(I missed a lot so let's just pretend that Eli gave in and fell asleep)
Eli's eyes flickered open, and he found himself leaning against the wall. Oh s**t. I must have nodded off! He prayed that the Ringmaster hadn't noticed as he made his way to the place where he would wait to enter the ring.
Finn kept glancing at the new person. He straightened poppy's hat and got her ready to go into the ring. He went before her but he was distracting himself. He wanted to go talk to the new people but wasn't sure if he was allowed to so he just glanced at Eli to see if he knew what was going on.
Eli noticed the boy looking at him. He leaned in closer, lowering his voice so he couldn't be overheard. "What's happening? Are we performing? I fell asleep and I'm super lost right now."
"I don't know. some lady and a few men came back here. The ringmaster is scared of her," He whispered holding poppy close.
Zoey risked another glance, staying as still as she could.
"Ringmaster? Scared of someone? I'll believe it when I see it." Eli muttered, glancing at the young girl that he had only just noticed. She was too young to be in a place like this.
Zoey gave Eli a brief look, amusement shining in her eyes. She tried to stuff that rebellious part of her down, but it always managed to start to spark up in the most inconvenient times.
"Hey I'm the one with telepathy here," he whispered half joking. He hadn't realized he didnt really know anyone here's real name. "I'm Finn by the way and this is Poppy." Poppy waved a little but she looked down. She didn't like talking to new people.
Eli nodded. "Ah, so you're the one I should watch out for." He didn't want this kid to poke around his thoughts when he wasn't paying attention. "It's nice to meet you two. My name is Elliot, but you can call me Eli. I'm known as Phoenix in the ring."
"Nice to meet you as well," he said not mentioning that he can only read emotions. "in the ring I'm the magician and she's little witch." He smiled softly but it didn't reach his eyes.
"Good to know. I'm fairly new here, so I'm still trying to learn everyone's names." He explained, peeking into the ring. God, I hope I didn't miss my performance cue. The Ringmaster would kill me if that happened. Eli thought nervously.
Stars, there's no one out there. Zoey panicked, looking around. No one had replaced her when she'd left, and she hadn't noticed. she was going to be in so much trouble.
Finn saw Zoey's panic and straightened his hat. "ill be right back," he told Poppy before putting on his fake smile and walking out into the ring. Once he was in the center he took out three balls. he looked like he was going to juggle them but instead, he made them fly around. when they were done flying they landed in the hands of a few little kids who sat in the front row.
Zoey breathed a sigh of relief as soon as Finn had gone out. She slumped back, adrenaline wearing off from her panic.
Finn called for a volunteer. a little boy stepped into the ring. Finn raised him up off the ground. Only a little bit so that it wasn't dangerous. He let him float a little and do a few flips before he slowly lowered him to the ground. He then took off his hat and bowed. He announced Zoey using her stage name and then walked off. it wasn't his best performance but lifting the boy drained him. He had to get backstage before he passed out.
Zoey took a deep breath before scampering back into the ring. She jumped, high enough to grab the hoop and set it spinning with her added weight. She twisted around it, her own natural flexibility combined with hours of training and stretching in her cage.
Tempest grinned. "Well, good. That makes things easier."
Zoey finally dropped from the hoop, spreading her wings and gliding down gently, shooting the audience a last secretive glance before slipping out of the ring. (I'll be gone for a while, have fun!)

Finn sat down trying not to pass out. He had to have at least some energy so he can talk to Poppy while she's in the ring. He glanced up at the lady but still didn't say anything.
"Whoever's next." Zoey said softly, catching her breath behind the curtain. She glanced over at the strangers again, trying to fit the pieces together.
Asher tightened his gas mask while looking directly at Tempest.
“What is it that you want dear madam?”
Zoey looked over, taking a few cautious steps forward. She stayed back in the shadows, waiting for the next act to get it together.
