“Why are you touching me?” Ash asked, her voice steely. “And what do you mean by characters?”
“Why are you touching me?” Ash asked, her voice steely. “And what do you mean by characters?”
The two soldiers didn't seem to hear her.
"You know, you can be real pig headed sometimes. They're just like us!" The one on Ash's right claimed.
"Oh? Really? Then how do you explain the powers? And what about their connection with their Authors? Hm?"
Ash furrowed her brows. What were they talking about? She squirmed. Whatever it was, it made her uncomfortable. “What the fuck are you guys talking about?” She asked sharply, trying to worm her way out of her bindings.
"Umm…what were you guys talking about?" Kassidy asks quietly, becoming a little nervous.
Luna watches the soldiers before speaking “Five what? And what do you mean highly unusual?”. She is now looking at them with a blank face but eyes showing curiosity.
The soldier on Ash's left tried to say something to the one on the right, but she cut him off.
"It's nothing. Just a theological debate," the one on the right said. The man on her left jerked her.
"That's enough," he said, "unless you want things to get ugly."
"Oh my god, stop it."
The soldiers with Kassidy looked at each other again.
"It's nothing," the one on the right said.
The soldiers with Luna fell silent, then, they spoke in turns.
"Five things like you," The one in the right started.
"We rarely get more than one."
"There is obviously Authors involved in this."
Ash rolled her eyes. “I would be quiet if I knew what the fuck was going on!” She was fuming now.
The soldier on the left nearly hit Ash, but the woman soldier stopped him.
"That's enough!" The male soldier flinched. They put Ash in the vehicle, closing the door behind them.
"Do you really want a reputation like Soldier K?" The woman asked as they sat Ash down.
If she could, Ash would have crossed her arms. As it was, she only glared at them. Where was she? And what was this ‘Author’ person? And why couldn’t she got out of here?
"Yeah because whispering about something so I can't hear it is nothing." Kassidy answers in a sarcastic tone.
The vehicle with Ash in it took off at an alarming rate. The two soldiers had buckled themselves in, but Ash was forced to try to keep herself upright.
"It's called a private conversation. Ever heard of one?" The soldier on the right replied, equally sarcastic.
Grunting as she slammed into the side of the car, Ash stared angrily at a strand of hair that she could do nothing about. It was getting in her face, and she couldn’t blow it away.
"Yes, actually I have because I have them all the time." She answers with a smirk, "At least tell me where we're going."
Saying the second part of her sentence with stress and a look of sadness in her eyes, as she looks to the guard on the right.
The female soldier watched Ash with a concerned look, but the male soldier seemed to be smirking.
"We're going back to the base, where you'll be processed." The soldier smirked at Kassidy.
Ash scowled at the male. “What?” She asked sharply, glaring at him. “What could you possibly find amusing?”
"Processed? Okay." She answers with confusion.
She looks back at her lap and after a while starts humming. Remembering that Andy said she was a great singer. She missed Andy and then her eyes started tearing up. But she closed them and stopped herself from crying. Then went back to humming.
"You. I find you hilarious." The female soldier smacked his arm.
"Yeah!" He said, rubbing his arm.
"Will you stop teasing her?" The female asked.
"That-" he said, gesturing to Ash, "-is an it."
The soldier on the left in Kassidy's vehicle looked at her with concern.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah. It's just…I miss my best friend, Andy. She was always there for me and now…I don't know if I'll ever see her again." She states getting sadder and sadder per word until a tear rolls down her cheek when she finishes her sentence.
The soldier but his hand on Kassidy's knee.
"I'm sure you'll see her again someday."
Soldier K turned away, folding his arms.
"No, I do not know." Soldier S turned to Soldier K.
"And I'm having a much better conversation with it than I could with you."
Syzen smirked.
“So, how long have you two been working here? Or is this just like your first day?”
"Maybe. I hope so." She states says with a sad smile.
Soldier S turned back to Syzen.
"I've been here for nearly a decade." He smirked.
"I've lasted longer than most."
Soldier K didn't respond, and Soldier S sighed.
"He's been here for a couple years," Soldier S said, eliciting a dirty look from Soldier K.
The soldier took his hand off of Kassidy's knee, nodding. The other soldier rolled their eyes.
“Heh, someone really likes his job” Syzen turned to Soldier K “and someone doesn’t really know how to talk do they?”
