Davin watched him for a moment, finishing up the pastry and sighing faintly.
Davin watched him for a moment, finishing up the pastry and sighing faintly.
"I know you're probably sick of hearing this, but are you okay?" Tohru asked, "There's been a lot that's happened over the last few days, and I mean… even if you were fine before, there's always the possibility not everything set in yet."
"I'm fine, Tohru. Really." he replied, looking over at the other and offering up a quick smile. "Please believe me."
Ughhhh I'm probably just being a pain, as usual.
Tohru hid those thoughts behind a smile and a nod in return.
"Okay, okay. I believe you."
"Alright." he smiled again, stretching, tail doing a strange, arc-like movement as he did. "So. What do we want to do today?"
"Not sure, they want me to go ahead and start training at six tonight. So we have some time, but I do have to leave again later," Tohru replied.
He nodded a little bit, looking around the apartment. "We could go find some more furniture or something. One thing I've learned is that just beccause you aren't staying long doesn't mean you shouldn't furnish your home."
"That's true. And I have a ship, so if we get a heads-up before we have to leave, we can always take it to wherever we go," Tohru agreed, "That stuff makes it feel more like home."
He smiled, and nodded a little. "Yeah, of course. And I've got the money to buy at least half-way decent furniture, so…" he shrugged slightly.
"I have some too. You made the down payment, so…"
Tohru shrugged a bit.
"I'll at least chip in."
"Alright." he replied. "Shall we go do that, then?" he glanced to the door, then over at Tohru.
"Yeah, I'm ready when you are," Tohru said.
He nodded, grabbing his cloak and wrapping it around his shoulders, tugging the hood over his head.
Tohru made sure he had his things before leading the way out.
He smiled back at Davin before opening the door.
Davin slipped his shoes on and followed Tohru.
"Was there a particular store you wanted to look at?" Tohru asked, "And what kind of furniture were you thinking? I mean, we have most of the basics."
He shrugged faintly, looking around. "I don't really know, actually."
"I saw a few on the way home," Tohru said, "It you want to explore over that way."
He smiled. "Sure, lead the way." he replied, looking over at Tohru.
Tohru nodded in agreement.
As they walked, Tohru looked over to Davin.
"I was just curious- you don't have to answer if I'm prying, but have you ever bothered to form relationships in your travels? Like romantic relationships, good friends? Basically more than acquaintances?" he asked, "I guess I wondered, because… well… it must be hard to open up when, well… you know."
"I…" He trailed off, eyes flickering. "I used to. It…didn't end well, with one guy." He rubbed his arm for a moment, mouth tightening slightly.
"I'm sorry," Tohru whispered, "Like I said, if it makes you uncomfortable…"
He flashed Davin a genuine sympathetic glance.
"But on the other, hand, if you want to get it off your chest, I'm here too."
He took a deep breath. "It's fine. I just…I don't know." He said slowly.
"Did he like… out you or something? Or was it just a bad heartbreak?" Tohru questioned.
"He…at first he was fine with… you know. My… differences, but…I told him I wanted to leave, and…" He swallowed, fidgeting with the hem of his cloak. "He… threatened to turn me in if I tried to leave. It got… abusive. I couldn't leave, and…" He closed his eyes for a moment.
