(Hmm)
(Just this once there’s way less portals in the world and also even though they still exist no one tells them about the portals because they just assume “everyone knows about the portals”)
(Fair)
(Wandering is fun)
Resh looks around, then looks at the… paper? Is that paper? No, that’s not right. He picks it up, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Teth and Tsadi watch as Resh starts looking around. Teth gives him a small wave. “Welcome back to the land of the living.”
Resh looks at Teth. “Hello-“ He looks back at the scroll-thing as he stands up. Wonder what this is.
It’s the same map of the world that Teth showed him, glowing dots and all. A map made of stars. Only, it was smaller. And the borders of the map have words in an unrecognized language all the way around.
(Map map map)
(The map of forest is a bit useless if they’re uh, leaving forest-)
(Pft- yes)
Resh tilts his head. “Ohh- it’s the map. That’ll be useful.” He looks back over at Teth and Tsadi. “She told me that she couldn’t help… but there’s this Elder of Knowledge that can. We just need to travel all the way to the other side of here-“ He points to where they are, then drags his finger in a straight line across to where Teth had told him to go. “This is gonna take a long time, that’s for sure… oh- she also said that we’re at the connecting point between the forest and the, uh… snowy mountains. Yeah. So I’m pretty sure that door over there leads to the mountains.”
Teth tilts her head as she listens to Resh. “Snowy mountains? That sounds right up your alley.” She grins, then looks over at the door. “Well, we should probably get going if this is gonna be a long journey, shouldn’t we?”
Resh nods, and the three of them all head to the door on the other side of the temple.
The door slowly opens, grinding against the floor. On the other side of the temple, the forest becomes more sparse. The air is significantly colder on the other side.
(starts vibrating because can annoy rat man soon)
(hell yeah I get to BE rat man)
(heheheheh)
Resh takes a deep breath as he steps outside. Just like home. Or… my former home. He looks happy, but also a little sad.
Teth shivers and wraps her cloak around herself. “How do you not freeze to death in this weather?”
Resh looks down at Teth. “When you live in cold weather for so long, you kind of get used to it.”
Teth sighs. “Let’s just keep moving. It’ll keep us a little warmer.”
The path continues on for a while. As the trees disappear the snow starts to build up. In the near-distance, mountains rise high over the horizon. Large patches of evergreen trees grow on them, concentrating on the bottom and spreading to the flat ground below. They seem much smaller than the towering trees of the forest they were just in. The path seems to move into the Evergreen forest.
Resh looks around. “I remember I would race down mountains almost every day… surprised that I never broke a bone. I’ve gotten a few sprains, though…” He seems to be partially talking to himself.
Teth listens intently to Resh, grateful for anything that would distract her from the cold. She starts walking a bit faster than normal.
(I could listen to Resh talk to himself all day this man is very interesting)
The wind picks up, making the cold just that much more biting. The sky above starts to turn grey with clouds. The forest is much closer now, promising a shield from the winds.
(I’ll take that as a compliment on my writing)
(Pff- yes)
(He has the same vibes as my dad where he’ll start talking about some random thing that happened in his life and it’s always wild and I am always amazed because shit who wouldn’t be)
(Pfft)
Teth huffs. “Why is it so cold-”
Resh pats Teth on the head, and she slaps his hand away. “Oh, stop it. You’ll live.”
Tsadi stays silent, following the group and looking around a bit.
The forest is extremely silent compared to the other one. There were less creature noises, and the snow fell quietly. There’s the occasional sound of piled up snow on the trees becoming too heavy, and falling off the branches in a powdery downfall. Not something you’d want to be under if you wanted to keep warm.
Tsadi and Resh start walking on either side of Teth, trying to block some of the wind from her. Mostly so she stops complaining about the cold. Resh pulls his hood over his head and stares at the ground, starting to zone out slightly.
Teth stays quiet for a while. Complaining about the cold won’t make it go away, probably.
