"Copy? Interesting…" He said, his eyes narrowing in thought.
"Well, can I just whisper something to you, I can't exactly do that myself.."
"Copy? Interesting…" He said, his eyes narrowing in thought.
"Well, can I just whisper something to you, I can't exactly do that myself.."
”Yeah. Apparently, I can mimic other’s magic if I watch long enough.” Liz told him raising a brow at his request. ”Sure. What is it?” she asked leaning closer to him.
"Oh nothing, just wanted to say that… You… Uh, look.. Ugh, nevermind." He sighed and went and put the book away, laying on the bed in silence and closing his eyes.
Liz blinked and tilted her head curiously as he seemed to struggle with his words. Any other time, she would have made a joke about how she left him speechless or simply say that she knows she looks good… but the mood just wasn't there this time. ”Alright.” she said softly with a nod. ”Would you like me to leave, sir?”
"If you wish Liz, there ain't much company around me aside from you…"
Liz nodded but didn't leave yet. ”I noticed. But I don't have to go if you would prefer some company.” she offered before asking. ”Do you know why you haven't had many visitors?”
"Sure, Yes please," He smiled as he looked at her.
"And… Most of them are fighting, while I'm laying here being a wastrel…" He sighed.
She returned the smile and sat at the foot of his bed before rolling her eyes with a soft chuckle. ”You’re not a wastrel. Once you get the all-clear from… Elder Hewaz, I think, you can get out there and fight with everyone else.” she shrugged, knowing she was in a similar position with her limited control. ”What book were you reading?” she asked hoping to change the topic.
"Nothing… Just something about… Well, it doesn't matter," He turned slightly pink.
"Well, how are you feeling?"
Liz raised a brow and couldn't help the familiar smirk as he blushed. She was now tempted to make a grab for the book to see what it was but held back for the moment. ”I’m fine. Just got a few answers and tips about my magic.” she shrugged before facepalming. ”But I forgot to bring up the artifact we found, again.” she groaned.
"It's fine, you can talk to Blake about it when you get time," He smiled as he cautiously moved the book further away from Liz.
”Yeah. I’ll probably have to.” she nodded, noticing his careful movement. ”And when you're feeling up to it, you should meet Rumplestiltskin.” Liz smiled as she said the name with a laugh.
"Rumplestiltskin? What does Chase have to do with this, Oh wait… Yeah, I feel terrified now." He shivered before chuckling.
"I mean, be nice to your crewmates Lieutenant Elizabeth." He lightly coughed.
Liz continued to chuckle. ”I’m sorry. I just can't get over that code name. He wasn't too bad though. A bit eccentric but what else can you expect?” she smiled. ”Wait, you knew who I was talking about? How?”
"Friend of mine, well kind of… He was again.. A bit too eccentric to be friends… So acquaintance rather.."
“Did you suggest the code name then?” she asked raising a brow with that teasing smirk.
"Course not." He coughed lightly.
”Ok. Just wondering.” she smiled, scooting a little closer to him. ”So any idea what happened to you? Besides losing control of your magic, I mean.” she chuckled again and shook her head. ”I can't believe how easily I’m talking about this.”
"I… I thi- Actually, I don't remember…" He looked away.
"But I al-" The ship shook feverishly, its supports groaning as objects fell down and smashed.
"This is Code Red! I repeat, this is Code Red! The Empire has attacked, Kill those bastards." Blake was heard on the comms as a loud ringing alarm was heard across the ship.
Liz quickly jumped to her feet at the alarm and Captain Blake's voice. It was a little strange to suddenly have an enemy that wasn't the Swarm but from what she heard this ”Empire of Darkness” was not something to take lightly. She turned to James and raised a brow with a slightly darker smirk. ”You coming, Commander? Even if we don't get into the fight, I wanna see what we're up against and what they look like.”
"Sure, it'll be better than lodging up here… Just stay safe." He smiled and got up, stumbling as he did so.
"Let's go." They hurried down the hall and went down the elevator to reach the open hangar bay, bright piercing light blinding them as they heard the sounds of explosions and grunts.
A huge army, clad in black metallic armour came into sight too, from orcs to cats, to wolves to even ogres. A huge shield dome covered the armour as they marched forward.
She had been tempted to help him when he seemed a little unsteady but decided against it when he took the lead. She would just keep an eye on him, make sure that he stayed safe, that he would be alright if his magic acted up again… hopefully, it wouldn't…
Liz had to close her eyes for a moment against the harsh light when they neared the battle. ”So, that’s the Empire of Darkness?” she asked as she studied the on coming army. ”I never thought I would ever seen creatures like that outside of a fantasy book.”
"Well, there is a lot of shit we don't kn-" He broke into a coughing spree and spat out black blood.
"Well anyway, this may be a difficult battle to win." He tried to pretend that he didn't see the blood.
She shrugged. “Being unconscious for a month with do that to a person.” she tried to joke until she heard him cough. ”Oh my God! Are you alright?” Liz asked with a note of panic, clearly noticing the black fluid. Damn. Why did I ask him to come with me and see this?
"It's fine Liz…Don't worry, I'd rather accompany you then be stuck in the med bay." He looked away.
"Crack." The shield dome covering the enemy soldiers began to crack as if it were glass, the soldiers inside clearly becoming fearful as they took a step back unconsciously.
