(I'm ready!)
(I'm free as well!)
The Ringmaster paced back and forth, whip in hand. His mask was firmly on place, and no skin was showing. He glared at the Freak Show lined up in front of him. "Now listen up, you miserable shitholes," he growled. "You will listen to me and do your job, or I will make sure that you will never eat again."
Finn stood up straight in the line with Poppy right next to him. He had his arm ready to push her behind him if anything goes wrong. She was scared he knew she was and he was mad that he couldn't comfort her. 'It's going to be ok' he thought trying to transfer it to her. she didn't respond.
Tempest clutched her brothers' hand. If she let go now, who knew what would happen. They crowded into the tent with everyone else and sat down. She and her brothers all had the classic hoods and sunglasses on. It was bad for anyone to see them for real, especially now, with their mission.
Eli stood at the far left, his arms crossed but his expression blank. It was his way of being pissed without actually showing any anger. He had barely slept the previous night, so he was struggling to keep his eyes open. It was hard to not automatically tune out the Ringmaster and fall asleep against the wall behind him.
Aza stood silently with a dark hood over her face, shadowing her eyes. They sparkled defiantly.
The Ringmaster stopped in front of her. "Petrifica, need I remind you of the Light Room? Or you, Chemist, of the Shocks?"
Aza growled underneath her breath, fed up but not going to fight. "Yes, Master," she said obediently. If you listened, there was an undercurrent of bitterness.
Asher scratched his arm nervously. “No sir, no need to remind me of that…”
The Ringmaster looked at her sharply, silver eyes showing through the mask. They were hard and cold, and filled with hatred and bitterness. "Good." His voice was sharp.
(I’ll be back soon)
Finn continued to stand up straight. He wanted to defy or really do anything. Of course, he couldn't not when it's his sister he would threaten. So instead he stood trying not to draw any attention to himself. Poppy, on the other hand, couldn't do that. She couldn't stand still if her life depended on it and it does. she shifted from foot to foot. She was right next to Aza so when the ringmaster stood in front of the other girl she jumped back.
The Ringmaster turned his eyes to the young girl. He sneered at her. "Little Witch," he said. "You're still here?"
Poppy hid behind her brother. "sorry sir," Finn said not looking the man in the eyes. he wasn't sure what he meant but he didn't dare ask.
The Ringmaster turned away. "Whatever." He grinned. "I think that's our cue."
Asher looked up to the signal. He didn’t want to mess up this time. He looked down to his shirt, but truly he was looking at his chest which was burnt almost to a crisp for what happened last time. He turned to the others. “What was the order of performance again…?” He asked the others nervously.
Tempest gazed down into the ring as the Ringmaster strode out. "Welcome all," he boomed, "to the Shining Stars Circus! Here, you will see miracles you have never seen before, wonders unimaginable!"
Aza shivered and tightened the cloak around herself. I go second to last, she reminded herself.
