(Awe okay! Goodnight!)
He runs his fingers through his hair.
"Okay okay, you got me. I was joking."
He says with a sigh, then looking at the lake, then quickly back at her wide eyed.
"Wait! youre a part of the royal family??!!!!"
Iris raised an eyebrow. "You have no idea how the system works, do you?"
"No……"
He says looking away embarrassed, then looking back at her.
"Sorry, I don't really know anything."
"Well, like I said. The King has no family. When this happens, he tests a group of 25 people and chooses one out of those 25 to be the next ruler." She paused for effect, and waiting to see if he'd catch on.
"Woah! What!? Did you get chosen? How are you a part of it?"
He says stepping forward, his blue and green eyes lighting up. His left eye seemed as if it had a light emerald stone inside of it with the light constantly shining into it. His right eye simply the sky of a calmer blue with clouds floating in them which beaned at her with interest as she talked.
She nodded, feeling proud. "I was chosen, yes. I'm set to be Queen in about 4 weeks."
It was the first person she'd told out of the palace, and it felt great.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!"
He says immediately steering his eyes away from her. He was told that a man should never look a royal female in the eye. Or at her at all.
(I am so sorry! School has started up again so my timing might get weird)
Iris jumped, and gently set a hand on his shoudler. "What for?" she asked in confusion.
(Nah it's fine! I understand!)
"Ah, i- uh….its rude to look the Queen in the eyes. That's what I was taught growing up. Again, I apologize greatly"
He says though a violent chill going down his spine as she touched him. This was the queen! He shouldn't even be near her. Let along talking to her!!!
Iris let her gaze linger on the man for a moment, before she straightened and shook her head, dark red hair falling out of its loose bun. “No need for that. You’ve still got four weeks and, either way, I need to earn the respect of the people and not gain it through petty rules.”
"Okay….."
He says hesitantly as he looked at her, studying her features. Admiring her beauty that he didn't pay attention to before.
"Well…..what're you doing all the way out here?"
She caught the man's stare, and held it without any hostile feeling. "I'm exploring. And, I haven't gotten time to myself in about half a year. I needed this," she said with a shrug. Suddenly, her eyes lit up with an idea.
He tapped his lip a few times trying to comprehend everything that had just happened, playing with his lip ring slightly.
"I guess that makes sens- what's with the face?"
Perceptive, then. "I've got an idea. Since I've entered your area," she started, gesturing gracefully to the peaceful lake beside them, "you should get to enter mine."
"W-wait……really!?"
His eyes light up and he steps closer, not able to control his excitement.
"Are you sure? I mean i dont want to be a burden….."
"I'm the one who offered," she protested, eagerly taking his hand and leading him into the treeline. It was exciting, seeing her palace as something new.
"Oh….okay!'
He says with a little smile, letting her lead him to her palace. He felt actually quite special somehow! The fact that a mere peasant. A rodent. A feind…..would get invited into the very palace its self? And by the queen nonetheless!!!!!
She nodded, smile giving way to a sober, serious expression. "Very well. Follow me now." She turned and walked into the trees, not bothering to check if her companion was following her.
"Oh, Uhm….okay"
He says pressing his wings fully to his back with a little smile as he followed her. Every now and then glancing up to the palace. He could just fly up there. But she didn't have wings so he guessed he would just walk with her.
She stopped walking a couple minutes in. “Wait. You can fly, right?”
Stopping, a smile appearing on his face as he spreads his wings and putting his hands on his hips.
"sure can!"
In the blink of an eye, she'd disappeared in a flash of dark smoke.
"Wait….what?!"
He turns around looking for her, or where she might have gone. Then piecing the puzzles together, he shoots up into the air, looking over at the palace.
"Maybe she went over there"
(Heads up, I'm going to be gone up until Sunday!! I have to go on a school trip, but I'll see you in a week <3)
Iris appeared sat down on the top step, staring out into the forest. She smiled triumphantly, though hoping he'd find his way over.
(Oh okay! Have fun! <3)
He hesitantly, yet quickly made his way to the Palace Steps, greeting her with a gush of wind and a cute smile.
