Glenn considered that for a few minutes, trying to narrow down his list of hobbies to find his favorite. "Oh, that's hard! I guess… studying my magic. It's really exhilarating to learn new things about myself, y'know? Every time I find something new it just… it just kinda gives me a whole new outlook on life." Glenn blushed when he realized he'd basically spilled his guts, tacking on "but that's just me being a nerd about magic! It's really not that deep!"
Rykah shrugged, "I could beg to differ on that, just understanding the elements that I have takes a whole bunch of other stuff…"
Glenn nodded. He'd always counted himself lucky because divination was a very well studied kind of magic, even if it was murky and strange sometimes. "Yeah. I mean, there are hundreds of books on divination and I still have a lot to learn. I can't imagine dealing with chaos and harmony magic at the same time."
"Try a pair of very specif brands of Harmony and Chaosd, ones that have major history.." said Rykah.
Glenn winced in sympathy. "That sounds like a pain. I know I'm not the highest authority on that kind of stuff, but I know a couple of magic depositories that might have something. If you want the help, I mean. I'm not trying to intrude."
"It's alright, I doubt you'd find anything anyway…" he said, "Besides, I already know most of the history…"
"Yeah, you're probably right," Glenn smiled, taking in the scenery as he thought up his question. "Can I ask about that history as my next question?"
Rykah shrugged, "There's quite a lot to tell, but to cut it short the two separate elements have been linked to a very long struggle between a series of guardians for each. This ended when my grandpa and his brother came into the picture, but the events after that are a little more complicated"
Glenn nodded, filing away the information because it seemed like something someone should know about their soulmate. "That sounds… really cool, actually." He smiled softly, a little ashamed of his own family history. "The most my family's ever done is mandatory military service, so I'm not really a legacy like you are."
(I just realized some of my summer is kinda packed, so i wanted to tell you that i'm going to be off for two weeks starting the 16th and ending the 28th, and then I have a family vacation from the 29th to July 14th so replies'll be limited. after that i'm pretty much home free)
"Did I mention that their claim on it was accidental?" Said Rykah. "It's a whole mess of stuff that happened."
(Coolio, I have no clue what my schedule will be like, so I'll update as I go)
(great! thanks for keeping me updated)
Glenn laughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Still… It's interesting. You have all this stuff that happened, all these stories. It seems really… nice, I guess. Um… anyway, I think it's your turn to ask a question."
(Yep…)
Rykah hummed, not necessarily in agreement, before nodding. "Alright… uhm… any siblings?"
"Yeah, I have 2! My sister Katerina and my brother. We're all really proud of Kat- she's super smart. She just got accepted to Harvard and she's only 17!" Glenn gushed, reaching for his phone and showing Rykah a picture of her holding her acceptance letter. She was smiling widely in the picture, wavy silver hair pulled back into a ponytail.
(grand parents came over, I'm going to be off for a while)
Rykah smiled when he realized the other was happy, "That's awesome" he said softly.
(Kk)
(I'm back, sorry I'm so late)
Glenn nodded excitedly, a wide smile splitting his face. "Yeah! I think I cried more than she did, to be honest. She's been studying forever but it all paid off. Full ride scholarship and everything!" He floated on air for a few minutes, basking in pride at his sister before he realized it was his turn to ask. "Oh shit, it's my turn! Um… what's your favorite memory?"
Rykah laughed a little at his adorable ranting, but hummed thoughtfully at the question. There were so many bad memories, how was he supposed to pick a good one? Then it dawned on him, "The day I managed to master my abilities.." he said softly, And come home… he thought, but he wasn't ready to go into that yet.
"You've already mastered yours?" Glenn asked, surprise painting his tone. Rykah looked so… young and his magic seemed so big and boundless. He quickly covered up his shock, trying to be respectful. "I just mean, you seem like your my age, and I'm… years from figuring out how to hone my abilities. But obviously, your magic is different from mine, so it would be wrong of me to assume that they'd work the same."
"Oh trust me I've still got a long way to go before I can actually master master it, but I managed to gain enough control to do something for myself, that I'd been trying to for awhile." He said, his voice going quite near the end.
Glenn noticed the emptiness in Rykah's tone and gently bumped their shoulders together. "That's where it all starts, right? You figure out how to use it, and then you figure out a little more, and then you're on the road to something big. And now you're walking down that road."
"Yeah," said Rykah, forcing back bad memories. "Uhm…. so…" he tried to think of another question.
"So…?" Glenn echoed, shooting him a small smile. "Is there anything else you wanna know about me? Any burning questions you just have to have answered?"
"I can't think of anything…" said Rykah with a shrug.
