to watch anyway. Do you wanna watch the next one? Or something else?" He asked, picking up the remote to put on the next movie.
Edmund chuckled, shifting his position slightly while he leaned a bit on Lumi, continuing his soft touch on the other. "I think you should pick." He answered, sighing gently.
"Well, I'm probably gonna fall asleep again anyway, so it doesn't really matter." Lumi shrugged. "If you don't have a preference, though, I'll just put on the next Lord of the Rings movie for you." They yawned and managed to find the second movie for Edmund to watch.
Edmund laughed, pulling Lumi a bit closer while he smiled, secretly wanting the next film anyways. He yawned gently after Lumi, pulling a blanket around the both of him while his own eyes started to become heavy with sleep. "That sounds… lovely." He muttered, more content than he had ever been in his life.
Deep amongst the shadows where the people are too scared to go, something stirs, feeling itself awaken.
It took no time at all for Lumi to fall back asleep against Edmund. Edmund was surprisingly comfortable, to be honest, and Lumi was perfectly content to leech off of his warmth. They occasionally stirred at loud sounds from the movie, but otherwise stayed quiet and still. It was definitely good that he had a break from work today.
Edmund sighed, leaning graciously on Lumi while he continued his gently rubs. He eventually fell asleep himself, unaware of the dangers he had unleashed.
He never should have trusted those demons
A swirling, writhing mass of nightmares receded out of it's hiding place, silently approaching Edmund, staying unseen.
Lumi was entirely unaware of the demons approaching his apartment. They were still sleeping contentedly on the couch beside Edmund, and he looked pretty comfortable for now. They yawned, smiling softly in their sleep and curling up closer to Edmund.
Edmund pulled Lumi closer, needing his touch and wanting him to be warm. He soon had the other in his lap, contentedly smoothing their hair
The demons found their way into the house, forms of shadows twisting through the room while they approached Edmund.
"The child of the devil! He is found!"
Lumi seemed comfortable enough in Edmund's lap, keeping his hands close to his chest as they rested their head on Edmund's shoulder. He stirred at the sound of the whispers approaching, as well a cold sense of foreboding. They shuddered and whined softly, curling up tighter.
Edmund felt the cold sting, thinking it was the loss of Lumis warmth as he held them closer to his chest, wrapping his arms around the other before blinking open his eyes.
There it was.
Edmund froze, staring at the mass of shadowy tendrils before picking up Lumi and backing up slowly. "Do. not. move."
Lumi shifted a bit more in Edmund's arms and opened his eyes, glancing around blearily. Soon, their eyes focused on the ambiguous, horrifying mass and he froze, clinging tightly to Edmund. They whispered something incoherent, and he was trembling violently as he stared wide-eyed at the demonic presences. They honestly had no idea what to do.
Edmund held Lumi tightly, keeping him away from the direction of the demons while he glared. "What do you want?? I did what you asked of me!!" He cried
The shadows laughed, a layered tone that shook the room. "We want you. You're powerful to us."
Edmund backed up, starting to whisper something while he closed his eyes
Lumi held tighter to Edmund. He wanted to run, to get far away from the demons, but they were frozen where they were. "R-Run… p… please…" He whispered shakily. "Run… get away f-from them… Edmund, please…"
Edmund started muttering louder, opening his eyes to reveal they had changed to a bloodred hue. The demons writhed in agony, drawing back as edmund continued. He simply held Lumi tighter in response.
Lumi buried his face in Edmund's shoulder as though losing sight of the demons would make them go away. They were desperately trying to convince themself that this was just a dream, and if he hoped enough, he would wake up and it would all be over.
Edmund watched as they dissipated, leaving them alone… at least for now. Edmund would have to try really hard to protect their- Lumi's home.
"It is alright. It's okay." He shakily muttered, rocking Lumi gently. "Th-they be gone. All is well"
Lumi's grip on Edmund only tightened, and he bit his lip to try and ground himself. They were terrified, sure, but they didn't want to humiliate themself in front of Edmund. Even so, he hiccuped weakly and kept his face hidden. "Are they gonna c-come back…?" They asked, his voice shaky and quiet.
Edmund pursed his lips, looking around the room before his gaze fell back on the terrified Lumi.
He felt so bad.
"I… I don't know." He muttered, holding Lumi tighter while he closed his eyes. "I will not let them hurt you, though. I promise this. They will not even get near you." He shook, sinking to the ground as he kept his hold on Lumi. "This is my doing… I…. I am so terribly sorry." He rasped out
Despite Lumi's best efforts, he choked and lapsed into quiet, fearful sobs. There had just been demons in their apartment, for god's sake. He had a right to be scared out of his mind, but that didn't mean they didn't feel ashamed of their involuntary actions. "W-What can I do to keep them away…?" He asked weakly.
Edmund started to cry with him, smoothing his hair as if to say, It's ok, i'm scared too.
"I don't know" He cried, putting his head down as his sobs became more profound
Lumi kept his face hidden as he cried and clung to Edmund. "B-But you… you have t-to know… didn't you live with them? Don't you… isn't there some way to k-keep them away?"
Edmund shook his head profusely, rocking them gently back and forth while he held onto Lumi like he was the last thing on earth.
"I…I didn't live with them. I don't want to ever see them again!!" He cried, looking back down at his hand, which was bleeding abundantly out of his branded scar. He gasped, wrapping it in his silk shirt while he began to cry. "I am so sorry…"
Lumi froze up when Edmund yelled in reply, completely still for a moment before he began shaking violently again. "I'm sorry… I'm s-sorry… I-I just don't… I d-don't want them in my apartment, a-and I d— don't know what t-to do to keep them away…"
