"Alright, that's fine." Eiji smiled softly and he and Aiki got to their feet. "Let's get going, then. We don't want to be late."
"Alright, that's fine." Eiji smiled softly and he and Aiki got to their feet. "Let's get going, then. We don't want to be late."
Farah nodded and followed Eiji's lead. She nudged Aiki gently and smiled at him.
Aiki offered a weak smile and kept close to Farah as they walked. He couldn't get his thoughts out of his mind, and they seemed a bit uneasy.
Farah didn't want to have to read Aiki's thoughts, but she decided if they didn't talk soon, she would. "What's going on?" she asked quietly.
Aiki shook their head a bit and kept walking, avoiding eye contact with Farah. Eiji, at the front of the group, didn't seem to notice the interaction.
Farah frowned. "You can talk to me," she murmured.
Aiki's gaze flicked between Eiji and Farah as they tried to silently convey that they didn't want to talk with him there.
Farah was confused at first, but she got the hint and nodded. "Alright. But you'd better tell me later. I'm worried about you," she whispered.
Aiki sighed softly and nodded reluctantly, continuing forward behind his brother. They soon arrived at the school and went their separate ways.
Farah waved to Eiji as he left and motioned for Aiki to lead the way to his class. Before she said anything to probe, she wanted to give them a chance to explain.
Aiki still chose not to explain anything. They didn't especially want to spill out all of their negative emotions in the middle of school, after all. His classmates might ask some unpleasant questions.
Farah inhaled slowly. Glancing around, she noticed an empty hallway and guided Aiki down it. Once it was just to two of them, she took his shoulders gently and whispered, "Talk to me."
Aiki seemed very uneasy and reluctant to speak. They typically tried to repress any memories like this so it didn't affect him, so being pushed to talk about it was pretty uncomfortable. "It's nothing…" He whispered weakly, avoiding Farah's eyes.
"No, it's not. Something is going on. We both know it's true," Farah insisted. "Please. I want to help you."
"I don't think there's any way to help… I-I should be over it by now. It happened years ago, I… this is stupid." Aiki insisted, growing visibly stressed. They definitely wanted to leave and not think about this anymore.
Farah frowned. "This is about last night, isn't it? The city is where you…" She closed her eyes and dropped her chin to her chest. "Aiki, I'm so sorry."
Aiki's ears started to twitch and their tail puffed up, and he seemed very anxious and fidgety. Their breathing quickened, and their hands were shaking. "I c-can't… I don't… d-don't want… s… s-sorry…" He stammered, taking a couple steps backward to try and escape the situation.
Farah quickly backed up as well and hit her head against the wall behind her – hard. "Ah," she hissed in pain.
Aiki's eyes stung with tears and they cowered against the wall, his knees growing weak. They turned their ears back and looked up at Farah meekly, his gaze shifting in and out of focus.
She winced as she touched the back of her head, pressing gently against the now-tender spot. "Ouch," she groaned. "That'll do it."
Aiki slid down the wall and tugged at his collar weakly, their breathing shallow and shaky. He closed his eyes and shook his head a bit. "No, no, no… no…" They whispered. "C-Can't do this right now… I'm g… I'm gonna b-be late for class…"
Farah knelt in front of Aiki. "It's okay. I'm here. Just a touch." She extended her hand slowly.
Aiki flinched when Farah touched him and curled up a bit where they were sitting on the ground, pale and anxious. "D-Don't want… to think about… about it…"
Farah took a breath, and her eyes began to glow as she created a pain bond.
Aiki relaxed somewhat at the magic, but his emotions and memories for the moment were shared with Farah. In their mind, they were trapped. He was sitting on the floor of a dog crate with his hands and feet bound and a muzzle on their face. In the memory, they were crying, staring up at tall, strange looking men holding various instruments, medical or otherwise.
