No one bothered Nix for some time, or even seemed to be awake. He was alone. Eventually, after some time there was some from the house. Someone was up, then. The door slowly opened, but after a moment it closed again with no one coming out.
One of Nix's ears turned back towards the door when it opened, but he kept his eyes closed. As soon as the door shut again and he didn't hear any footsteps approaching, he turned his ears forward again. He was still sitting silently outside when Cas awoke an hour later.
It wouldn't be surprising he had awaken, seeing as Serna was being very loud as she tore through her laboratory.
"I'm going to treat him limb from limb!!" She seethed.
"Miss Serna? What's wrong?" Cas called out. He glanced back at Zachary before slipping out of bed and wandering around to find Serna. Not being able to see anyone else in the house made him nervous, but at least he could hear Serna.
Serna came back into the house, absolutely furious.
"I- one of the other gods thought it would be a good idea to mess with my equipment. Again." She growled a bit, shaking her head.
"Oh… do you know which one?" Cas asked shyly, wrapping his arms around himself and shivering a bit. It felt cold to him outside of the warm bed. "And… where's Nix?"
"I do, unfortunately. He loves screwing around with everyone." Serna took a few deep breaths, calming down before continuing.
"I believe he's outside," she finally said. She looked over, noticing the shivering. "Do you need as coat?"
Cas nodded a bit, rubbing his arms to keep himself warmer. "How are you gonna get the god back? And is Nix okay? What is he doing outside?"
"I'm probably not," Serna admitted. "If I do, I'll just refuse him my services. And Nix is probably just getting some alone time." She seemed to have calmed down considerably. She stepped away, grabbing a coat for Cas and handing it to him.
Cas nodded and wrapped himself up in the coat. "Makes sense… um… at least Zachary and I are doing really well." He looked away, blushing and smiling shyly.
Serna smiled a bit, chuckling softly.
"I'm glad to hear that, at least. And perhaps some day soon we'll find someone for Nix to be like that with. Until then." She sat down on a chair, watching Cas a moment.
"I'm glad you've find someone too. Everyone deserves someone, after all."
Cas nodded and nibbled on one of his knuckles nervously. "We made out…" He whispered shyly, flushing a bit more and keeping his smile up. "I really hope we can find somebody for Nix. I want him to be happy too."
Serna gave a gentle laugh.
"I see, I see," she said gently. "That's what you were doing last night." She chuckled faintly again.
"Yes, I do too. He deserves to be, especially after what happened."
Cas blushed harder and hid his red face in his hands. "Y-You couldn't hear us, could you?" He asked nervously. "I didn't think we were very loud… we tried our best to keep quiet so we wouldn't bother anybody."
"There's not much that can be hidden for a goddess in her own house," Serna said. Still, she winked. "That is, until it's time to turn a blind eye." She chucked, lightly patting Cas's back.
Cas whined softly and peered up at her through his fingers. "I'm sorry anyway, miss… I assure you, we probably won't go further than that for a very long time. I'm still nowhere near comfortable with it."
"I understand," Serna said in reply. "And there's no need to apologise, sweetie! You're enjoying time with your lover, simple as that, in the way you're comfortable with."
Cas nodded shyly, still seeming a bit nervous. "I-I just wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable or anything… or Nix. I'm worried about him. I've been where he's at."
"Don't worry, sweetie. It wouldn't at all for me, and… With Nix, I'll make sure he won't hear a thing. I know how much it would affect him." She'd seen to many people go through it, too many times.
Cas nodded again and hesitated before lowering his hands a bit, although he still kept them drawn up. "I don't wanna upset him… should we go check on him?"
"I think that would be a good idea." Serna stood, offering one hand to Cas. It was just them awake right now, after all.
Cas accepted Serna's hand and held tightly to her, humming softly to himself.
Nix noticed a light in the distance and squinted a bit to try and figure out what it was. After a few seconds, his eyes widened. That's Halm… He got to his feet and slowly retreated, going around the side of the house. He wasn't sure whether Halm had seen him or not.
Serna led Cas outside, eyes narrowing a bit when she didn't see Nix.
"He was right here…" She looked around.
"Nix?" she called out gently. Halm looked up when he heard calling, paling a bit. He retreated. When had he gotten so close?
Nix kept himself hidden, peering around the corner to make sure Halm was going away. He whimpered quietly and retreated a bit more. "I think I heard him…" Cas headed over to where he'd heard the soft whine.
Serna looked around as well, spotting the hidden cat.
"Nix?" she asked gently. She started towards him, keeping her voice gentle and step light.
