”We’ll see. I don't go down easily.” Liz smirked, briefly slipping back into her habitual flirty tone. She blushed a little when she remembered their company. “Sorry, Elder Helwaz.”
”We’ll see. I don't go down easily.” Liz smirked, briefly slipping back into her habitual flirty tone. She blushed a little when she remembered their company. “Sorry, Elder Helwaz.”
"It is fine, Mates need their space, just… Dont start here, I've seen some stupids elves in my time." Elder Helwaz sighed.
"Wait. Elder, what do you mean by…. 'mates'?" James raised a brow.
"Are you two not… hmm, how do I say this, betrothed or something?" Helwaz asked calmly.
Liz blushed in surprise and took a step back from James. ”N-no. No, we're nothing like that.” she told the Elf. ”We’re friends, yes, but we haven't really known each other that well for long enough to even think about that.” she said not wanting to admit to her, normally, shameless reputation for flirting. But since they were on a different planet, Helwaz probably wouldn't understand her actions.
James coughed lightly and smirked.
"Like the lieutenant said, we haven't known each other for that long but perhaps it may come to that if we get to know each other more," He chuckled.
"I… I see… I think. Well, come to me if you have anymore questions." Helwaz shrugged and got back to whatever he was doing.
James walked up to Liz and whispered.
"I never knew you could get embarrassed considering your personality,"
She raised a brow at the insinuation that he didn't seem to mind the possibility of them ending up together. The brunette rolled her eyes at James. ”This is different. I’ve never been accused of being married to anyone before.” she whispered back. ”Besides we're on a different world with a different culture. Who knows what they think of that kind of behavior.”
"Yeah I suppose, well anyways, I think we should check at whats happening with the fight," James shrugged before smiling.
"Who knows, perhaps there can be some more bloodshed…" His grin turned more vicious for a second,
”James…” Liz gave him a cautious glare before turning to Helwaz. ”Excuse me, Elder? I have two quick questions to ask before we leave. The first of which is why does Commander Crawford's power seem to make him schizophrenic, especially in regard to violence?” she asked respectfully.
"His past, I've seen his notes and what occurred to him, his past brings out the feeling to get revenge and his power helps cloud his brain from understanding much," Helwaz sighed and brought out a folder with the name titled, 'Commander James'.
"It's a real pity, to be honest…"
James forced himself to calm down as he clenched his fists tightly.
”Oh, I see.” she said softly, remembering what he told her about his family before they gained their powers. She tilted her head slightly when Helwaz pulled out the file but didn't comment on it. It wasn't really any of her business what was in it.
"Commander James, as much as I sympathise with you, rein in your emotions, or else everyone may die." Helwaz sat onto his chair and looked at the two.
"What was the other question?"
James just stood there in silence, his eyes closed as he leaned against the wall.
Liz looked up at Helwaz before nodding. ”My other question is; when we, me and Commander Crawford, passed out to gain our magic, we found an artifact and I was hoping you could tell us what it is.” she explained.
"Artifact… What do you mean by that?" Helwaz frowned.
Liz resisted the urge to shrug. ”When we were unconscious, we had something almost like a shared dream of sorts. We walked together in some kind of shallow ocean, no land really in sight and Commander Crawford actually found the artifact. He did show it to me but I'm afraid I'm not sure how to describe it. After we found the object, we woke up but I would almost swear I heard someone laugh as we did.” she reported. ”Perhaps the Commander could describe the artifact better.”
"It was… It was like a disc with some words written on it, it was a mix of hieroglyphs and Arabic, arabic is one of the languages back… Home." James explained.
"I see… I'll look into it, but right now, its time for you guys to leave." Helwaz said busily as his frown became deeper.
”Thank you, Elder.” Liz smiled gratefully, unsure if she should salute the Elf. She turned back to face James to follow him out.
James left silently and sighed.
"That was… Awkward I suppose,"
Liz nodded as she walked with James. ”Yeah, and a little concerning.” she agreed. ”About the artifact… He seemed worried when we told him about it.”
"Huh… Perhaps he had some knowledge about it?" James said thoughtfully.
"As in, he may have had some history with an artifact like the one I saw."
She nodded. ”It’s possible. I mean, other than what I've been told I don't know much about this planet.” she admitted. ”Do you think he’ll mention the artifact to Captain Blake?”
"Who knows, I guess we've just got to find out." He sighed.
"Again, I'm sorry Liz…"
She nodded. ”It’s ok. No real harm done.” she assured. ”I just wish I knew why you thought it was necessary to act like that.”
"It's… Complicated." James looked away before clearing his throat and continuing to the ship deck.
