Chiara found the apartment without much difficulty, all the information had been on the file she'd been sent.
She needed to kill Cole. Needed the money. There was a very special friend in jail that needed bailing, and the generous sum that would come from this job would help her do just that.
Quiet as a mouse, she tried the doorknob. Unlocked. She slipped in, her feet barely making a single sound.
He held a freshly sharpened knife and sat at a table not too far from the door. he wasn't looking at the door at the time. He got up from his chair and sat down on the couch putting the knife on the table next to him. "Hey, baby. i see you are awake." he said quietly to his kitten who was sitting right next to him freshly awake.
Chiara furrowed her brow when she heard Cole speak, pulling out her gun. Was there another person in the room? His girlfriend, maybe? She stayed as quiet as possible, creeping towards the couch.
Cole picked up the kitten and stood up and started walking to the kitchen when he saw her. "What the hell are you doing here?!?!" he yelled at her both surprised that she was here and startled that she actually was here.
Chiara didn’t bother replying, only raised her gun and pulled the trigger.
Cole was alert and quickly dodged. "Excuse me! you don't just enter someone's home to kill them, you could have killed Acoust." he yelled at her quite annoyed. then he walked calmly into the kitchen and set the kitten on the counter to eat his cat food. then opened the fridge. "Would you like anything too eat, i have some pie." he said calmly.
Chiara gritted her teeth. This man was beyond frustrating. Knowing that she was almost out of ammo, she instead opted to slide a knife out of her bag and approach him with it. "I want you dead."
"Yeah, so do i. I guess…. but i am hungry." he said to her a bit annoyed. then he pulled out a pie from the fridge then grabbed a plate. He noticed his cat walking over to the pie then set Acoust on the floor and put pie on the plate. "Would you like pie too?" he asked her.
Chiara didn't know why she hesitated to stab him right there and then, but for some reason….. she let out an exasperated sigh and nodded. "Fine. What kind of pie?"
"I believe it is apple pie." he replied to her.
Chiara sighed slowly. "Yes please, then. Remind me why you're not shooting me on sight?"
He grabbed another plate and put some pie on it then handed it to her. "Maybe because I am currently unarmed." he replied then picked up his own plate of pie and started eating it.
Chiara took a tentative bite of her pie. It was surprisingly good.
"You don't seem to be concerned at all by the fact that I'm here."
"Oh, i am. but i am just not showing it." Cole replied then sat on the counter and ate his pie.
Chiara refrained from rolling her eyes.
She finished off her pie, glancing back at him.
He put his own plate in the sink. "You could put your plate in the sink." he said then walked to the table and sat back down sharpening his knives.
Chiara did so and followed him, grappling with her indecision to kill him. “I thought you said you were unarmed?”
"I was, but i am currently sharpening my knives. They are dull." he sighed and continued sharpening a knife, when he finished he slid it on his finger by accidently cutting it.
Chiara leaned against the edge of the table. “Right, I’m just gonna…” she pulled out her gun again and pressed it against the back of his head.
He sighed. "Your just gonna…. kill me." he said to her
Chiara shrugged. “I’ve been offered money. I need said money. You’re the only way to get it.” She was choosing her friend over a stranger, she told herself. “My client is getting impatient.”
"I understand." He sighed. "You know I was sent to kill you also. By some rich family… The Rotomas I believe." He said and didn't move. He could stab her but he chose not to. "Could you take My cat after you are done?" He asked
Chiara arched an eyebrow. "You're going to let me kill you? That's a first." She pressed the gun harder against the side of his head, steeling herself. She didn't know where are this reluctance was coming from, she'd killed people before… but she'd never actually talked to them. Or eaten pie with them.
"are you going to do it." He asked impatiently. Still holding the knife and looking across the room.
You weakling. You absolute coward. Chiara gritted her teeth, willing herself to just shoot.
Finally, she pulled the trigger
There was an empty clicking sound. She was out of ammo.
Chiara growled in frustration and flung the gun across the room.
