More of a question than an addition, but how would you all feel about more older characters who are LGBTQ+?
Like I have a 40 year old and a 35 year old les couple in one of my stories.
Yes!

More non-humanoid aliens!!
Humanoid aliens can be neat, and I admit I’m guilty of making a lot of them, but let’s be honest: life out there will probably look a lot different from us. It may not stand on two legs, it may not have two arms; hell it may not have any arms at all. It’ll have different features that seem ‘alien’ (hence, aliens, though arguably to them we’re probably more alien.)
But non-humanoid aliens can be interesting to do! There’s a bit of worldbuilding that goes into that, like how their society operates, their technology and how they do it (but I’ve seen some really good non-humanoid races on reddit where you can tell the writer put a lot of thought into it.)
I’m more of a sci-fi writer myself, and I have a lot of aliens.
I have a fungus alien race and they can be humanoid, but overall they’re generally humanoid. I also have my jellyfish race, which while they do sometimes use mechs, sometimes humanoid, this is generally to make interaction with land walking/air breathing races easier. Aside from that, both of those two races are mostly non-humanoid! Another prime example is my Eldritch, which only take on a humanoid form if they absolutely must. Otherwise, they have varied looks, generally constantly changing ones since they’re pretty chaotic.
But I guess something (and not just in books) I’d like to see more of is just..different types of aliens. Different cultures, different histories, different interactions with others species, different looks..etc. Not everything needs to be filled out, just basically..I’d like to see more non-humanoids. Less copies of humans, unless there is a good reason for it.
I want more POV's of what happens in the other characters heads, like In Harry potter what else really goes on in the other Hogwarts house's other than Griffendor.

Is a Slytherpuff because I would be a cold manipulative sociopath bastard except I love people too much.
Wassup.
is just cold and manipulative and a smirky lil snake
Well Hello
Greetings salutes But you are also very loyal with more than one soft spot.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK. I SO AM NOT

Mwah hah hah I'm a Slytherclaw
I am also a slytherpuff, but unlike Dom, it's not because I love humans too much. I just flip back and forth
Mwah hah hah I'm a Slytherclaw

I'd like more retellings of things that usually don't get retold.
I agree.
Actual good writing AND a creative and interesting plot so I want to reread it and I don't barf when I notice the writing? Because it seems like everything either has fabulous writing or a good story and not both of them and I'm tired of it
Just finished Sadie yesterday, and I want more books told in different styles? Whether it's dual timelines or podcast/prose formula, I want MORE!
(Bump)
White American/Ethnic kids casually placed in any genre. Just a personal preference I guess. I would love to see the low-key thing of Where do I really belong?
It’s probably already been said, but casual LGBTQA+ rep. It’s not a big reveal. They just are.
I think Lavinia from Trials of Apollo is a really good example of that
