(HAHA-)
The trio soon stumble across an abandoned village in the middle of a large clearing. The houses are made from wood and stone. Despite the empty streets and unlit houses, there are footprints in the snow. Relatively fresh ones too, given they haven’t been blown over and erased yet.
Teth notices the footprints in the snow. Huh. That’s weird… in an abandoned place like this? She shrugs it off and keeps walking, staying a little behind Resh this time.
Resh continues staring at the ground and mumbling to himself, lost in his own thoughts. As the trio quickly walks deeper into the abandoned village, Resh’s thoughts are interrupted when he walks right into someone. He stumbles backwards a bit. “Ah- shit, sorry-“ He looks up and blinks a few times, clearly startled.
(I summon thee,,)
(rat man)
The man swiftly turns around when Resh walks into him. He has a spear put away on his back. He looks angry for a moment, before going to a neutral but somehow still pissed-off expression. He looks Resh dead in the eye. “Apology accepted. What are you doing in this village?” He seems to have an air of authority.
(Congratulations rat man I already want to slap you to the stratosphere)
(Oh come on he was being nice this time I could’ve been much ruder)
(Also I’m just incredibly biased)
Resh raises his eyebrows slightly, crossing his arms. I can already tell this is gonna be absolutely wonderful. “I could ask you the same question, sir.”
Teth sighs. “We were just passing through.”
The man looks at the three of them, expression unchanging. “You do not have the authority to ask me that question. This is the middle of a military operation, so I suggest you pass through a different way.” His voice had a threatening undertone to it.
Resh nods, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Mhmm… you’re not very mentally stable, are you?”
Teth elbows Resh. “You can’t just say that-!”
Resh ignores Teth and tilts his head.
The man narrows his eyes, taking out his spear and pointing it under Resh’s chin. ”Don't toy with me. You don’t know who I am, do you?”
Resh tilts his head upward slightly, rolling his eyes. He glances down at the man. “No, actually, I don’t. Would you care to enlighten me?” His tone is clearly sarcastic.
(Meanwhile Resh is like “damn I need to impale someone today don’t I :/“)
(deep inhale channel your inner entitled psychopath)
The man removes the spear from under Resh’s chin, placing it back at his side. “I am Cyrus, Crown Prince of the Manta kingdom and leader of the military. Now who are you?” He makes a gesture with his free hand, and four or five men in similar uniforms to Cyrus’s appear from behind buildings. They all carry weapons. None of them make a threatening move yet.
(If Resh starts a new war,)
(Actually I don’t know how to finish that sentence)
Resh lets out a low growl as the other men appear, but doesn’t take his eyes off of Cyrus. “Resh Corvus.” He grips the hilt of his sword, visibly tense.
Tsadi’s hand twitches slightly, as if he wants to take out his spear. Not a good idea. Wait to see if they’ll attack first.
(Look I don’t want to kill anyone but like,,,, homie come on)
Cyrus tilts his head at Resh and Tsadi. They're reaching for their weapons. I know. Just kill them! That’s the worst idea you could think of. Did he say his name was Resh? That’s not important, get them to go away. “Resh Corvus, I suggest you and your friends leave.”
Teth glares at Cyrus. “What the hell were we doing wrong-? What, do you expect us to go all the way around this place just so you don’t bother us? We’re just passing through, peacefully, and we have no fucking idea how to get from here to- Resh, give me the map-“ She points at the spot on the map that Resh told her they needed to get to. “to here, without cutting through. We’ll leave soon enough if you get out of our way.”
Resh looks down at Teth, startled. There’s no way we’re gonna make it out of here without a fight now. He’s insane- and probably insanely pissed now that Teth just said that. He grips his sword tighter. “…We should just get going-“
