@MarDeColores this is not it kids
"Really?" Oci frowned at Marco. "How?" He slowly started making his way towards the tower, still a little tired from the whole saving-Marco's-life thing.
"Really?" Oci frowned at Marco. "How?" He slowly started making his way towards the tower, still a little tired from the whole saving-Marco's-life thing.
"Well, I could shift into a gorilla and carry you.." he said softly, "Or possibly a wyvern."
"Oh, I see. Just make sure you'll still have enough energy to fight whatever's up there." Oci waved at the tower with the hand not holding the knife. "And, you know, don't make your injury worse."
Marco rolled his eyes, "I've got the second one handled." he said softly, summoning an indigo aura, using it to bind his arm. "And the first one goes for you too."
"What, I'm not the one who can feel the weird aura that's supposedly around here." Oci scoffed, waving his hand dismissively in Marco's direction. "I'm not tired. I'll be fine."
Marco hummed, "Yeah right, you nearly passed out using your powers to save my life… the aura around here is just messing up my judgment a little." he sighed, before focusing and shifting into a large gorilla. "Now, shall we go or not?"
"I did not nearly pass out." Oci said, searching his knife. "Just needed to sit down for a bit to regain some strength. And now I'm fine." He jumped slightly when Marco shifted, looking at him in amusement. "Yeah. Let's go kill some mythical monster and not die."
Marco nodded, before moving and scooping Oci up, placing the other on his shoulders before moving towards the chain he'd gotten zapped investigating. He moved awkwardly, mostly cause've the physique he was using, but it's be goodfor climbing.
Oci focused on staying in Marco's shoulders as he moved towards the chain. He'd never done this either, and was finding the whole experience rather hilarious.
Marco reached the chain moments later, letting out a huff when he did. Looking up it he huffed again, before grabbing on and starting to climb, making sure he always had three limbs secure to the chain whenever he moved, tending to favour his injured arm as much as possible.
As they climbed, Oci started wondering what they would face in that tower. What would it look like inside? Where would the staff be? Would the staff even be there? And, at the very back of his mind: What would he do with himself after they killed the king?
Marco was thinking the same thing, or he would've been it her weren't focused on climbing. Unfortunately he didn't know the ansers to any of those questions, except the last one. The last one… well… after he made the king pay, and his family was safe, he would be looking for his lder siblings, who had been sent away before his parents were taken.
The last question kept circling in his mind, getting bigger and bigger until that was all he could think about. What would he do if he came out of this alive? Go back to the gang, to Karia and James and Rhea, and just keep doing what he's been doing before? Perhaps. Maybe after this little break, everything would get better.
Well, as Oci was lost in his thoughts, Marco had been climbing the chain, and was now about halfway up. His arms and legs were sore, and hurt every time he moved. But he knew he couldn't stop; otherwise he could do anything.
Oci snapped to reality to see that they were about halfway up the chain. He glanced at the ground below, then up at the tower. Hopefully, the tales of a monster guarding the staff were just stories, and it would be as empty as the ruins had been. "How's it going?" He asked Marco, forgetting for a second that Marco couldn't answer him.
Marco gave him a grunt, before moving his arm up and grabbing the next link in the chain, continuing to climb.
"Okay, then. I'm just going to take that for a 'good'." Oci nodded and closed his eyes briefly, waiting for them to reach the tower. He was getting nervous, that was for sure.
It was more of an, I hurt all over and deserve a thank you, kinda grunt, but hey. That worked too.
As they neared the tower, Oci pulled his knife out and held it at the ready. Marco probably wouldn't be battle-ready the moment they got up there, and Oci wanted to be ready if something attacked them right out of the gates.
Marco eventually reached the top, flopping on the edge of the ledge, panting, exhausted as he shifted back. "You're… You're carrying me back to town…." he said softly.
"I suppose that's a fair trade," Oci said, stepping away lightly from Marco. They were standing– or lying down, in Marco's case– in a room with a staircase leading up to the next level of the tower. There wasn't anything hostile in that room just yet. Well, if there was, Oci sure couldn't see it. "What do you think? Up those stairs?"
Marco wasn't looking, still exhausted, "Sure, maybe…." he said, "Lemme catch my breath will ya?"
"Yeah, fine. How's the aura thing, anyway?" Oci asked, looking down at Marco. "Is it faded a little, or stronger? I would think–" He goes silent, listening hard. "Did you hear something? I thought I heard something, like a rock being kicked. Did you do that?" Oci whispered, crouching down next to Marco.
Marco took a moment, before sitting up, "The aura thing is better actually." He said, like we passed a barrier or something." he hummed, "And no, I didn't make that sound."
"Great." Oci sprung to his feet, knife at the ready. "Well, there's definitely something here with us. Are you good now? It would probably be best if we don't sit here for much longer. I can carry you if you need a little extra time to recover, also."
