Edmund nodded again as he generously ate his ramen. "Oh yes! The window box! I would love to watch them with thou- uhโฆ you!"
Edmund nodded again as he generously ate his ramen. "Oh yes! The window box! I would love to watch them with thou- uhโฆ you!"
"Mhmm. The TV. It'll probably be easier for you to learn by listening to them, yeah?" Lumi got to his feet so he could go wash his bowl in the sink.
Edmund smiled, then followed suit, helping to wash the dishes. "Andโฆ would you stay with me? Or must you work?" He asked sadly
"I don't have to work today, so I can stick around." Lumi smiled softly in return. "I could use the rest, anyway. My whole body achesโฆ which reminds me that I should take some Advil." He pulled the bottle out of the cabinet and swallowed a couple of pills.
Edmund smiled, then tilted his head, watching the other obviously exhibit signs of exhaustion. "Wouldโฆ you like me to help?" He asked tenderly, pulling up a sleeve to reveal his brand. "I can. I promise it will go smoothly"
Lumi looked up at Edmund, clearly a bit wary. "I dunnoโฆ is it safe? I'm not really sure how I feel about magic as a whole since it'sโฆ I dunno. I'm not familiar with it, I guess. I didn't think it existed at all. What would you be doing to me?"
Edmund wrung his hands together, being gentle around his burn scar which never seemed to heal, always a searing pain to remind him of what he had done in the past. "Iโฆ It does have it's disadvantages." He trailed off, pursing his lips. "But, for the most part, it does work." He gave a nervous smile, shrugging slightly. "I would take away the hurt, give thine energy back. revitalize you."
"Mmnhโฆ does it hurt you to help me like that, though? Does itโฆ uhโฆ I dunnoโฆ feel weird?" Lumi asked awkwardly, rubbing the back of their neck with one hand. "I don't wanna inconvenience you or hurt you or anything. I can handle being a bit sore and tired."
Edmund sighed, choosing not to answer the question. He rocked slowly back and forth while he continued to rub his chafed hands. "And I do not wish the same for you." He chuckled, tilting his head at the other. "I don't want you to oft be so tired"
"Edmundโฆ you didn't answer. I don't wanna do it if it hurts you, okay? I've been through way worse than this." Lumi sighed softly, wincing a bit as he moved his aching joints. "I-I can always just take a nap for a while if I need to."
Edmund shook his head. "It won't hurt. Truly." He lied, masking it with a genuine smile. "And, regardless, I still do not want you to be in pain. I will gladly help you if you will let me."
Lumi looked up at Edmund, clearly still not completely convinced. "I-I dunnoโฆ I'm still not sure I want to do it. Let's justโฆ let's just go watch the movie and maybe I'll think about it." He fidgeted with his hands a bit as they headed over to the couch.
Edmund nodded with understanding, sighing as he brought himself over to the couch before grabbing a few blankets for Lumi. "What movie be your favorite?" He asked, feeling a bit bad that he had frightened the other
Lumi huddled up in a blanket and pulled out the remote to scroll through the movie options. "Umโฆ I'm not really sure what my favorite is. I like a lot of movies. What kind of things do you think you would like? Were there any stories you've heard that you were interested in?"
Edmund tilted his head, still fascinated by the modern technology so readily available. He tapped his fingers, watching the options before speaking again. "I do likeโฆ adventures with conquests, and heroes and lovers and scary monsters and-" He cut himself off, blushing. "Mum used to tell me lots of stories like that."
"Alright. You'd probably like Lord of the Rings, then." Lumi shrugged and pulled up the first Lord of the Rings movie. "It's got most of those things from what I remember. Not sure how good it is for teaching you modern language, butโฆ it's good anyway."
Edmund smiled, then fond himself moving a bit closer to Lumi whilst waching the flicking lights on the television.
"Well, if it durst not teach language, then mayhap we need not to view it. I'm fine watching anythingโฆ"
But when the first view of middle earth entered the screen, Edmund was hooked, staring at the lush landscape and the curious creatures with complete attentiveness
"We've got time to watch a few movies. You might as well learn what we find entertaining as well, yeah? I think you'll like it." Lumi yawned and shifted a bit closer to Edmund, still huddled up tightly underneath their warm blankets. Considering his exhaustion, it seemed to take no time at all for him to fall asleep with his head on Edmund's shoulder.
Edmund was already fascinated, feeling a bit at home among the complex language and poor cottages. Though, nothing was quite as nice as the feeling of Lumi's head on his shoulder. He was a bit startled, and quite surprised, but a small smile pulled at his lips while he relaxed, tucking the blankets across Lumi's small frame. "Thank you." He whispered
Lumi hummed quietly in his sleep, shifting to a position where he was huddled closer to Edmund. They seemed content for now; they had already seen Lord of the Rings, so he wasn't really missing out on anything by getting a little bit of extra sleep right now. They were still a bit disheveled and scuffed up, and it seemed to hurt them to move much at all.
Edmund smiled, his attention now on the person asleep on him rather than the screen. He shifted his own position to better accompany Lumi's then tilted his head, noticing a few bruises and abrasions.
Tentatively, he raised a hand over the other, focusing while he muttered something under his breath.
Lumi shifted and whined in his sleep when he felt the effects of magic. Their expression changed and they furrowed their brows, and he curled up tighter against the feeling. He just wanted to keep very close to Edmund for comfort while he was still fast asleep.
Edmund closed his own eyes, exerting greatly to make the magic work perfectly while he put an arm around Lumi to steady them.
He sighed as he aches and pains Lumi felt were transferred to his own body, before being dispelled into nothingness.
He sighed with relief, smiling as he continued to hold the other
Lumi seemed to relax more once the pain was gone, but still kept very close to Edmund. He was exhausted, and they definitely needed the rest while they could get it. Eventually, he stirred again after the movie was almost over. "Mmnhโฆ oh, sorryโฆ I must've fallen asleepโฆ" They mumbled tiredly.
Edmund was leaning on Lumi generously, lost in the movie, and somewhat in his own thoughts, when he was startled back to the real world.
"Oh, you are quite alright. Please, rest." He insisted, helping Lumi to relax again. "You need it, I can tell." He muttered, shivering at the thought of Lumi's pains
