Speaking of describing what the character is wearing in full detail… anyone else just sick of that thing that happens at the beginning of lots of YA novels and self-insert fanfic where the main character either describes their appearance in full detail for no reason or is looking in a mirror and taking in every one of their features? Kind of drives me nuts because it's just not… realistic I guess, to look at yourself in such great detail.
yoona does notice nice outfits + makeup first thing, but it's not described in huge detail and it's because she's really into fashion
That is a very legitimate reason.
does she critique them, because i'd love to hear a first person pov destroying a person with fashion sense like neil josten's
Holy crap that should totally happen.
her inner monologue says a lot of stuff like "wow, that skirt's really… colorful" or "not what i would have chosen, but it's all right, i guess" because she's too nice to brutally roast people
Books with forced banter.
Good battle banter is great though. Helms Deep.
When there's a rivalry between two characters but you never see it for the sake of romance.
When 2 characters suddenly put aside all rivalry to suddenly become best buds. And whenever a big group of protagonists is presented as this '#SquadGoals' thing even when certain characters barely ever interact
I totally agree, especially when their rivalry was great character development for both.
Yeha!
I hate it when it is hard to follow the dialogue in books. Like, in Lord of the Flies, the speech is really confusing cause you can never tell you is speaking.
I have this on book called House of Leaves, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to read it. The formatting is really strange and offputting, I’ll see if I can get a photo of some pages up soon.
That… that gives me mass anxiety.
I guess its a style choice?
Well, yeah. It's unique for sure, but it can be pretty confusing.
Theres this one author who deliberately only had dialogue for like two pages and it was really confusing because it was in the middle of a battle and it started off with two characters but a bunch more kept joinging in the conversation. They were talking about Hamlet and stuff. It was weird but amazing. I loved it.
