Tolly fumbled a bit, obviously not used to being hugged, but eventually settled into Lucien's arms. "Yeah! Cas was nice enough to feed me a few and give me a handful for the walk back."
Tolly fumbled a bit, obviously not used to being hugged, but eventually settled into Lucien's arms. "Yeah! Cas was nice enough to feed me a few and give me a handful for the walk back."
Cas chuckled at the interaction. Lucien let him go and raised an eyebrow in question "is that so?" He laughed softly as he saw his son blush "ah I see, Farra berries are better when shared with someone else. Speaking of someone else I think we should help your mother set up Cas." He winked at Tolly and walked to the kitchen where Lia was setting up a roast with herbs and lemon
Tolly smiled and followed them into the kitchen. Everyone here seemed really nice and the last thing he wanted to do was repay that with laziness. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Lia glanced up and nodded "there's some roasted corn and some drinks in the fridge. Mind getting those?" She asked, bringing over the roast while cas and Lucien brought over the silverware and other foods
"Of course, Mrs. Lia." Tolly shot her a grateful smile and did as she had asked, helping Lucius with the silverware when everything else was on the table.
She smiled "thank you," she placed the roast in the center and sat down next to her husbandn
"No problem." Tolly sat beside Cas, posture straight and smile polite.
"dear relax, you don't have to be all formal around us." Lia reasurred, taking some corn and a slice of the roast "dig in!"
Tolly smiled sheepishly and grabbed a few slices of roast. "Sorry. I was raised pretty strict, it takes a while to shake off all the formalities."
Cas gave him a reassuring smile before starting to eat.
Don't apologies, it's great that your so polite. But it's not necessary here." Lucien winked and began to eat
Tolly shrugged, starting to dig into the food as well. "That's really nice of you to say, Sir. I'm just not familiar with you yet. Once I get to know you a little better, it'll start to fade."
Lucien nodded and smiled "hopefully we'll get that oprtunity." They all are in content silence, enjoying the food
Tolly smiled back at him, digging into the food without much restraint. "This roast is delicious Mrs. Lia! Would you mind giving me the recipe?"
"Finally someone who appreciates my cooking! And of course I'll give you the recipe." She gave a pointed look to her husband and son who looked back in shock "my flower we love your cooking, don't we cas?" Cas nodded ethusiastically
Tolly laughed. "Well I don't know about your husband- sorry Mr. Lucien- but Cas was pretty fast to sing your praises when he invited me over."
Lia laughed softly "were you now?" She smiled lovingly at her son and husband.
"Always mom," cas reasurred.
Lucien squeezed his wife's hand and offered the same smile as she
Tolly didn't want to intrude on the familial affection, so he ducked his head and served himself a few more slices of roast. It was strange to see a family so happy in each others company.
"So I heard you two found Farra berries today, which means Cali root can't be far from growing as well. Did you too go deep into the forest?" Lia asked
"Hmm?" Tolly perked up slightly, offering Lia a sheepish smile. "Sorry, but I'm not really sure, Mrs. Lia. It didn't feel like too far of a walk, but I think Cas probably knows better than I do."
He smiled at tolly and shook his head, turning back to his mom "nope only went to the sherellia sap tree line. One was ready to be collected. The others should be ready next week or so."
Tolly smiled back at Cas happily, clearly more comfortable talking to him. "Oh yeah! How much deeper are we gonna go tomorrow? Cus I kinda want to transform and explore the forest but I don't wanna take too much time away from what you need to do to restock and stuff."
Cas nodded "we should be able to go around the whole property if we wake up a bit early tomorrow." He said, finishing up his plate and putting it in the sink
Tolly grinned and followed Cas to the sink, setting down his own dishes. "I'm looking forward to it! What's it like deeper in the forest? Will we see any animals?"
He nodded again "definitely, mostly dear and some lone wolves but they mostly come out at night. I'd be careful around them. They don't like strangers."
"I'll be careful, babe. I know how to deal with other wolves." He pecked Cas on the cheek, walking back into the dining room. "Besides, I'll be sticking close to you the whole time, we'll probably be fine."
