"You kinda got her back by bodyslamming her into asphalt." He shuffled slightly to make the hug a little less awkward for him, lifting the sling over her shoulder so his arm rested on her back.
"You kinda got her back by bodyslamming her into asphalt." He shuffled slightly to make the hug a little less awkward for him, lifting the sling over her shoulder so his arm rested on her back.
"Alright, point. Can I come to video tape you beating her up, then?" She asked, changing tactics without blinking.
"Not at all," he said, shaking his head. "Personal business between me and her. Nobody else."
"You're no fun. At least let me be there to drag somebody's barely conscious body out, whether it's your or hers." She huffed, not wanting to admit that she was worried.
He raised an eyebrow, looking down at her with surprise. "You think I won't win?"
"I never said that, it's just-" She cut off, shaking her head as she looked down. "Nevermind. Just make sure you do make it out."
"I'm not about to go charging out today," he said, his voice surprisingly soft. "I still have to heal."
"Can you wait 'till I get the suit made? That way she can't pull the same trick twice?" She asked quietly, relaxing a bit.
He turned his nose up at the idea. "Are you gonna constantly whine if I don't?"
"Yes." She said instantly, nodding. "I'll never shut up. It'll be horrible, just ask dad. Or Adam, even."
He sighed out of his nose, setting his chin on the top of her head. "Fine."
"Good." She shot back, a smile tugging at her lips as she fiddled idly with the back of his shirt. "It's gonna be the coolest damn suit."
"No way it'll be as cool as your dad's," he said, tapping her upper back with his good hand at a steady rhythm.
"His is really cool, but yours'll be too. I did learn from the best, remember?" She pointed out, huffing a small laugh.
"Mine won't have anything but speed, Pegs," he argued playfully. "I'm not sure how cool that would be compared to one that can fly into deep space."
"It can still look cool." She countered, poking in between his shoulder blades. "Plus, I can add a few other features. Things like shock absorption and whatnot."
"That would help," he admitted. "I seem to get thrown in to cars a lot more often since I met you."
"Exactly. I'm excited to test this thing out, and it's not even built yet." She snorted, resuming her fiddling with his shirt.
He moved his head back to make eye contact with her, raising an eyebrow. "Is there something on my back of my shirt that you like?"
"Huh?" She blinked in confusion, her cheeks warming when she realized what she was doing. "Er-no, sorry. I have trouble keeping my hands still."
He couldn't help but smile at her response. God, she's adorable. "It's fine. I was just making sure there wasn't a bug or something."
"Yeah, no-no bug." She shook her head, making a face. "If it ever bugs you, pun intended, just let me know. I can stop."
"Actually," he mused, tilting his head. "It's quite comforting."
"Oh." She blinked in surprise, her blush deepening a bit. "That's a good thing, I think?"
"Welllll," he gave her a weird look. Why is she so flustered? "Why would it be bad?"
