On a semi-related note, I have two story-related questions:

  1. My character amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) has two moms. Would she call them both 'mom', or use 'mum' or 'mother'?
  2. Jackson, another character of mine, is aromantic and pansexual. How do I show that he's interested in sex but not in romance without seeming like he doesn't care about the person he's interested in? This is especially difficult for me as an ace, because I don't feel sexual attraction so I have no idea how to show that.

A lot of times in books, people use two terms for same-sex parents, like Dad and Daddy or something, idk

@RedTheLoveless

Along with pairings such as Dad and Papa, or Mom and Mama. However, I also know some kids with same-sex parents who still call both of their parents the same name of "Mom" or "Dad". This, though, has led to some interesting situations. For example, one kid was calling for one of his moms by using "Mom!", and the wrong mom answered him so he awkwardly had a little mini panic of "No wait not you the other one."

In case you wanted a scene like that, of course. Adds a bit of humor and angst for the reader, though I also understand wanting to use the different variation of names lmao. Up to you.
