Lifting his head, he let out a soft sigh. "We should probably get up… we need to figure this all out before tonight."
Lifting his head, he let out a soft sigh. "We should probably get up… we need to figure this all out before tonight."
"Please just let me sleep just for a little while" she said
Nodding softly, Brad continued to get up. "Alright, you stay in bed." He hummed a little, reaching for his phone.
She closed her eyes but immediately visions of her nightmare came back and she whimpered quietly
Brad was holding the phone to his ear, talking in a soft voice to Maggie. "I'm sorry it's so early. If it wasn't for plans I have later, I would have given it some time. And Caroline is sleeping right now. It gives me the chance to actually-" Cutting himself off, he heard Caroline's whimper and turned back to her. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he gently tried to shake her awake. "Well, I was going to say actually talk to you. But it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Can you come over in a little bit?"
She whimpered more clenching her eyes shut
"Hold on, Maggie." Setting his phone aside, he shook her again. "Babe, you need to wake up. Come on. I don't want you scared." He whispered, still gently shaking her. "Caroline, you need to wake up."
She shook her head harshly
"Come on, babe. I need you to wake up." Brad insisted, shaking her a little harder. "Please. You're clearly having a nightmare."
" ow!" She said pushing him away
Brad pulled back, sighing softly. "Sorry… I didn't mean to hurt you." He whispered weakly, folding his arms over his chest. "You alright?"
She pulled down her shirt to reveal a giant bruises on her shoulder
"I- I didn't do that, did I?" Brad asked weakly, feeling sick at the sight. If possible, any and all color would have drained from his face.
She looked at him and whimpered scooting away and looking at the wall
"Caroline- I…" Brad felt tears sting at his eyes, and stood up from the bed. Reaching over, he hung up on Maggie before walking out of the room. It was happening again. He felt like a monster to her. He couldn't bare to look at her if that's what she was thinking. It made him physically sick.
As soon as Brad left she broke down crying, thinking he was leaving her
He came into the living room, and started pacing. His heart was racing once again, with tears starting to run down his face. His life was a mess- he couldn't keep it together right now. He wasn't able to help her, thinking she thought he was something despicable.
Caroline got up and went to the bathroom she looked in the mirror" you can't do anything right you don't deserve him you screw everything up no wonder his father doesn't like you " she said to her reflection a little too loudly before she slammed her fist down on the counter making a bruise and bawled her eyes out
Brad's head was pounding, and his thoughts were so loud, he barely heard her. He should probably go check on her, but he wasn't exactly 'emotionally stable' enough to give support. He wasn't really sure he could take more crying at the moment. His head hurt, and he just wanted to go lie back down. But he couldn't really do that. So sucking up any and all his emotions, he made his way to the bathroom door. Knocking lightly, he felt himself go numb when he spoke. "Caroline?"
She opened the door from her spot on the floor and looked at him her eyes bloodshot her cheeks red and puffy and more tears running down her cheeks
"What's wrong?" He asked softly, his tone sounding rather emotionless. It was that or nothing by this point. He wasn't the best actor in the world, he couldn't keep up the alright act for that long. "Are you upset because of me? Did I make you cry this time?" Tone still bleak, he tried not to show any signs of being tired. He knew they would come off as rude, or hurtful. And of course, she would shut him out or they would have an argument.
She shook her head "J-Just G-Go" she cried starting to shut the door
"But why? What did I do, to make you push me away?" Brad asked softly once more, stopping her from shutting the door. He was tired, but still as stubborn. He wasn't about to drop this. "Why are you afraid of me? Tell me what's going through your head. I don't want to be in the dark again. It's too frustrating."
" I had the nightmare your were beating me and in my dream I had this bruise on my shoulder" she said
He didn't say anything, just stared off for a minute. She really did think he would hurt her. "I- you don't think that was real, do you?" He asked weakly, avoiding eye contact with her. He couldn't listen to her, and look at her at the same time. He wouldn't be able to hold himself together.
