@Abriel

I am in love with the asteroid market idea. Aliens being shady little dudes, selling organs and love drugs. What about virtual reality? Is there any trick to know if you're inside? I've seen a lot of books and shows knock somebody out and when they wake up, they're in VR but they don't know it.

@kat_i_am

I'm in love with the asteroid market idea too lol. I have way more worlds and ideas than plots it's a big problem lol. And a ton of the worlds don't even really fit my writing niche oof
I don't know much about VR tbh… I guess you have like… the matrix (which I only saw part of like a year and a half ago) or like… other ppl trying to wake you up but idk

@kat_i_am

WAIT FOR THE ASTEROID BLACK MARKET IMAGINE THAT ONLY A SECTION OF IT IS SHADY AND THERE'S ANOTHER SECTION THAT'S LIKE A SPACE MALL WHERE ALL THE SPACE/ALIEN TEENS HANG OUT (like diagon alley and knockturn alley but not)

@kat_i_am

EXCELLENT SPACE MALLS ARE MY FAVORITE
voltron had a filler ep with a space mall and it was one of the best filler eps to date

@kat_i_am

so… you've heard of black holes… have you heard of white holes? cause they're kinda rad? Instead of sucking in matter and light it's more like… energy and light escape them and they're theoretical but kids this is the new discussion topic let's go

@ThatBackgroundSlytherin

Wow okay that just opened up a world of energy possibilities what if people who lived on planets near them used them for energy with solar panels and crap like that that'd be rad

@kat_i_am

okay but it's nearly impossible to enter their vicinity
I saw it on a show once and remembered it and now I'm researching it
anyone know what an event horizon is? cause I don't

@kat_i_am

okay so more on white holes- as the name suggests they're like the opposite of black holes, no idea how to create them/how they're created, they might be infinitesimally tiny, they have something to do with dark matter, and…
an event horizon is like, the point of no return. For context, when you have space stuff entering the atmosphere of earth, there's a point where they can't escape the earth's gravity and get pulled in. So even though a white hole has an event horizon, nothing can actually touch it/get into the "atmosphere"

@kat_i_am

this chat is honestly my favorite you guys don't know how much I love space like I would go into astrophysics but uhhhhhhhhhh that involves physics and I've a) never taken a physics class and b) I don't really even like math??? I just like space and astronomy and astrophysics and gahh
But like that old universe? that's so cool bc looking up into the "night" sky it would just be glittering white, no darkness, but you know up in space you're in like…. sparkles but they're not right next to you idk it just sounds gorgeous to me

@Lavy-the-Nerdy-Sci-Fi-Birdy

I wonder if our eyes are just not strong enough to fill the gaps? There could be a species that sees it that way. Like, there could be stars on a different light spectrum that fills so mush more of the night sky. (Idk if that's possible but it's just a really cool thought)

@kat_i_am

gasp you're right!!! and maybe it's just so far the light hasn't reached us? and I really like the idea of another light spectrum- like maybe its like…. color x to like… color y, which is right below infrared so it's on our spectrum but we can't see it

@kat_i_am

guys this isn't scifi but last night I was driving through the middle of nowhere and I could see the silvery smear of the milky way and that was really cool?? I've never been somewhere with absolutely zero light pollution before and it was truly magical

@kat_i_am

like there were so many stars???? Honestly all I could think of was that one van gogh quote "I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream"

@kat_i_am

ME TOO HE HAS THE BEST QUOTES AHHH
My favorite is probably "If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now, for wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning"
