Ilya came back down with the spell book in hand and a few glass jars of herbs levitating behind them. He set everything down with a loud 'thunk', turning to see if it had disturbed Nathaniel.
Ilya came back down with the spell book in hand and a few glass jars of herbs levitating behind them. He set everything down with a loud 'thunk', turning to see if it had disturbed Nathaniel.
Luckily, Nathaniel still seemed to be sleeping, though he stirred a bit. He eventually settled back down, though.
Ilya froze, only starting to move when Nathaniel settled. He flipped open the spellbook and turned to the sleeping potion page. Most of the ingredients had been in the attic, all he needed now were mermaid hair and angel tears. And luckily for him, he had an angel dozing off on the couch. "Nathaniel, I need you for a second!"
"Mmm…" Nathaniel shifted about for a moment before pushing himself up into a sitting position, yawning. "What do you need?"
"Can you cry on command?" Ilya dogeared the page in the potion book and shut it. "Or can I make you cry? The potion needs angel tears."
"Er… interesting request. I'm not sure I can cry on command, but, uh… I guess you're welcome to try…?" Nathaniel woke himself up fully, staying seated for now.
Ilya nodded, grabbing a cup from the kitchen and handing it over to Nathaniel. "Cry into that, I guess. Um… what normally makes you cry? Because I could try putting pressure on your ribs but I don't want to have to hurt you."
"Honestly, I'd prefer that to… well, I was crying about Lloyd earlier, but I really don't need another episode like that…" Nathaniel fidgeted with the cup.
"Definitely not! I'm not going to put you through that again today. Um… come here, okay?" Ilya patted his lap, encouraging Nathaniel to sit. "I'm going to squish your ribs, smack my arm if you want me to stop."
"Alright…" Nathaniel hesitantly moved over to Ilya and prepared himself, feeling pretty nervous.
Ilya wrapped his arms around Nataniel's waist, not hurting him yet. "I'm really sorry about this," He murmured before squeezing Nathaniel tightly.
"Ah!" Nathaniel started shaking, tears coming to his eyes immediately. He sort of forgot about the cup for the time being. His ribs screamed at him to stop, to let them be. The sharp, near unbearable pain traveled through his entire body.
Ilya let go of him immediately, starting to take some of the pain before he remembered what they were doing. "Shit!" He grabbed the cup, gently pressing it into Nathaniel's hands. "Nataniel, you need to cry into the cup, okay? And then I'll take away the pain as much as I can."
Nathaniel held the cup with shaking hands and managed to cry into it, getting dizzy from the pain. He honestly thought he might pass out.
"Fuck! Nathaniel, honey, I need you to stay with me, okay?" Ilya set the cup down on the table and took Nathaniel's hands, starting to take on some of the pain. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you this bad! I forgot how fragile angels are, are you okay?"
Nathaniel nodded, shaking violently. He seemed to be breathing heavily and was trying his best to stay conscious, despite the stars in his vision.
Ilya winced, gently holding him steady as he shook. He rubbed Nathaniel's back and tried to calm him down. "It's okay, you'll be okay. Just hold on for a couple more minutes." He took about a fourth of the pain before he realized he couldn't take on any more. "This is as much as I can help, I'm sorry."
"K… K-Kinda…" He said quietly, closing his eyes. His grip on Ilya was slowly weakening as his consciousness started fading.
"Oh, fuck, okay! Just let go, Honey. I'll wake you up later with some pain meds." Ilya gingerly laid Nathaniel down on the couch, brushing the hair out of his face. "I'm so sorry."
"Mmm…" Nathaniel let the black in his vision take over as he lost consciousness, laying limp on the couch.
Ilya hovered over Nathaniel for a few minutes, checking his pulse and making sure he was still breathing, before he grabbed the first aid kit. He splinted Nataiels ribs, redressed his wounds, and then, unsure of what else to do, he plopped down on the ground by the couch and waited for Nathaniel to wake up.
Nathaniel was unconscious for about five to ten minutes after Ilya had splinted him, eventually opening his eyes. He whimpered quietly, curling in on himself a bit.
Ilya reached out to lay a hand on his shoulder but stopped himself. He was the reason this had happened, Nathaniel probably hated him by now. Instead he summoned the painkillers and a glass of water. "Welcome back, Honey. Do you want some painkillers?"
Nathaniel nodded and took the pills. "Th-Thanks…" He said quietly, deciding to keep laying down for now; at least until the pain meds started taking effect.
Ilya smiled weakly at him, setting the water to the side when Nathaniel was finished. "It's no problem. I… um… I splinted your ribs properly, so it might be kind of hard to move around. It should help them heal faster, though. Um… do you need anything?"
