Our flute section had shirts that said "Flutles and Company" on them with a picture of noodles on top of a flute. Nobody really understands why though XD but I like the low brass's shirts from your school @CorbinB3 those sound cool :D
Dang, you guys have fancy schools.
Not really. If we want shirts or sweatshirts, we have to fundraise for them…
Yeah, the band/show choir/orchestra have to fundraise for everything. If we want new uniforms, or instruments, or stands (because ours are crappy and need to be replaced, over half of them are either unusable or in really bad condition.) we have to fundraise for them and that takes a long time. Despite what schools say about trying to encourage the arts, we are still struggling because the schools still don't give those programs any money.
When the schools say they encourage the arts, and don't give any money to the programs to grow…
Becomes a dragon and burns down place in rage…
WE NEED THE MONEY MORE THAN THE FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!!
EXACTLY!!!! MY SCHOOL'S FOOTBALL TEAM DOESN'T EVEN WIN ANYTHING!!!! THE ARTS PROGRAMS ARE THE ONLY PARTS OF SCHOOL THAT WIN ANYTHING!!!!
It is sad that the admin refuse to believe that we are better…
Especially when we have so many awards/trophies/ribbons sitting in the basement, collecting dust, because admin would rather display the football team's trophy from 15 years ago because they haven't won anything since.
OOOOFFFFFFFFF….. SO TRUE THOUGH……
For them it is like a holy relic. If their precious football trophy was broken, they would give an arm and a leg to fix it. If a band trophy got broken, they would just laugh, say it was a piece of junk, and that it was trash anyway…
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE!!!!!!!! If one of our trophies broke they'd just look at us and laugh, "So, you've got others. They all look exactly the same." or they'd say, "So, fix it with your own money. We don't have enough money in the budget to pay to fix that thing."
It kills them to acknowledge something the band did, but if the football team loses 50 to 1, we are certainly going to hear that they tried their hardest, and they were valiantly playing a supergood team. (The team would be just average, but to them it would look like they got their stuff together because our team doesn't.)
I also think that it's disrespectful that at football games, when the band performs, people are still yelling and taking loud. I get that it's a football game, and you may not be there to see the band, but we're still part of the school, and we deserve as much respect as any other team.
I agree @CorbinB3 There was this one game we went to where the opposing team's band came to play as well (we only have 1 field in our county and it's at my school so we're normally the home team.) and the announcers were announcing our band director and that we'd be playing the "Star Spangled Banner" for the game. But the other band decided to play a different song at the same time and they didn't stop, despite the fact that we were supposed to playing the national anthem. We had to wait three minutes for them to finish the song and even then, they were shouting and talking during our playing (they had their hand over their heart and hats off and everything but they were shouting the lyrics and stuff and just being really disrespectful in general)
If it was me, I would have went over and shoved a tuba over the band directors head…
I'm a clarinet!! Glad there are other band people on here!
If it was me, I would have went over and shoved a tuba over the band directors head…
XD that would have been funny to watch!
I know. Then there was a potential that he would lose his balance, and i would help him out with that… Off the riser.
I will be back in 2 days bc I am going on a band trip… yay…
Have fun and good luck! (it's a competition right?)
I used to play trombone, but I play the piano now.
@MK
With the national anthem thing, that's not only disrespectful to the band playing, but a lot of people get really upset about being disrespectful during the national anthem.
