She sensed someone, perched there among the trees, but decided to stay put. She lifted her hand in a wave, though, an eddie of darkness rippling off of her hand and forward into the park.
Looking up at a slight movement, he squinted and stood up, almost losing his balance, but managing a wholehearted wave with a big smile. He assumed they were waving towards him, but if they weren't….. that would be a little embarrassing.
Biting his silver lip ring slightly when he was finsihed with his kind of silly wave. He had hoped whoever that was had noticed.
Satisfied with the wave she received back, Iris turned heel and walked into the castle, shouldering off her shawl and wrapping it around her hand before weaving it between her fingers and so on. It was the only thing that betrayed the nerves coursing through her.
His smile disappearing as they walked away, he sat back down on the branch with a sigh, only to jump off, plummeting to the ground down the tree as his hair falls out of his face, his smile appearing once again. The rush was amazing, the adrenaline was exhilarating. And just as he was about to slam against the ground, there was an incredibly strong gush of wind, and unfolding black feathered wings with only the tips faded into an angel white, about four times the size of his arm span, he glided against the ground until he had reached a lake, gliding over it as well as his hands skimmed over the water.
A particularly strong gust of wind shut the Palace doors with a shaking sound, but Iris didn't even flinch— she could recognise any type of magic from a mile away.
She sent her own jet of black smoke over her shoulder, making it curl around the handles and yank the gates back open, shooting into the sky and dissipating afterwards.
Looking upwards only to see a thing of black smoke dissipating in the air. He wanted to just go and fly up to the castle and live there forever. But he knew he wouldn't be able to ever even go up there. He wasn't as high as them. He didn't even come close.
Iris wandered the palace before realising everyone was elsewhere, including her King. With a sigh she returned to the forest, running out into the greenery, hoping the presence she'd felt earlier was still around.
Reaching the end of the lake, he skidding across the sand and rocks, then coming to an abrupt halt. He turned around to the lake once more as he looked at it with a sigh. With his huge wings still stretched, he stepped towards the lake, he could see the perfect reflection of the mountains and the trees. It was truly beautiful.
She ran around, paying no heed to where she was going, simply following wherever her feet were taking her.
There was a nice and small wooden dock which he sat on, letting his bare feet dip in the cold, though crystal clear water. Fall was just around the corner, which was close to winter. And winter was most definitely his favorite time of the year.
She ended up on the lake shore, facing out towards the expanse of mountains and valleys ahead. It was a beautiful sight, one she rarely got to see.
Looking up away from his reflection in the water as his grey hair fell in his eyes, raking his hand through it but freezing when he spotted a girl on the other side. He stood up to wave, but immediately he fell into the water. His huge wings making an even bigger splash when he fell. He had forgotten how clumsy he was.
Iris stumbled in surprise at the loud splash, looking up in time to see the tips of a pair of wings disappear into the water. She grinned, waiting for the person to resurface.
Gasping for air as he slashes back up to the dock, pilling himself up as water dripped over to wood. Standing up straight now, though not facing the lake, he spread out his unnecessarily large wings, flapping them strongly and shaking his head trying to dry off his wings and his hair. He couldn't really do much about the clothes.
Iris watched the impressive spectacle, keeping a straight face. "Hey there," she said at normal volume, amplifying the sound with a flick of her wrist for the man to hear her.
Turning around and almost tripping again, he noticed the girl, running his fingers through his silvery hair as it looked white as it reflected off of the bright sun.
"why hello! And who might you be?"
He says with a smirk, leaning on the side of the wooden railing of the dock, his wings starting to fold, pressing against his wet back.
"You'd rather not know," she grinned mischievously. She really had missed socializing during her tests. "And you? Why are you hanging out so close to the palace?"
"Oh? That big thing!? I live there don't ya know!"
He says putting his hands on his hips as his lips gained a mischevious smile, his chin raised high.
It was a random girl, so why not trick her. He felt like having fun with someone for once.
He never actually got to do that much.
Iris narrowed her eyes, slightly puzzled. " You… do? What's your title?"
"The prince of course! Who else!"
He says spreading his wings, jumping up in the air and unitentionally blowing a gush of air throuout the area, making a huge wave head towards her, but calming down once it reached her.
Landing beside her with a smile still, if it werent for his clothes, which was a black button up shirt, one sleeve rolled up to his elbow and the other all the way down to his wrist and a pair of jeans, but by the looks of his face, he probably could have fooled anyone that he was a prince.
Iris's face broke into an amused smirk. "That'd be believable, except that there is no prince. The King is not married and has no heirs."
"Oh, I'm…..adopted! I'm a secret so shhh"
He says with a wink, putting his finger to his lips as he shushed her.
Iris cringed and stepped back. "I can prove you wrong," she said after a loaded pause.
"Wait what?"
He says stepping back from her, extremely confused. Did she see through his lie? Most likely.
"I am a part of the royal family. In a way. But I have access to the King, and his records, and I can prove you wrong." She crossed her arms, looking smug.
(I've gotta go now, goodnight!)
