Resh froze and glanced at the others, letting out a low growl. “Who the hell…”
He glared at Nathaniel as he hissed at him and Juni. His growl became louder and more pronounced, seemingly without his knowledge. He backed away slightly, looking at everyone else warily. “Who are you?” He asked aggressively. His accent was strange and difficult to understand.
Juni glanced around with wide eyes, clearly scared of all these new people. She pushed away from Resh and stared at everyone. She flared her wings and hunched over in a defensive position, reaching for her daggers.
(Sorry for my short responses yall 😭)
Naveil's nose twitched. Something wasn't right. Mulitple somethings, actually. The air was too stale, the ground was too coarse, and it was much too warm. He could feel foreign smells assaulting his senses.
He jolted up from his sleep. As the world blurred into view, the first thing he saw was… Cadastern. He muttered a swear at her - the bonehead - and turned to take in his surroundings. This was all… new. He immediately took note of the numbers - there were too many strangers in this cave to fight off. His vision was nearly clear, and his eyes had adjusted to the dimness.
…Does that one have… wings? And are those two… glowing?
Naveil felt his breaths quicken, but he held his composure - and his tongue. For now, at least.
He shot a degrading glare at Cadastern once more, and with a rumbling growl, he asked only two words:
"What. Happened."
Cadastern responded to her sibling with a soft shush. Which was the wrong thing to do, apparently. She caught a look of absolute hatred from him, and for a moment, Cada couldn't help but feel that he was just about to rip her face off…
But he gave a long, dramatic exhale and turned his attention to the others in the cave. She knew exactly what that meant… He was sizing every last one of them up. She could practically hear his thoughts…
"Too tall, like a tree- I could maybe- That one's small, I should- Wings are definitely an issue, but- Quit staring at me, Cad."
She shot him a much-less-intense-but-still-angry-look before she realized someone had spoken. One of the glowing lantern-people…
"I'm… Cadastern- Cada's fine," She began. "And this is my brother, N–"
"Half-brother. Get it right. Name's Naveil."
(Get ready to see these two dweebs fight all day-)
Tseth’s eyes dart around, looking at all the people. His eyes land on Resh when he asks who everyone is. “Tsethlekai Stryker. King of the Dark Dragons. Who are you?” His tone is harsh, and a low growl of his own can be heard, seemingly separate from his speech.
Alex puts a hand on Tseth’s arm. Tseth looks down at him for a moment, and his wings retract from their defensive position slightly. “You’re alright, Tseth.” He looks to Resh. “I’m Alex.” He looks around again, at the strange device one person dropped, and every other weird thing. His own wings and tail twitch with anxiety at everyone’s conversations. What the hell.
Nathaniel glared around. Nothing was here. Everything was nothing — except the two figures standing within the care. No, multiple. He stepped away from Resh and Juni, his face forming a snarl. They were a danger. He didn’t care for other winged individuals — especially ones who growled at him. Nathaniel stood on high alert, his back straight. This made him look bigger. “Why should you know my name?” He hissed. No one was to be trusted. Everyone could easily be dangerous. Even the agent he knew. He couldn’t let his guard down. Dirt particles burst in the air, the insolent shifting of his feet kicking them up. This was a drag. He’d rather be home than in a dreary cave.
Jax had scrambled away from the group, drawing his knees to his chest. He didn’t want to be around the others. There were too many people. Resh scared him and Juni brought forth his sympathy. He swallowed harshly, the aggressive man asking for everyone’s names. “I’m, um, Jax.” He muttered, unsure of what to do with himself. There were too many strange people, and he felt like the only human in the room. Demon lords, dragons, and glowing people. It made his head spinning, his vision swirling. He only hoped to make it out alive — without any jabs from Nathaniel. Jax could hardly stand the man. He placed a hand on his sword, tension growing in his shoulders. Just in case — that’s all his sword was there for. Just in case.
(oooo aggression seems to be popular)
(It's totally ok, Ame! I'm glad I won't be a nuisance any longer. Am I still ok to stalk it when I have time?)
(And yes, aggression is fantasmeriffic)
(Yeah, of course! Stalk all you want ^^)
(Pandora if you don’t respond I’m going to step on a crack)
(steps on a crack welp were down another member)
(NOOOOO NOOOO NOOO cries i'm literally writing my response instead of doing school work)
(I’m kidding mummmmmm ily take ur time)
"My name is Gabriella Bianchi, and this," here Gabriella pointed to Nicoletta. "Is my friend Nicoletta Cerasani." Her voice, oddly enough, was not warm and inviting like it usually was. It was cold, and there was an underlying hint of…unease? The young woman watched the others with narrowed eyes, her mind picking on little things that would be useful to her in the future. Anything she could use against them. Next to her, she could feel Nicoletta shivering, and she takes off her black coat, handing it over to Nico, who takes it graciously. Whatever these people were she did not like them. And she certainly did not like being in this cave. She nods slightly at Nico's thank you, a small smile appearing on her face. But that smile quickly disappears as she realizes the amount of missed business calls she would have the moment she returns home. If I ever return home.
Dragons. There are literal dragons here. That was her first thought as her eyes finally adjusted to the cave, and was able to truly glance around. It was exciting and rather frightening at the same time. Her younger self would go completely insane at this information. As she continues glancing around, Nico sighs a little, not really liking the aggression that some of the people were showing, but at the same time, she really couldn't blame them. She walks over to Gabriella and just stands next to her. Nico was about to introduce herself when Gabriella suddenly starts to introduce herself in her "all of you are pathetic fools" voice. Nico frowns again. She had never used that voice around strangers. It was only to those who she really disliked, her enemies if you would, that had the honor of being addressed with that tone. This worried her greatly, and she hoped that Gabby wouldn't do something stupid. She starts to think about why they were all in this cave, and where they were. She was so deep in her thoughts that she had no idea she had started shivering until Gabriella had given Nicoletta her coat. She takes it with a smile, and as she puts it on, she murmurs a small thank you.
Resh looked at Tseth, tilting his head. “…King? Of the Dark Dragons? Right.” He rolled his eyes. “You must be delusional. The Dark Dragons have no king.” He glared at Nathaniel. “Oh, I’m so sorry. How rude of me to ask for your name.” He looked at the others, and sighed. “Look, I’ll tell you mine. Resh Corvus. Happy?” He looked at Nathaniel again, raising an eyebrow. “Now, would you bother telling a poor peasant your name?”
Juni glanced at Resh as he spoke. She nudged him slightly. “Hey— maybe we shouldn’t get ourselves killed here..?” She looked at the rest of the group. “I- I’m Juniper Aquila, if anyone cares…” She lowered her voice to a meek mumble. “But… but just call me Juni.” She looked around at everyone again, her wings still flared out. She grabbed the handles of her daggers, just in case.
Cadastern nodded along with everyone's introduction. Almost everyone's, that is. She took a particular suspicion towards the nameless one, and she tried to see if she could discern anything about him. Beside her, she knew Naveil was doing the same. She could read him like parchment sometimes, that one. Like a twitchy-tailed felid watching birds. In more ways than one.
Cada huffed at him - not that he'd notice, anyhow - and returned her attention to the lantern-people. They had wings, too, she realized, as they spoke. She felt a pang sympathy for the smaller one of the pair. And the bigger one..? Snarky, just like her sibling, but with an underlying threat in his tone that she wouldn't risk. She'd make extra sure to keep on his good side.
"Lovely names, you two. And everyone else here, as well."
She flashed a soft smile to Resh and Juni, ingraining their names in her head. They seemed to be the most reasonable ones here.
Besides herself, of course.
Naveil took a particular interest in the nameless one. He blinked some sleepy fuzz out of his vision, and he narrowed his eyes at him.
His voice took on a new tone, more snide and silvery than how he had spoken to Cadastern.
"Someone's keeping secrets, aren't they?"
Naveil sat cross-legged, and he leaned on his arms. The nameless one was one of the bigger threats the cave had to offer, but a bit of antagonism couldn't hurt, could it? Especially not when it seemed that Resh was on his side. Resh would make a nice ally, wouldn't he?
Naveil turned back to the others, though there were occasional glances at the nameless one. Admittedly, he was curious. At least everyone else here seemed just as confused about this situation as he was. A faint smile tugged at his lips, but it wasn't one of kindness.
It was of anticipation.
Tseth’s practically glaring daggers at Resh when he says this. ”Delusional? Says the man who claims his name is Resh.” He turns his attention to the rest of the group, demeanor changing quickly. “A pleasure to meet you all. At least, the ones willing to introduce themselves.” He glances at Nathaniel when he says this. He doesn’t seem too pleasant. I could say that for a couple people here. He looks at Gabriella, who’s practically sizing everyone up. Everyone here could turn out to be a problem.
Next to Tseth, Alex is shifting on his feet. He looks at both Juni and Jax, who both seem very aggravated by their situation. I don’t blame them… getting sent here with a bunch of unfamiliar people. What even is this place? He looks at the surroundings of the cave, but there really wasn’t much besides the people in it. “Shouldn’t we be trying to get out of this cave instead of starting arguments..?” He mumbles under his breath, barely heard if not for the echoing of the cave.
(We are ganging up on Nathaniel. ❤️)
Nathaniel scoffed, rolling his eyes. He looked at everyone, trying to gauge their strength and tempers. It seemed quite a few were short tempered. How peculiar. “My name? It is Nathaniel. Happy now?” He held Resh gaze, unblinking. He would hold his ground. He noticed the eyes on him, his skin prickling with uneasiness. “I don’t keep secrets. I protect what is mine.” He hissed, backing himself further into a corner. Nathaniel was like a rabid dog, unapproachable and scared. Though, he could never show fear consuming himself. It showed weakness, which he never liked. He let the cave’s darkness consume him as he backed away from the ridicule.
Jax hated Nathaniel. They were far from pleasantries and every time Nathaniel spoke, it unsettled him, a shiver rushing up his spine. He could do so much to protect himself. He swallowed the lump in his throat. He got to his feet, legs shaking from the exerting strength taken from him to force himself up. Jax’s hand stayed on the hilt of his sword, watching everyone with fear. The man was wary like a stray dog, scared of any confrontation that could occur.
