Let's think about what genres would make a good mash.
Fairy tale x crime
fairy tale x horror
Adventure x horror
drama x fantasy
fable x cyberpunk
scifi x thriller
horror x humor
mystery x historical fiction
Mythology x scifi
legend x crime
anthology x horror
I would kill a man to get a cyberpunk fable.
I think a fantasy murder mystery would great.
Oof I have an old WIP that's sort of fantasy murder mystery. It's medieval, and there was an attempted murder (he almost died, but not quite, and he didn't see who did it, nor did anyone else), and that's one of the important plot things. I'm not so sure I'll continue it though. I kind of lost my writing voice on that one for some reason.
Ooh. Writers block (etc.) sucks so much.
Yeah. So does writer's apathy (what I call it when I just can't get into a story/care about it)
Good love. Lot's of love. Nonromantic love. No more Instalove™.
Main characters that are not the Chosen One, instead are the sassy best friend or whatnot.
That would be cool! Sun Wukong kind of counts.
Exactly!
Or we can go the other direction and have more side characters that are actually the Heroes.
Samwise Gamgee
I did that with Althalos l. I had a Prophecy Child™ but it was actually his twin sister. (They were mislead by the term man.)
Sam is the best! His temptation in Mordor though!
It's the best way to add intrigue and an interesting way to explore character development.
No one is perfect. Not even Samwise the Brave
Yesyesyes.
What about Faramir? Hmm?
OH NO. You shall NOT use my love Faramir against me!! He is perfect despite his crippling daddy issues and inferiority complex to his brother.
But he never let either influence his character. And only once did it cloud his judgement. And that was when he decided to obey an order.
If he acted on it, it still counts as a character flaw. One that he overcomes with grace and dignity and general badassery
And that flaw makes him even more perfect because one, he is not perfect from the start. And two, every day he must conquer what he feels in order to be a great person/leader. Which he does with supreme excellency.
I agreeeeeee. His flaws are good flaws. You will never ever hear me say that Faramir is not perfect in all ways.
Are you guys starting a debate over whether or not Faramir is perfect
Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Faramir!
It's not a debate if we both agree. We do this all the time. LOL
It's true. We even have had to get back on track on our thread made for debating because it evolved to friendly chatter.
