Anton blinked. "I…was not aware, no." he replied.
Anton blinked. "I…was not aware, no." he replied.
Lloyd nodded a bit and looked down at the table awkwardly. "Like I said, he's alright, I just… figured you'd wanna know."
Anton nodded. "Well. That's good."
"Mhmm… he should hopefully be fully recovered soon. I still feel bad about it…" He sighed.
"It isn't your fault if he was stupid enough to get shot."
Lloyd looked up at Anton, surprised. "It wasn't stupidity, Anton. He was shot through a window while his back was turned. Don't you care?"
Anton sighed. "If he had been where he should have, it wouldn't have happened."
"I invited him, so technically, he was supposed to be there."
"Well, maybe you shouldn't be interfering with his job."
Lloyd rolled his eyes. "You can't work him to death, Anton. He'll be miserable."
"I'm not working him to death, don't be so dramatic. He's perfectly healthy except for the gunshot wound, and in any case, it seems to me that he was in better condition before you started interfering."
Lloyd flushed a bit and crossed his arms. "But I… he's happier when he's not constantly working. Life is different here, Anton. We want the staff to be happy here too."
Anton sighed, shaking his head a little bit. "Yeah? He's never complained about being otherwise, so. Way I see it, is you're constantly distracting him and I told him that I thought so. I thought I was clear about the fact that he needed to put his work first, screwing around with you second, but I suppose he didn't listen."
"Well, he's listening to me over you, apparently." Lloyd met Anton's eyes, his arms still crossed. Rightfully so.
"Right. Which would be all well and good if he was still working when he's with you, but he isn't. Instead, he's goofing off and ignoring all of the work he needs to be doing."
"He's not goofing off… he's giving me insight on what it's like for the people. I like to know that kind of thing."
"He's still ignoring his work when he's doing that, and it sets a bad precedent."
"A bad precedent? I'm not talking to him constantly. He's still getting his work done, Anton."
"Is he, though?" Anton squinted. "Is he really getting his work done, laying in a hospital bed?"
"Not right now, but I mean before. You can't expect him to be performing at 100% when he just got shot."
"I don't expect him to be performing at 100% after getting shot. I'm not a heartless monster, you know."
"You're expecting him to get all his work done, and I've noticed you've been giving him more work lately. Are you trying to get him to stop seeing me?"
"So what if I am?" he challenged, arching his eyebrows a little bit.
"Then you're trying to do so behind my back, and at his expense. And I'm not exactly just fine with that."
"It's not anything more than he's used to dealing with at home. It's not like he's being overworked."
