"Sounds good," Tohru replied, leaning in a little closer and placing a hand over Davin's knee.
He had his other hand over Davin's, where it rested on his hip. Suddenly, Tohru wasn't feeling so great. Maybe it was the loud music, the commotion, the overwhelming smell of alcohol, all the bodies around him. Or maybe he was freaking out over the mission. If he failed, he wasn't exactly going to get this chance again, and they'd likely have to send in someone else in his place.
Tohru swallowed, his mouth and throat feeling dry. His heart felt like it was in his throat.
Davin gave Tohru a faint, flirtatious smile. "Alright. Let me know when you wanna go." he took a sip of his drink, careful not to let his hood fall off. To be honest, he was a little bit worried about the fact that this man had felt his horns, but then again…depending on what they did later, the other would see a hell of a lot more than just his horns.
"If you're ready to go now…" Tohru suggested, "I'm feeling a little crowdsick, to be honest."
He gazed over with his deep brown eyes, brushing his hand distractedly up and down the other's leg.
Let's just get out of here and do this before I fuck up.
He nodded, and drained the rest of his drink. "Alright. Let's go, ke'rou." He said with a smile, standing and pulling Tohru with him. He headed to the door, swinging his hips a little bit as he walked, each movement full of the natural grace of the Kaythani.
Tohru half-stumbled after. He was suddenly nervous.
“Where we going?” he asked, clasping his hand a little harder around the other’s.
His palms were beginning to sweat a bit.
"My apartment." he replied. "Unless you got somewhere else you'd rather go?" he arched an eyebrow at Torhu, smiling a little bit and squeezing Tohru's hand reassuringly.
“Oh, yes. That’s fine,” Tohru replied, “I was hoping for somewhere more… private.”
He continued to keep up with Davin, up until he was walking by his side, holding his hand.
Davin nodded, swinging his hips a little as they walked. "Mm. Alright." he replied with a little smile. "Ke'rou." the same word from earlier. It was a Kaythani word, and…well, the language had never been very widespread, which meant that Davin was one of perhaps five people galaxy wide who spoke it.
“That word, what does it mean?” Tohru asked, slightly enamored by how it rolled off the tongue.
“Ke’rou?” he repeated.
He was still following Davin. He hoped he wouldn’t be endangering himself by doing this.
He blinked. "Oh. It's, uhm." he hesitated for a moment. "Just a nickname. Similar to darling or whatever." he replied, a little embarrassed.
“I think it’s cute,” Tohru murmured, swinging his hand and arm a bit along with Davin’s.
“Calling me pet names already? I don’t even know your real name, love.”
"That's exactly why I'm using it." He replied with an easy smile. "And my name is Davin. Yours?" he arched a dark eyebrow, smiling lightly as his gaze swept over Tohru's body, before returning to the other male's face.
"Yama," Tohru replied softly.
It wasn't his real name- just a nickname- but he figured giving away his real name could be a little risky. Tohru broke his gaze away as he saw Davin look at his body. He found himself blushing a bit, despite the whole situation. Why did he have to be so easily flustered?
Davin nodded a little. "Ah. That's a good one." he said with a light smile. He knew that divulging his own name was a bit dangerous, but…he figured he may as well be honest while he could be. Because someday, someone would catch him or report him, and he would spend the rest of his life locked away, simply for the sin of being a Kaythani.
"Are we… almost there?" Tohru asked, licking his lips nervously.
He smiled slightly, squeezing Davin's hand again. He seemed nervous, and it was becoming blatantly obvious.
"Yeah." he replied with a shrug. "And, uhm…if you're nervous, y'know we don't have to do anything you don't want to." his voice carried the traces of an accent; musical and light and foreign, not the type of accent heard very often anymore. It was a Kaythani accent, and it was beautiful and rare.
"It's fine," Tohru replied, "I just don't get around much, you know?"
He exhaled softly.
"It always feels like a big deal to be with anyone, an I don't want to mess it up."
Davin nodded a little. "Yeah, I get that." he replied. His eyes turned a little sad for a moment as he remembered things, then he blinked and it was gone.
Tohru blinked a little bit, focusing on Davin's face.
"You look lovely tonight," he cooed, "I can't wait… I'm feeling all jittery."
He blinked at the rather sudden change, letting a smile twitch up one side of his mouth. Is this what I've become? Someone who sleeps with just about anyone while dreaming of a mate that I can never have? He swallowed, pushing his thoughts away before they could be swallowed by gold. "Yeah."
"Is something the matter?" Tohru asked, afraid his facade was falling away.
Was he catching on? He hoped they would get there soon. As soon as they were alone, there wouldn't be anything Davin could do to resist capture. Hopefully.
He shook his head, putting on a quick smile. "No, no. Sorry. I get weird after alcohol, sometimes." a lie, but that was better than saying that his mind was haunted by gold and the laughter of his friends the day his world was ended. He dug a key from his pocket, unlocking an apartment and leading Tohru inside.
"Mm, as one does," Tohru sighed, "Same to you about the whole… if you don't want to do anything, just say."
He followed cautiously behind Davin. It was still dark inside, as no lights were on yet, but from what Tohru could tell, the place was pretty… cozy. That was the word- cozy.
Davin flicked on a light. It was indeed cozy, but somehow also…bare. There were few personal touches, no pictures of family or friends. This was because Davin only stayed in one place for maybe a few months before moving to a different planet.
"Nice place you have. Did you move in recently? Seems pretty minimalist still," Tohru commented.
He stopped to scan the room a bit more.
