"If you use crutches." Ellis replied, looking down at him with raised eyebrows.
"If you use crutches." Ellis replied, looking down at him with raised eyebrows.
Lloyd sighed and found his crutches. "Fiiiine…" He hesitated before hoisting himself up on them. They seemed to be set for someone slightly taller than him and he was clearly very unsteady.
Ellis sighed softly. "You do know how to use them, right?"
"Uh… no, not really." Lloyd tried to moved forward, but ended up just falling onto the ground with a stifled yelp.
Ellis darted forward to help him, gently lifting him back onto his feet. "Okay. So you use the crutches instead of your injured leg, and you have to move them at the same time, otherwise you fall."
Lloyd nodded a bit, clearly rather ruffled. He tentatively grabbed onto the crutches again and tried to pull himself up. "I… I think these are too tall for me…" He said quietly.
Ellis nodded. "Sit down, I can adjust them." He pushed Lloyd gently onto the bed, and then got to work adjusting the crutches.
"Alright…" Lloyd sat quietly on the bed while he waited for Ellis to finish adjusting his crutches.
Ellis adjusted them, and held them out. "Here, try them now." He said with a quick smile.
Lloyd nodded and carefully hoisted himself up again. "I think it's a little better… I'm still not sure how I feel about them, though…"
Ellis nodded. "Try and get used to them, and if they're still too long, tell me and I'll fix them."
"Alright… how did you say I use these, again?" Lloyd asked, staying still for now so he wouldn't fall again.
"You use them in place of your injured leg. Keep the injured leg off the ground, and swing the crutches forward at the time you would usually use that foot." He replied.
Lloyd nodded and lifted up his injured leg a bit before he attempted to use the crutches. He managed to go forward without falling, but he still seemed quite nervous.
Ellis stayed near Lloyd, ready to support him if necessary.
"Am… am I doing it right, Ellis?" Lloyd asked, still focusing hard on not falling over.
Ellis nodded. "Yeah, you're doing great." He reasurred. Part of him thought that, well…this was Anton's job. Anton should be the one helping Lloyd like this.
Lloyd extended his wings out to help himself keep his balance as he slowly made his way around on the crutches. "I think I'm getting the hang of it."
Ellis nodded a little bit. "Yeah, you're doing great." He replied with a nod.
A couple times Lloyd wobbled dangerously, but he'd always flutter his wings until he was steadu again. It always got his heart racing, though. "The stairs are going to be a nightmare… I might just fly down them. The stairwell is big enough, anyway."
Ellis stuck near Lloyd, and helped to support him every time he started to fall.
After several minutes of this, Lloyd seemed to have gotten the hang of the crutches and was getting around more easily. "Okay… I think we can probably head out now."
Ellis nodded, and opened the door, but remained close in case Lloyd needed him.
Lloyd headed out the door carefully, watching every step he took to make sure he wouldn't fall. When he reached the stairwell, he gathered his crutches in one arm and took off so he wouldn't have to try and walk down them.
Ellis kept walking, glancing up when Lloyd flew down the stairs.
