He allowed himself to just stand by the bed, resisting to walk around and make all sorts of unwanted noise. I really don't know where we're going after this…. Maybe we'll just stay in the wild forever? Live in a cave or a tree or something???…. I'm just unsure…. My cabin was the perfect place…. Or do I build another one somewhere in the woods?… His mind spun crazily, and he absentmindedly began to pace.
Emmeline continued to wander, looking at all of the people and shops. She saw a bakery and was tempted to go in by the smell of freshly baked bread, ignoring her growling stomach for now and wandering on. The streets were pretty crowded for this time of day and she smiled lightly, actually liking being around so many people, it gave her a way to hide from her mind and its questions.
Miles glanced out the window as he passed, closing the cloth curtains and sitting himself back on the fur-covered bed. "I don't know how long she'll be… I mean… Maybe I can go and get my own food… But that's too much of a risk…."
Eventually she sighed and turned around, heading back to the inn. She passed by the bakery again and bought a small loaf of bread, buying another cut of meat from the butchers when she got to it.
Miles was back on the bed, and he curled up into a not-so little floof ball and closed his eyes to take a nap. The more sleep now, the less pain later…
She walked to the inn gain, slipping into their room as quietly as she could. She set the bread and meat down and tried to be as quiet as possible, sitting on the very edge of the bed and looking around.
Miles untucked his snout from his side and glanced up at her. "Did you have a good stroll around?…." He asked lazily. I would eat, but I'm awfully tired from sleeping all day…
(Oof wow….)
(That's a mood though)
Emmeline nodded, shifting so that she was sitting further on the bed, "It was quite nice, there were a ton of people out there though." She said, "I also got you another cut of meat, and some bread for myself."
"Thank you…" He said quietly, letting out a gentle sigh. "It might be some time before I eat, though… Because I want to sleep right now…"
"Another nap wouldn't hurt," She agreed, laying down. Her stomach growled and she sighed, sitting back up and grabbing the small loaf of bread, "I guess I am eating.."
Miles grunted as he shifted around. "I guess you are…" He tucked his snout cutely against his body as he fell asleep for his nap.
She smiled and ripped a small piece off, popping it into her mouth. He was quite adorable all curled up and she smiled again, glancing at him.
He opened a single eye and glanced up at her, flushing a bit. "Do you mind?" He said sarcastically. "I'm trying to sleep without people watching me…."
"Sorry," She replied, blushing slightly and looking away, "You just looked adorable all curled up." She took another piece of bread and ate it, looking around the room so she wouldn't focus on him.
"Of course I do," He said proudly, going back to sleep. Why wouldn't I look adorable? I'm practically a human in a dog's body… Almost…
She chucked lightly and finished the bread, laying down so she could take a nap. She stayed on her edge of the bed and gave him the rest of the room on the bed.
Miles slept peacefully, his ears and tail flicking periodically. He took a peek and saw her on the edge of the bed. While still trying to maintain his floof ball form, he scooted down to snuggle with her. Why sleep by yourself when you can be with me?
Emmeline looked over and saw that Miles had come closer, a small smile appearing on her face. She lightly pressed herself next to him, still giving him quite a lot of space.
Miles let out a sigh, finally settling down to take his nap. His stomach growled nonetheless, but he ignored it and slept as he planned.
She drifted off to sleep as well, unconsciously moving closer to him as she slept.
Several hours passed, and Miles was brought out of his deep sleep. He stirred a bit when his stomach growled, but he didn't get up. Perhaps I should eat at least something before I eat everything we have….
She mumbled something under her breath and rolled over, almost falling off the edge of the bed when she rolled over.
Miles uncurled himself just enough to stretch an arm out and hug Emmeline closer to him. He grumbled something and flicked his tail irritably before falling back asleep.
She sighed lightly and snuggled into him, a nightmare starting as she slept. She pressed her eyes shut tighter and rolled slightly, mumbling again.
Miles felt Emmeline rolling around, and it stirred him a little. "Emmeline…." He said softly, trying to get her to wake up. He pressed his nose into her head gently.
