Dominic picked up the feather and peered down at it through tear filled eyes, "I-I. . ." He started to say, but his voice choked as he started to sob a little bit, I think I might, no, it's too soon. . . He thought to himself, as he curled up on the bed provided for him, clucthing the feather to his chest. N-no, it isn't, I think I love this man. No matter how crazy it might sound.
The next day couldn't come soon enough. Dominic was brought out of his room soon enough in the morning, escorted to the counsel room. Matthew was there, anxious looking. He relaxed when he saw Dominic. The counsel was sat around the room, relaxing.
Dominic stared down at his feet as he heard the avians- who were the council- speaking in hushed tones. Then, he felt his cheeks turn red when he heard the other avians there whisper about his lack of wings and anything. Oh gods, get me out of here. He thought as he messed with the edge of the tunic he had been given to wear. Then, the council members peered down at him, their eyes sharp as though they were studying every part of him. I waannnnaa good Homme. He thought as he felt more and more uncomfortable, Please let this end soon.
Finally, the whispers of the counsel died down.
"So, Matthew," one of them started. "You find yourself another stray. We've heard about everything going on, and we've come to a decision." Matthew bit his lip slightly, nodding. What were they going to do with Dominic.
"The… Man, can stay. But you're going to be responsible for everything he does. If he acts up, you're there one taking the fall." Matthew nodded, biting his head slightly.
"Thank you," he said in gentle tones. He straightened, barely keeping himself from running as he made his way over to Dominic, wrapping his arms around the man.
Dominic looked up at them, not sure if he could actually believe what he was hearing, I. . .I. . .I can't believe it, they're letting me stay!!!! He thought as he could barely keep a serious face, then he sort of realized something, Wait, does this mean, than under their standards, I belong to Matthew? But that thought didn't last long when he felt Matthew hug him tightly, "I don't have to stay in that room anymore?" He said his question sort of directed towards everyone. His cheeks turned a shade of pink as he heard a few of the council members laugh, I guess not.
Matthew chuckled slightly, keeping himself from crying in relief.
"No, you don't have to stay in that room any more. We can go back home now." He picked Dominic up again, wings going around them a bit. "I told you everything was going to be okay," Matthew said softly, already carrying Dominic away.
Dominic smiled a little bit, resting his head against Matthew's chest, "Does this mean that you have to supervise me at all times though? As though I belong to you or something?" He said, now looking up at the man, "I mean, if that's what it takes, but I uhm, I'm just a bit confused." He looked down as they continued to ascend towards Matthew's home,"I missed this too, I like flying, I need to make my own wings." He said with a smile, "You know what, I;m gonna make my own wings!"
"I will, mostly when you're out in public," Matthew admitted. "It's… Like that, but not really? It's complicated." Matthew smiled as they flew, holding Dominic close to himself.
"Okay then! I'll help, if that's okay." Matthew landed carefully in his home, closing the door behind them. Matthew sat down with Dominic in his lap, wings around them both.
"I'm glad you're okay," Matthew said softly.
Dominic sighed, "So, uhm I guess I'll have to figure it ou then?" He said with a sad huff, "I mean, it's worth it. It's not like I'll be able to go out often to begin with, so it'll be nice having you around, and I mean, I'm glad you found me, and not that grumpy old guard who took me to the council and stuff, he was a grumpy pants. He said with a light chuckle, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, "Me too, I'm glad I'm here again, and with you."
"Is better than nothing," Matthew agreed. "But still, is it so wrong of me to say I'll enjoy spending time with you?" Matthew blushed gently. He hugged Dominic, smiling softly with a faint blush.
"And yes, the other guardsmen can be a bit… Overbearing, but they mean well."
Dominic shook his head, "No, not at all, in fact, I think I like hearing you tell me that." He said with a playful smile, "But no, really, he was a major grumpypants. Eat this, wear that, blah blah blah, and he never smiled, once at all. I don't he liked me." He said with a shrug, "Not that I can't say the same."
Matthew have a rueful chuckle.
"Yes, he can get like that, especially around people he doesn't know. Still, he's a nice man." He smiled slightly. "He's there one who got me in to see you, after all." He smiled sweetly at Dominic, holding him close still. Honestly, he had hated how torn up Dominic has been the past three days without him. He wasn't going to let that happen again.
Dominic looked up at Matthew in confusion, "He let you in? You're-you're kidding." He said increduosly, shaking his head in disbelief, but he knew that Matthew was telling the truth, "I can't believe it. . ." He said still confused, "I could of sworn that that guy hated me." He said mumbling his words, "My God. . ." He looked down at his hands, now slightly embarrassed "So now I have to apologize for the stuff I said about him. Good grief."
Matthew lightly set his hands on Dominic's.
"It's okay," he said gently. "He's not nice to many people. We're just close friends. He might not like you much, but I can assure you he didn't hate you." Matthew reached up to lightly rub Dominic's cheek.
Dominic sighed, "Oh, okay then. . ." He said sheepishly, his cheeks turning red with embarrassment, "I mean, wow, I guess I was just being moody though, hating everyone while I was there, so it wasn;t really his fault." He said with a shrug, "But, uhm, yeah." he mumbled, his cheeks turning a darker shade of red.
Matthew reached up with his second hand, holding Dominic's head in both now.
"No one would blame you," he said gently. "You were under a lot of stress, and you were in a pretty scary situation without anyone there for you." Matthew ran his thumb lightly over Dominic's cheek.
Dominic mumbled a thank you or something along the lines of that under his breath, "M-Matthew, I have a question." He had been meaning to ask him this for a while, "H-how. ..no, uhm w-why did you decide to take me in? I mean, I think you care about my well being, but was that it?" He said softly, not wanting to hurt Matthew's feelings.
"Well," Matthew said softly. He knew he had to be careful with his wording. "When I realized you weren't from this world, I knew you'd need help. I… Please don't take this the wrong way, truly, but… I got really concerned about whether or not you'd end up getting yourself hurt, and I figured the best way to help would be to take you home with me."
Dominic looked up at him in confusion, "You aren't wrong, I mean, I definitely wouldn't have survived here, but uhm, what about that thing the guy was saying about cuteness, you took me in because you thought I was cute?" He said with a little frown, as if he disapproved of that.
Matthew blushed.
"I wouldn't say cute," he mumbled a bit. "Just… Good looking. But that wasn't the major factor!" Okay, so maybe Matthew thought Dominic was cute. Whether it was like a pet cute or being interested in Dominic was yet to be determined. Perhaps it was even both.
Dominic rolled his eyes at the statement, "Hhmph, that sounds like a good enough reason to me though." He said trying to wriggle out of Matthew's arms, "Well, I mean, if I'm good looking to you, I'll take that too." He said with a smirk.
Matthew blushed a bit. He let go of Dominic, his wings going from around them.
"Okay, maybe it was, and maybe it's a bit of both, but I'm not saying anything else!" He blushed a bit more, looking away a moment.
Dominic grumbled a little bit, giving Matthew the stink eye playfully, "You're crazy Matthew, but, I tolerate you." He said, trying to hide his mischievous smile, "But, I must admit, it is quite difficult to do so." He said standing up and looking around, "Now, where is Sir Fluff? I missed him when I was. . .where was I? I wanted to call it a prison, but I was told it wasn't one, just a holding room of something of that nature, but that term sound weird to me." He shrugged a little bit, "I mean, I guess, I had way too much free time on my hands last week, but, thankfully they gave me some paper so I could write out plans for the wings that I could possibly create during my stay in this realm."
(( Would it be alright if I dropped this rp? One of my good friends who've I've roleplayed with before for a while brought it to my attention that my quality or writing has changed from what it used to be, and uhm, I'm dropping some of my rp's to help me bring up my writing again. This is nothing against you, I just need to work on my writing. I would love to roleplay with you in the future though, once I get myself in check once more. I really did enjoy roleplaying with you again, you're a very creative person, but again, I need to work on my writing.))
(Oh, okay then, I understand! I'll be available whenever you're ready to do another roleplay!)
