Gem stumbled slightly as the apartment came into focus around her. It wasn't the largest of places, but it was well loved and decorated in a way that would comfort the loneliest of souls. They had appeared in the living room in front of a very soft comfortable looking, dark green couch which Gem promptly collapsed on to, probably dragging Wander with her though not intentionally. She closed her eye's and rested her head against the back for a moment, "Sorry it's a bit messy I wasn't expecting company."
The tile floor was covered with a soft woven rug, a brown chair was situated next to the couch, different patterned pillows were on both the couch and the chair, a light gray blanket was draped against the back of the couch. A coffee table was in front of them, on it was a collection of candles, a small TV was mounted on the wall the shelf beneath it filled with nick knacks and movies. Behind the couch the room was empty save a few shelves and a round wooden table with three chairs, there was an over handing counter with bar stools pushed under it. the kitchen was open to the rest of the room small but functional, a hall way lead off to two different doors that were currently shut.
The walls were covered with pictures and art work, by the looks of it a small child's art work, framed and proudly displayed on the wall. there were pictures of her family, pictures of a Forrest and a small farm house nestled between tree's. If one looked around there seemed to be a lot of candles hidden on shelves and counters, along with other small decorative items and plants.
Gem opened her eye's and looked over at Wander, "Welcome home."
Blink followed after Karat, refusing to look at the man again. Really, they could already see it. Their brashness and assholery had caused another user to dislike them, and there was nothing they could do about it now. The spell shoved their hands into their pockets, arms held close to themselves. They just… they were tired of this, tired of being tied to a human in order to have a life, or the scraps of one that their user tossed to them.
When Karat was ordering the drink and the cone, Blink looked around, taking the world in. Really, there was so much new that had come to it after Blink had been sealed away again, and they hated how much they'd missed. They looked down at the food pushed into their hands, blinking some.
"Okay, then…" It wasn't like Blink had a choice anymore, with what Karat said. So, the spell carefully licked the dessert, skeptical. Though, they weren't able to hide their surprise and enjoyment for a moment. Quickly clamping down on it, Blink's face returned to the default of angry smirk.
"It's alright." Liar.
Looking at how Blink looked a bit calmer when he was eating the ice cream, Karat sighed softly before offering the spell a smile.
“Come on, I have to show you your new home,” he stated, pacing down the road with a small whistle while making sure that Blink was following him. He had a mission now—at least, a mission he was going to try to do—which was make Blink feel calmer around him and treating him in a way that would change his views on humans in general.
(Hey-o, sorry if replies are spotty to nonexistent this week. I'm going on a trip and I don't think I'll be able to be on as much. But I'll definitely try to get on when/if I can~~)
(Relsey, that sounds awesome! It's honestly so cool to me that you guys like making things with these babies)
(And Gem will be in for a ride when she does lol)
(And Fuyu, that's okay! Have fun on your trip~!)
Wander let out a soft sound when Gem brought him down to the couch with her, resting with is chest to her back and being too tired to bother getting up.
"It's alright," the spell said quietly, smiling some. He'd caught a glimpse of the apartment before all he was looking at was the back of Gem's head and the couch. It looked… well, it looked comfy. Someplace he really wouldn't mind staying at for a long time- something he rarely felt at all.
"I think it looks wonderful…" Wander rested his head on Gem's shoulder, words muffled some by her shirt. He smiled, blushing some when his user welcomed him home.
"Mm…"
Blink followed after Karat silently, their attention seeming to be focused on the ice cream in their hand. In reality, they were taking in the world around them, trying to see just everything that had changed while they were away. They kept an eye on Karat too, not trusting him much at all. The ice cream had helped, but not much. At least the user couldn't try to use him to get to the home, not enough time had passed.
(Also, I did a summary of my story for these guys in another forum, check it out <3)
(Magic orbs in a shrine, but those orbs are spells that turn into people- the hurt child, the native man, the rat bastard, the Mom, the Cinnamon Roll, and the Dad. Humans show up and tear the family apart and everyone is fighting now and oh god what just happened to Orange and Purple–)
Gem giggled a bit, "You are so easy to fluster and I'm not even trying." She gently ruffled Wanders hair, that teleport had taken more out of her than she had originally counted on. She walked everywhere, there wasn't much point in driving when parking spots were so hard to come by, so she hadn't expected the teleport to be so draining.
"I know I have work to do but I don't wanna move," She said curling up on the couch, "I love going to work but today was a little extra exhausting." She looked over at Wander resting on her shoulder. She couldn't help but wonder about this individual, he seemed so trusting, back in the cafe he seemed so ready to put himself in front of Gem, preparing to be hurt even. Was that the nature of the Spells? Were they all so determined to keep the users safe? Her face scrunched up and she shook her head slightly. Even just thinking the word 'User' made her uncomfortable. She didn't want to just 'Use' Wander, human or not it wasn't right. Every time she gave him a choice he looked so shocked.
"Do you want to do anything Wander? Go anywhere, try anything? Sorry I guess that's a bit of a loaded question."
Soon enough, Karat would have taken Blink to his house. He opened the door and sighed softly, stepping inside and looking at the mess in his place. “Right… excuse the mess,” he said, turning on the lights and looking around before taking off his shoes by the door. “Feel free to do whatever here,”
Wander chuckled softly, leaning into Gem’s hand when she ruffled his hair. It had been a while since being with a brand new user with no prior spell work, so it would take some time for them to be more accustomed to each other and lessen the after affects.
“Mm, I can understand why.” He didn’t like this Carden man, and whatever he did to Gem to make her so scared of him. Wander… well, he’d never been a fighter, but he knew he wanted to keep Gem safe. He closed his eyes, holding back a yawn. He looked peaceful, at least, even if his thoughts weren’t.
“I… well, there’s a lot I want to see. And… well, I’ve never actually thought about what I’d want to do. Really, I…” Wander’s eyes opened some, a sad look there. “I’ve never really thought in terms of myself before…”
Blink grunted some when Karat spoke of the mess. They took their own shoes off, finishing off the last of his ice cream. They look around once, sitting down with legs crossed once he found a place to. They didn’t say a word, looking at Karat a moment.
“Thanks,” they said, then looked away again. They planned on doing as little interaction with Karat as they could manage.
Gem was already quite emotionally attached to this individual herself, his final words were like prying little knives cutting down to well hidden memories, She thought for a moment before getting up quickly, "I've got an idea, I'll be right back." She hurried into her room stumbling slightly as she was extremely tired and her feet were not following directions. She opened the door to her room and searched around for a moment before coming back.
"Here, when you think of things you want to do, you can write them down," Gem sat back down and handed a small notebook and pen to wander, "And then we can do them."
Wander shifted around when Gem got up off the couch, sitting up. He moved as if he was going to stand when he saw Gem stumble, but he sunk back down when he realized he was just as tired. He hugged his arms around himself, watching the door his human had disappeared through.
"I…" Wander nodded, staring down at the notebook and pen in his hands. "Okay, then. Thank you." He looked up at Gem, smiling brightly as he slipped the items into his pocket.
Gem was quiet for a moment, than two , then she began to giggle, "Sorry-sorry." She covered her face with her hands, "Oh this is so ridiculous." She couldn't help but laugh at this situation, well it was laugh or cry and at the moment laughing seemed like the better option though the tears were beginning to fall.
"I've known you for what 8 hours and I feel like spilling my life story." she leaned back throwing her arm over her eye's trying to hide the tears, "Ugh, today has been a day." She began to laugh again.
"He called you Brussel Sprout, that was the best he could come up with. Sorry, I know not the best thing to laugh at but, that was so bad. You almost have to laugh." She sighed trying to calm down, she was just so tired, and everything just seemed so funny. She giggled softly, "Brussel Sprout, ugh, So bad."
When Blink was finally sat down, Karat had started working on his crafts again. He had been sewing a dreamcatcher earlier and was determined to finish it. He had sat down not too far away from Blink while he continued to do his craft, not trying to interact annoy Blink too much.
Wander looked up when Gem began to giggle, confused and surprised by it.
"I..?" Wander had no idea what was going on in Gem's mind anymore.
"W-Well, I wouldn't mind at all if you did," the spell said, shifting a bit closer to Gem. "And it has, a lot." He chuckled weakly, his hand going to Gem's.
"And I must admit, the insults weren't very… impressive." He wasn't sure how to react to Gem's actions, doing his best not to push her from laughing to the crying he saw coming. He hugged Gem lightly, holding back a sigh.
Blink glanced over when they noticed Karat sit down, doing their very best to act like they weren't interested. They pulled their legs up to his chest, resting their head on their knees. They kind of wanted to know just what Karat was doing, glancing over, but they didn't say anything. They planned on giving Karat the silent treatment until they were able to come up with a way to give scathing words of criticism and hatred around the command to give the human a chance.
Gem was a bit shocked by the hug, but grateful for it, "Thank you," She said softly. She had a tendency to let her mind travel to places it shouldn't. It wasn't uncommon for her to sit in her apartment on this couch for hours, her mind traveling down unsafe paths. But, Wander was here, she wasn't alone, It was grounding for there to be another person, well, sorta person, there.
She visibly relaxed some, then pulled away, "Ok, Panic is gone, I can deal with it later, as for right now," She stood up, "I am starved and require sustenance," She made her way to the kitchen pulling open a cupboard and retrieving a bag of Goldfish crackers. She paused for a moment thinking then looked back at Wander eye's wide, "Wait, If you've been stuck as an orb- Have you ever had Goldfish? Or-Or Oreo's?"
(Wander had no idea what was going on in Gem's mind anymore Even I don't know what goes on In Gem's mind most of the time, and I created her)
(Oh god I feel that so much XD)
(I have a character I've had since I was twelve and she still baffles me at most times)
"You're welcome," Wander said in turn. Really, Gem had been worrying him with the seeming spiral the human had been going down. He was glad to have seemingly stopped it and helped Gem feel better. He didn't feel the push to help Gem like he usually did- this was something he genuinely wanted to do for her. He wanted to protect her, not feeling obligated to. He pulled away when Gem did, still staying close to her.
"If it would help, I would love to help when you are ready to deal with it." The spell offered a sweet, supportive smile, resting his hand on Gem's hand. He chuckled some at the wording, watching Gem get up and watching her go to the kitchen. Eventually, he stood, following after her.
"Um… no, I haven't. What are they?" Wander chuckled some again, looking at the container in Gem's hand. He'd never seen though things before, and they intrigued him.
Gem grinned, tiredness forgotten, "We are breaking into my junk food stash, here you can try some, they're a type of cracker," Gem popped a few of the goldfish in her mouth and set the container on the counter next to Wander, "Feel free to sit, there are stools."
She opened another cupboard, this one higher up, and began pulling all sorts of treats from it and putting them on the counter, Oreo's Cheeto's the normal and flaming hot kind of course, Taki's, Skittles, An impressively large bag of assorted candy bars, Starbursts, Cheez-its Normal and white cheddar, fruit snacks, the whole nine yards and then some. The labels became harder to read as Gem pilled up all sorts of things on the counter and began setting them out.
It was a smorgasbord of the foods kids traded for on the playground, an Impressive buffet of unhealthiness, "Don't tell my mom I have this collection, Sage found out about it and I have to bribe him with kitkats for silence." She finished laying everything out in neat little rows, shut the cupboard and sat in one of the stools.
(The day Gem realized no one was stopping her from buying snacks and candy for her self was a good day)
"Um, alright then!" Wander moved to sit in one of the stools, taking the container in his hands. He took one out, nodding as she explained what the Goldfish were. He popped it in his mouth, chewing. It had a distinct taste to it, but he didn't really know what it was exactly. He continued to put some in his mouth, without even realizing it as he watched Gem get the other food out.
"Woah… that's a lot of food," he said softly. He hadn't been expecting Gem to have so much 'junk' food. Why was it junk? It was food, wasn't it, so it kept people fed. He'd ask Gem later, right now she seemed focused on just getting everything out.
"I- okay then! I'll make sure not to."
Gem smiled, "Thank you, So, this is a lot to tackle in one sitting and we don't want any sugar headaches, we need a game plan." She paused looking at all of the food in front of them, "How about we do, one thing from every genre." She said beginning to pull items from different categories forward. This was a delightful distraction.
"Yeah it's a lot of food, I splurged, I shouldn't have, but I did, Food is pretty available these day's, well, for a price, What was the time period you were last out and about?" She asked before looking up at Wander and smiling, "Oh and what do you think of the Goldfish?"
"Sugar headache? Sounds painful." Wander smiled some anyway, nodding as Gem explained what they would be doing.
"At least the food is available enough for you to have this much. And… I'm not sure what you call it now, but there were a lot of massive factories in America and other places, with too many people trying to get jobs." Wander shrugged a bit. "Lots of political corruption too." The spell looked down at the food in his hands, blushing when he realized he was still eating them.
"W-well, it seems even I didn't realize how good they are!"
Karat felt Blink staring at him but had kept silent. He didn’t want to force the magic into doing anything he wasn’t interested in. However, as he continued sewing his dreamcatcher, he sighed and looked up at Blink. “If you wanted to see, you could just say so,” he said with a small smile, patting the seat beside him.
(Sorry I thought I already responded give me a bit and I'll have a reply up)
Gem giggled a bit, "Yeah, I end up mindless;y eating them a lot, before I know it the nag is gone." She thought for a moment as she compiled the treats to be sampled. Factorizes all over could be any time in the first industrial revolution, to many people trying to get jobs sounded like any time post industrial revolution, it was his last comment about political corruption that gave her more hints but well, there was always corruption.
"So, From what you're saying, it makes me think of mid to late 1800's Monopolies were at their highest point with lots of puppet Presidents so the political corruption checks out. Lots of people looking for jobs checks out there was a surge in immigration to America around the time, and there were factories all over, rather unsanitary disgusting ones but they were all over. After we're done tasting these I'll pull out a few of my Fashion history books and we'll see which era of clothes you recognize." Gem was quite interested in knowing what era Wander had last scene, she would know how much he had to learn, the things he would have missed out on.
She unwrapped a snickers bar and handed it to Wander, "This is almost my favorite chocolate bar, almost."
(I'm alive, aliiiiiive!! God I hate irl life right now aha)
Blink looked at the spot Karat had patted like it carried the plague, but it was only a moment before they moved over some.
"What is it?" They asked, careful to keep their tone sharpened almost to the point of sarcasm. They didn't want to admit they were curious in something a human was doing, after all.
Wander chucked in turn, making the concious decision to set the cracker container down.
"I wonder why it's like that…" He said quietly, mostly to himself. He looked up to watch Gem sort the snacks, still amazed by how much food there was.
"And that does sound like an accurate description of what I saw, especially in the factories. Dangerous, too, people always getting replaced after accidents that take an arm or leg. Too many dead…" Wander shook his head, sighing as he banished the memories.
"And that would be fun! A very efficient way to tell a time period." The spell looked at the candy offered to him, reaching over to take it.
"Almost?"
