‘Everything was falling apart…’ Kai thought to himself as he raced through the darkness. He always knew his brother posed a threat but he never thought…He shook the thought away. For now, he had to focus on getting as far away from the capital as possible. He could hear the beasts howling in the distance, they were catching up to him.
Cassidy grabbed the broom and started sweeping the tavern floor. She sighed as she looked around the empty room, messy and stained. It wasn't even that late, but she had closed the tavern early to stop her harassers. A loud bong rang through the night, cutting across the silence. Cassidy stopped. That was it. The King must've passed away. She leaned against the counter. Like the kingdom needed this right now. An ensuing bloody war was soon to break out, everyone knew that the younger prince intended to overthrow his brother. She just wasn't sure who she would support in the mess. She grabbed a rag and started getting to work. Without realizing it she began to sing as she worked.
He heard the shot ring through the night and faltered for a moment. So Father really was gone now…he forced himself to focus. He had to get somewhere where there was light, that was the only thing that could hold off the beasts. There, it was just a speck but…it was enough. He changed directions, running towards the source.
Cassidy wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. Who would've guessed that dishes could get so heavy? She set down the last of the platters and tankards and eased them into the hot water to soak. Her thoughts turned to the King. The poor man had been ill for so long… it was both a relief and a feeling of sorrow that he had passed. His suffering had ended, but he had been a generous and wise ruler. And now, with all the turmoil that would surely take over, she wished that he was still alive. She grabbed the mop, singing a small song in memory of the king.
He was so close now, maybe 50 yards away from the source of the light, he could see now that it was an inn or tavern of some sort. He heard the growl of one of the beasts way closer than he’d like. He turned, seeing the red eyes pierce the darkness, yeah way too close. It lunged for his leg and he had no choice. He quickly uttered a spell, a bright light igniting in the palm of his hand, keeping the creatures at bay.
Cassidy stopped singing. A bright flash ignited outside. She ducked behind a support beam. She gripped her dagger, hidden at her waist, remembering the men from earlier in the night. She breathed deeply. She could handle herself, but against the three pigs that had been harassing her earlier? She grabbed her broom and hid behind the beam. Maybe if she brained one and stabbed another she could make a break for it….
Suddenly they disappeared o.O))
(I'm still here, just waiting on @max)
(You want to make a post? I'd love to see your characters reaction to all of this while we wait for @max)
((sksksk im dying y'all aint gonna run into rin until you're in like a bigger city so im stalking now
I suppose Dabria should react to the king being dead, like maybe she was over at their castle and heard the bell and so left to look for Kai because she knew he'd run off so she brought a few knights she trusts with her? Idk))
(Sure, whatever you decide. And don't worry, they'll be moving on soon and they'll find Rin)
Great imma do that gimme a sec))
(I'm sorry, I have to get to sleep, I have class in the morning.)
Dabria had been seated on her bed, her eyes focused on the floor and her fingers interlaced. Kai hadn't wanted her near him when the king died. She wasn't stupid, she knew he was running, and had protested, but she gave up in the end. Well, if you refer to giving up as promising to herself to go after him as soon as the telltale bell chimed. So she waited, eyes closed.
Bang.
There it was. Dabria stood up and swiftly grabbed her two swords and sheathed them, pulling on her jacket, and speedwalking to the quarters where the knights slept. Surely a few of them would be up, but that was not what mattered at the moment. Once the twisting hallways of the castle lead her to the room she desired to find, she shoved open the doors, quickly surveying the room and picking and choosing knights to go with her. The wirey one who was cowardly but loyal, the short one who was squeamish but skilled, and the tall one who was mischevious but intimidating. She knew each of the men fairly well, so they seemed like the best candidates. she set back her shoulders and held her head high, ignoring the strange looks some of the knights were giving her, the princess of Hiyaup, who was walking through their chambers. She nudged Carrot up, greeted Fyn, and accidentally spooked Luck before giving all of them the same spiel: The king was dead, Kai had left, Dabria was going after him and needed backup, they were to tell no one where they were going, take weapons and pack clothes for the next few days, then meet the princess in the stables.
She then turned away and started towards the stables, a bag she had already packed waiting for her there.
She's just a concerned friend))
I'm going to bed too. Night.))

He slowly began to back up towards the building, knowing the creatures couldn’t follow him inside. The creatures seemed to know this too and made more desperate attacks. “Stay back!” He yelled at the creatures. The light in his palm was starting to fade.
((Sorry I had to do the sleeps
(Apparently I don't have school today :D)
Fyn grinned, "Finally, I haven't been able to get out of the castle in forever," He looked around and grabbed a small pack, throwing in some clothes and slinging the pack over his shoulder before grabbing both of his swords and nodding to the others, "I'm heading down to the stables right now, unless you want me to wait."
